Chapter 100 "The Illusionist"

Chapter 100 "The Illusionist"

Truman spent a long time in the Church of Destiny, and even managed to get to the so-called headquarters of Destiny, where he met a pope who was at the level of a demigod.

"The One in the Ring" is the fourth sequence of the "Destiny" pathway. In the "Gifts" system, the source of divinity is naturally the "Ring of Destiny".

The divinity of the "Old Days" is unimaginable, even in its smallest form.

Therefore, in many cases, crossing the gate of divinity means the complete collapse of both body and mind.

This entire "Destiny" civilization had a population even larger than the Earth today, but being able to see a demigod was already considered extremely lucky.

"I never expected to see a demigod from the 'Gift' system." Truman observed this demigod with great interest for a while, thoroughly squeezing out all his value.

And so, several years passed in a flash.

On a morning no different from any other, Kono put on the "Desireless Badge" and walked into the law enforcement bureau.

"Good morning, Captain!" Many law enforcement officers would stand at attention and salute when they saw Kono.

"Hello to you all!" Kono chuckled and nodded, then returned to his office.

Since embracing the dream world, Kono struggled and weighed his options before finally choosing his profession based on his spiritual aspirations.

This led to a smooth career path for him afterwards, with him rising steadily through the ranks.

No clue in the investigation could escape his spiritual perception, which led to his accumulated contributions to the law enforcement bureau reaching a terrifying level, making him the youngest captain.

He's about to become the youngest "sheriff" again.

However, as a believer in the Dream, he lacked confidence in facing the Church of Destiny and kept postponing it; otherwise, he would have been qualified to step onto that altar of ascension long ago.

"Alas," Kono sighed in distress, instinctively praying, "Supreme Lord of Dreams, please guide my path..."

It was just an ordinary prayer, without even a sacrificial ceremony, but it was this very prayer that received a miraculous response.

"Sequence Eight, Illusionist, Favored One of Illusion..."

goo...

Kono's Adam's apple bobbed, overwhelmed by immense joy. He forced himself to suppress his curiosity about the new sequence and endured the long day before returning to his new home.

"Father!" As soon as Kono entered his residential area, parishioners saluted and bowed to him.

Kono's lips twitched, and he nodded slightly.

He is now the only priest and "shepherd" of the Dream Church, managing a newly established church.

He ignored the worshippers and strode into the place where the dream statue was enshrined.

He prepared a simple prayer ceremony, knelt before the idol, and devoutly prayed for blessings.

"...The ruler of dreams, the supreme being beyond all limits..."

Points of light fell from the dreamlike statue, eventually converging into a storm that poured into Kono's body.

hum!

As if an infinite will was pressing down, Kono felt as if a dreamlike sea, countless times more magnificent than the infinite starry sky, appeared before his eyes.

Countless dreamy bubbles float on the sea, all surrounded by an endless beam of light and shadow.

It was as if the Lord of Dreams himself had appeared; the supreme dream in the form of a mythical creature surpassed the limits of Kono's imagination.

It was because of that one glance that he truly became the eighth rank in the Dream Path, the "Illusionist".

Kono broke free from his reverie and, after gazing directly at the mythical form of the Lord of Dreams, he was overcome with boundless reverence for that supreme being.

At the same time, all the information about the "Illusionist" flooded into his mind.

"Illusion?"

This is the essence of the "Illusionist." At this stage, the extraordinary individual's spirituality undergoes another qualitative leap, becoming the strongest among all known methods, to the point that it can be combined with illusion to influence the real world.

The "real world" here includes, but is not limited to, the enemy's five senses and spirituality!

"The five senses, spiritual manipulation..."

"The boundary between reality and illusion!?"

The five senses and spiritual manipulation can cloud the senses of most low-sequence extraordinary individuals; only those extraordinary individuals whose spirituality surpasses that of "Illusionists" can perceive the problem.

This "boundary between reality and illusion" is the strongest ability of the "illusionist".

"Illusions can become reality?" Kono was stunned. "Using illusions to simulate gunshot wounds, and those wounds can actually make people feel pain?"

"If I use illusion magic to make the enemy's mind believe he is dead, will he actually die?"

If you see yourself being shot, smell your own blood, feel the pain of a real gunshot wound, and even your spirit is deceived, then you have been shot.

"So powerful..." Kono's Adam's apple bobbed as he compared it to the eighth Sequence of Destiny, "Mendicant Monk," which he had come to know.

"I think I'm stronger than him..."

"The Illusionist is indeed very powerful." Truman took out the Book of Dreams and wrote down his observation data.

All the changes that occurred in Kono's body were also under his surveillance.

"It can basically reach the level of a typical Sequence Seven, but it consumes too much spiritual energy."

"This can be restored relatively quickly by praying to a dream."

The "Dream" path is basically complete in Truman's case. Except for Sequence 9 "Wisher," which is a stage that establishes a deep connection with Dream and is not particularly outstanding in strength, the other sequences are comparable to the best of their respective paths.

Kono's understanding of "Illusionist" is still too superficial. Only after he gains a deeper understanding will he be able to pull off all sorts of amazing tricks.

For example, after injuring an enemy's right hand with a gun, you can alter the perception of their five senses to make them believe that the wound is in their left hand.

In this way, the real wounds will not be treated, and the enemy will soon fall into a state of weakness.

They could even use a real gun to simulate a fake gun in the enemy's perception, firing both guns simultaneously so that the enemy couldn't distinguish which bullet was real and which was deactivated.

This is the true meaning of the "boundary between reality and illusion".

The reason why the "Dream" path is so powerful is because of the four powers contained in the Book of Dreams.

"Illusions," "Cause and Effect," "All Things," and even a kind of authority that Truman has not yet fully developed.

If supported by extraordinary characteristics, and with the four powers being unique, Truman could even create four extraordinary paths!

The current strength of the "Dream Path" is equivalent to the combination of the four paths!

Imagine what it would mean to combine the five paths of "God" and the three paths of "mystery"?

Or to be more direct, how about a "Source Castle" route and a "Chaos Sea" route?

That's what's truly interesting.

"Go and develop the followers, select the most devout among them, and grant them the title of 'prayer'."

Truman gave Connor a divine oracle.
