In the Apocalypse, I Can Enter Hogwarts

Chapter 102 Another Case of Creating Friends Out of Thin Air

Chapter 102 Another Case of Creating Friends Out of Thin Air

Ian looked at the adult turkey on the table, which was about a meter long and weighed at least 40 pounds. Its skin was crispy and shiny from roasting, and it looked very appetizing.

But he knew that this thing only looked delicious; turkey meat was notoriously tough, and even regular chicken breast was more tender.

However, Ian still ate earnestly, as his past experience in the apocalypse instilled in him a deep respect for every dish. But not everyone shares this philosophy, like Hermione at this moment.

"Dad, I feel like you've forgotten what happened last Christmas when we ate turkey for half a month straight... Good heavens, this time you bought one that's even bigger than last year's," Hermione said, somewhat disgruntled.

"I specifically chose a larger one because Ian would be coming this year," Mr. Granger explained with a wry smile in response to his daughter's complaint. "Ian, what do you think of the taste? I even marinated it."

"Not bad, it can effectively replenish the protein and calories needed by the human body, a great food." Ian was also telling the truth. If you ignore the texture of the turkey meat itself, then this dish does taste pretty good.

However, his words angered Hermione, who was standing nearby.

The girl was a little angry that he wasn't on her side, and said defiantly, "Since you like it so much, my share for the next few days is all yours..."

Feeling still a bit unsatisfied after saying that, he kicked off his slippers and stomped hard on Ian's instep with his toes.

The soft, tingling sensation left Ian momentarily stunned.

Their little actions might have gone unnoticed by Mr. Granger, but Mrs. Granger, sitting nearby, had seen it all. She didn't say anything, only smiled with a hint of satisfaction.

She was still very satisfied with Ian. Her daughter had told her everything, not only about his background, but also about his personality, knowledge, and so on.

Although she knew very well that there must be some embellishment involved, things like being featured in the newspaper and being favored by the professor to enter a private club were definitely not fake.

However, the moment she saw the boy today, she felt a little troubled, mainly because he was so adorable. She felt that her daughter would be bullied in the future.

She wasn't worried about being bullied by Ian; after all, she had seen the interactions between the two children, including the time they wore rings that afternoon, and she could tell that Ian really doted on Hermione.

So she clearly told them not to make any noise and disturb us, but some people still deliberately coughed and caused trouble.

Thinking of this, he glared at Mr. Granger, who looked equally bewildered. Although he didn't know the reason, it didn't stop him from giving an apologetic smile.

What Mrs. Granger was really concerned about was that her daughter was being bullied by other competitors. She had been through her teenage years herself and knew very well that when those girls really got into a fight, they would stop at nothing.

Ian's mind was entirely focused on dinner, and he paid no attention to the various dramas unfolding in the minds of the other three.

To be honest, he thought Mrs. Granger's cooking skills were quite good, especially the smoked salmon and fried cod on the side, which were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the heat control was excellent.

……

After dinner, everyone gathered in the living room to watch a movie before going back to their rooms to rest.

It's worth mentioning that Mr. Granger didn't take Ian to the guest room on the third floor, but rather to an empty room on the second floor next to their master bedroom.

After watching the movie, the middle-aged man went upstairs alone and began tidying up the room, claiming that the guest room was too small and had been unoccupied for a long time, making it somewhat old.

In truth, Ian didn't care at all. Someone who had slept on blood-stained floors, why would he care about an old room? But seeing Mr. Granger's self-righteous demeanor, he simply let it go.

Ian didn't care, but Hermione seemed upset again... She had stopped talking to her father since earlier.

She simply said goodnight to herself, then slipped on her rabbit-head slippers and went back to the third floor alone. As for Mr. Granger, Hermione didn't even glance at him once.

After washing up and returning to his room, he first entered the infinitely extended space. Being a non-Westerner, he had somewhat overlooked the traditional Christmas custom of exchanging gifts.

Although he hadn't prepared any gifts, his backpack was overflowing with jewelry, so he chose a necklace that wasn't too extravagant but was still very exquisite, and a men's handmade gold watch. These were his Christmas gifts for the Grangers.

As for Hermione, it was even simpler. Ian, knowing her preferences, gave her the book that Dumbledore had left behind—"The Ancient Magic: Deciphering the Patronus Charm."

He didn't miss Hermione's expression when she first saw the phoenix; he knew this strong-willed girl all too well.

Rather than letting her practice secretly on her own, it's better to openly show her the book. At least having it as a reference will save Hermione a lot of trouble.

After wrapping the gifts, I finally lay down on the bed to relax and rest.

……

Nothing happened that night. The next morning, Ian woke up to find a candy box with the Honeydukes logo on it on the corner of his bed. Opening it, he discovered it was a gift from Dumbledore, containing a wide variety of candies, including the pile of cockroaches Ian had been longing for…

As for other people's gifts, sorry, owls without an address can only be delivered to Ravenclaw's dorm room.

Knowing this made him feel quite relieved. Otherwise, finding someone's whereabouts would simply require writing their name in a letter and following the owl, right? That's absurd and doesn't make sense logically or emotionally.

As for the admission notice, he guessed it was due to the magical tracking effect of the Book of Admission.

……

When Ian arrived in the living room dressed and carrying the wrapped gifts, he found Mr. Granger already sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper, while Mrs. Granger was busy in the kitchen.

"Good morning, Ian, Merry Christmas. The presents are under the Christmas tree," Mr. Granger said to Ian, putting down his newspaper.

"Merry Christmas! This is your Christmas present." With that, she handed the wrapped men's watch to Mr. Granger, and then went to the Christmas tree to get her own gift.

Unsurprisingly, the gift was very much in line with their profession; the Grangers gave him a complete set of dental care products.

Mr. Granger also unwrapped Ian's gift, and he was very pleased with the men's mechanical gold watch, quickly putting it on his wrist to admire it closely. However, before he could look at it for long, he was interrupted by a voice.

"You shouldn't have accepted such an expensive gift from Ian. You know..." Mrs. Granger came out of the kitchen with breakfast, and when she saw the gold watch, she couldn't help but complain to her husband.

"You're right, this is indeed too expensive." Although he really liked it, Mr. Granger's good manners led him to agree with his wife's opinion.

Although his wife didn't continue speaking, Mr. Granger understood the implication. After all, Hermione had told them that Ian had always lived alone and had even worked odd jobs in Diagon Alley, so he absolutely could not accept this valuable gift.

"I think you've misunderstood..." Seeing Mr. Granger starting to take off his watch, Ian had to explain. "I was indeed struggling financially living alone before, but after school started, I received a letter from my mother's friend..."

In order to deliver the Christmas presents smoothly, Ian had to apologize in his heart, and he started making up friends out of thin air for his deceased mother from the apocalypse again...
