Chapter 253 Gathering of the Extraordinary

Chapter 253 Gathering of the Extraordinary

The sudden wealth made Klein and Leonard even more reckless, and they beat up several detectives. Soon, cases came knocking on their door.

only……

"I'm starting to regret being your detective's assistant." Leonard slumped onto the sofa, his eyes vacant.

"..." Klein remained silent; this was not what he had imagined!

"So, is Mrs. McClelland not good enough?" Klein asked tentatively.

"Hiss! Don't tell me that name!" Leonard almost jumped up.

"Next time there's a request to catch someone cheating, you're the one to do it!" Leonard said decisively.

"No, they specifically asked you to go." Klein said expressionlessly.

"Is this how you understand 'catching someone cheating'? I almost got trapped in that room by Mr. McCley!" Leonard's face paled slightly.

"I was so close to being caught cheating."

"No! I haven't actually hooked up with anyone... no, I don't even have those kinds of thoughts!"

Leonard was almost incoherent.

"Haha!" Klein finally couldn't hold back and burst into laughter.

"There's nothing I can do, Mrs. McClellan just likes your type."

This is a rather bizarre commission to investigate an extramarital affair.

Mrs. McClelland suspected her husband of having an affair, so she went to the newly opened Sherlock Detective Agency. During their conversation, Mrs. McClelland took a liking to Leonard and specifically asked him to conduct the investigation.

Leonard naturally did not refuse, but strangely enough, Mrs. McClelland was still resentful of her husband's betrayal.

After some internal struggle, she decided she couldn't let herself suffer any more, so she set her sights on Leonard...

After several meetings, Leonard hid in Mrs. McClelland's closet in his room to look for evidence, where he was cornered by the well-maintained and still charming Mrs. McClelland, and was almost caught in the act by Mr. McClelland when he returned home.

This was so bizarre that Klein was dumbfounded, exclaiming that he had never seen anything like it before.

"Don't worry, to ensure my assistant's physical and mental well-being, I won't take on such tasks again," Klein assured him.

"That's more like it! We're not here to investigate this kind of thing!" Leonard couldn't agree more.

"So, shall we go to that gathering of wild extraordinary individuals tonight? And spread the word?" Leonard's expression turned serious.

"Cast a wide net and catch more fish." Klein nodded slightly. The two of them had already found several locations of secret gatherings in Backlund, which they could use to gather the information they needed.

"Is that a quote from Russell?" Leonard shook his head slightly, looking out the window at the setting sun; it was already evening. "We can set off now."

"Okay!" The two tidied themselves up and left the office.

click!

Klein closed the office door, but his movements froze slightly for a moment.

Teammate Leonard had already subtly reached for the gun at his waist.

"It's inspiring, but...it's strange." Klein was somewhat unsure of what to do.

The two walked down the street with normal expressions and hailed a carriage.

"It's like you're about to meet someone, but they just miss you when you're about to make contact," Klein concluded.

"Is this some kind of surveillance?" Leonard frowned. "Have we been too high-profile and attracted the church's attention?"

Theoretically speaking, they are no longer in the church system, and even the Night Watchers might be watching them, let alone the even more radical Punisher.

"I don't know." Klein shook his head, thought for a while but still had no clue. "Let's put this aside for now and go to the party tonight."

This inspiration is irrational, and Klein is currently unable to grasp the key to it.

The two relaxed and chatted as they arrived at the party location.

This is an unassuming house in Queens.

Klein and Leonard entered the party, both wearing hoods to conceal themselves.

Most people here dress like this.

Klein and Leonard had attended many parties, but this was a high-profile gathering of extraordinary individuals.

Because his host is at least a Sequence 5 Extraordinary!

The two separated by a distance, found seats, and began to examine the entries written on the blackboard.

Some early arrivals had already written what they needed on the blackboard.

The host sat on the sofa at the very front, looking down at everyone.

He seems to have some kind of tacit understanding with the authorities, which allows him to hold such a large gathering here.

"We can begin," the gentleman, who was also wearing a hooded robe, announced.

Everyone wrote their pre-prepared requests on slips of paper, had the waiters collect them, and then copied them onto the blackboard.

Klein wrote: "The Demonic Path is the primary ability of Extraordinary beings, 200 pounds."

Leonard, on the other hand, wrote: "The Instigator's" potion recipe, 450 pounds.

It's all fishing; as long as there's even the slightest clue, Klein and his companion can follow it.

Throughout the silent gathering, Klein and Leonard received no response, suggesting that no one could provide any clues.

Just when Klein was already disappointed, a waiter suddenly handed him a note.

"Are you looking for an Extraordinary being using the 'Demon' pathway? Come to my study."

Klein's pupils contracted; that tone...

Leonard also noticed what was happening to Klein and glanced over.

Klein showed nothing, simply nodded slightly, and got up to follow the waiter to the study.

"Sit down." A lazy and casual voice rang out, and Klein's body stiffened slightly. This was the host of the party!

Klein forced himself to calm down, sat down in the chair in front of the man, and looked at the...beautiful woman who had already removed her hood?

Judging by face alone, Klein couldn't tell the host's gender.

But it's definitely a man... He's so handsome!

Klein almost thought he had run into a witch.

Why are you interested in extraordinary individuals using the 'Demon' pathway?

"I once encountered an extraordinary individual who resembled a 'demon,' and I'd like to confirm this."

The impossibly handsome man looked at Klein with a powerful, almost oppressive gaze.

"I have information about the 'devil,' but 200 pounds is far from enough."

"You can choose to tell me everything about the 'demon' you saw, and in return, I can tell you about the 'demon's' extraordinary abilities."

This gentleman firmly controlled the transaction.

"...Okay!" Klein pretended to think for a while, and finally nodded.

The "devil" he knew was long dead, so it had nothing to do with him.

"The main abilities of 'demons' include demonization and the ability to sense malice. Demonic fire spells, such as..."

The information provided by this gentleman was very detailed, which made Klein thoughtful.

"Is 'demon' a sequence?"

"Sequence Six," the gentleman generously shared.
