Chapter 100 The Grangers

"Then it's a promise... You'll come with me on the train home tomorrow, and my parents will pick us up at the station."

Hermione said to Ian with a happy expression.

……

After a brief exchange and saying goodbye to Hermione, Ian went straight to the headmaster's office on the eighth floor.

Because of the last-minute change in plans, he had to ask Dumbledore for the blood of the phoenix today, whereas he had originally planned to ask on Christmas Day.

Everything went smoothly. When Ian came out of the principal's office, he was holding a small bottle of dazzling and vibrant phoenix blood, along with more than a dozen books written by Nico, and that precious manuscript about the research and use of the Philosopher's Stone.

Furthermore, Dumbledore did not inquire about the purpose of the blood.

"This damn trust, you could at least have asked me something..."

He felt somewhat at a loss regarding Dumbledore's unconditional trust; he didn't want to owe anyone anything, that was a principle.

Even when he exposed Tom's past, it was out of self-interest, mainly to gain Dumbledore's help. In a sense, it was a business deal.

But Dumbledore later reciprocated by giving her the Philosopher's Stone, the infinitely extendable backpack, alchemical protective gear, and now the Phoenix Blood, as well as Nicolas Flamel's precious books and manuscripts.

The Philosopher's Stone, in particular, was crucial to his success, fundamentally solving Ian's lifespan problem during his interdimensional travels.

"Fine, at most I'll take away your wand later and secretly send you into the tower of Nurmengard, so you can spend your old age in peace..."

After clearing his mind, Ian returned to his dorm room with light steps to organize his belongings.

After all, this trip will last for 15 days, so the infinitely extendable backpack is a must-have, and many other items cannot be reduced, since the time to return to the apocalypse is fast approaching.

……

Nothing more was said that night. The next morning, Ian and Hermione went to the Hogsmeade train station platform again and boarded the Hogwarts Express back to London.

The girl seemed quite excited throughout the journey, chattering incessantly with Ian. Unlike when everyone had to take the train at the start of the school year, the carriages were always crowded.

Now, thanks to the fact that a large number of people choose to stay at Hogwarts, he and Hermione have fully enjoyed the benefits of fewer people. The entire cubicle is just the two of them, and there haven't been any strange people carrying toads coming to bother them...

……

"So, you're going to publish a novel?" Hermione asked, somewhat surprised.

"Yes, I've already made plans with my roommate to discuss this with the publisher during the holidays." Ian was also taking this opportunity to tell Hermione that he had other things to do during the Christmas holidays.

"You didn't even mention this to me before..." Hermione suddenly kicked Ian lightly with her foot, sounding a little angry.

He already had the answer in his heart when faced with this situation.

"Of course, it's to surprise you. After the novel is successfully published, the first copy printed will have my autograph, which would be even more meaningful."

After hearing Ian's explanation, Hermione's eyes suddenly darted around as she said, "Okay... it's really not a big deal. I was just curious and asked. It's the first book or something, it doesn't really matter..."

When you're having a pleasant chat, you don't feel the time flying by, and you might even find that there's not enough time...

Ian and Hermione were in this situation; when the train arrived at the station, Hermione was clearly still a little reluctant to leave. He had no choice but to quietly interrupt:

"Alright, it's time to pack your bags and get off the bus. We'll have plenty of time to chat during the upcoming holidays."

"Okay, you're right." Hermione nodded, picked up her backpack, and stepped off the train with Ian.

When they stepped off the platform, they saw Mr. and Mrs. Granger already waiting outside.

Hermione ran quickly to her parents after seeing them for so long, and the Grangers opened their arms to embrace their daughter who had been away from home for several months.

Ian followed behind, watching this happy scene with some emotion. He thought about how, later in the original story, the girl had to cast a forgetting spell on her parents to completely erase their existence, all for their safety.

He secretly resolved that if Dumbledore ultimately couldn't cover things up, he would rather take matters into his own hands than let Hermione go through that pain again. With the phoenix and dozens of cubic meters of gold, he could easily take Hermione and her family on a world tour.

Perhaps noticing that Ian was a little quiet, Mr. Granger released his embrace of his daughter, extended his right hand, and said affectionately:

"Welcome, Ian. Please allow me to call you that. Hermione wrote to us and told us how grateful she is for taking care of her at school."

"Mr. Granger, please don't be so polite. I should be thanking you for the invitation, and Hermione and I are friends, so I don't consider it a favor. Therefore, you don't need to thank me in any special way."

As Ian spoke, he extended his hand to shake hands with Mr. Granger as a gesture of goodwill.

"Alright, gentlemen, I think we should get ready to leave. You two can have a proper chat about gentlemanly etiquette when we get home," Mrs. Granger teased from the side. "Ian, welcome. You're even more handsome than Hermione described."

Upon hearing this, Ian also looked at Mrs. Granger. She had the same brown hair and a face that resembled Hermione's, but her features were not as delicate and three-dimensional.

However, the mother and daughter share very similar personalities; both are the type who dare to speak their minds and act on their words. For example, Mrs. Granger was completely unconcerned that her daughter's face was flushed red, almost to the point of bleeding, after she said those words.

They didn't care, but Ian couldn't ignore Hermione's feelings, so he had to change the subject for the moment.

"Mrs. Granger, thank you for your invitation. As you said, we should get going. The fatigue from the journey makes me very eager to find a place to rest."

"You're right, follow me. The car is parked in the parking lot across the street." After saying that, Mr. Granger turned around and led the way for everyone.

Ian breathed a sigh of relief as he watched the Grangers walking ahead. He was worried that the young girl might be too shy and get angry.

But the other party didn't seem to appreciate it. Just as he relaxed, he suddenly felt a slight pain in his lower back. Hermione gently pinched his waist and then quickly ran to her parents' side.

Seeing the girl's unsportsmanlike behavior, he was helpless and could only sigh and follow closely behind her.
