Douluo Dalu II: The Peerless Tang Sect

Chapter 36, Lesson 1 of the New School Year!

Chapter 36 The First Lesson of the School Year!

At nine o'clock, the school bell rang.

An ordinary-looking man of medium build, with a kind face, who appeared to be in his early thirties, walked into the classroom and went up to the podium.

The noisy classroom fell silent instantly, and all one hundred new students turned to look at him, their eyes filled with curiosity and inquiry.

No one would look down on him because of his ordinary appearance, for no other reason than that he was a teacher at Shrek Academy!

Throughout the continent, it is universally acknowledged that the teachers at Shrek Academy are all top-tier experts. To become a teacher at Shrek Academy, two conditions must be met: first, one must be a graduate of Shrek Academy; second, one must possess a cultivation level of Soul Emperor or higher.

Shrek Academy is the only academy on the continent where all faculty members are intermediate-level Soul Masters at the Soul Emperor level.

That's right, an intermediate-level Soul Master Academy. The Shrek Outer Academy is essentially an intermediate-level Soul Master Academy, an intermediate-level Soul Master Academy affiliated with the Shrek Inner Academy.

When Shrek Academy was first established, it was an advanced soul master academy. The Shrek Outer Academy was created simply to meet the requirements of the royal families of the three great empires.

"First of all, congratulations on temporarily becoming a member of Shrek Academy." The man looked around before speaking. His voice was ordinary, but his first words sent a chill down many spines. "Why do I say temporarily? Because before advancing to the fourth year, you will need to undergo several assessments, each of which will inevitably eliminate some students. Only those who pass all the assessments will truly become a member of Shrek Academy. So, don't think that getting into Shrek Outer Academy means you're set for life!"

As the man finished speaking, his expression became unusually serious.

The students in the classroom were all terrified; a sense of tension was contagious among them.

Ignoring the students' reactions, the man continued, "And now, my name is Xia Yu, and I will be your class advisor from now on. Before the freshman assessment ends, your fate is entirely up to me. Let me be clear: the freshman class advisor has the right to expel freshmen directly. Therefore, I hope you will take my words seriously."

Everyone's expression hardened; they all sensed the malice in the man's words.

"Finally, and most importantly, the freshman assessment will be held in three months." Xia Yu's expression remained serious, and her tone had lowered slightly as she said, "I can tell you with certainty that half of the freshmen will be eliminated in the assessment!"

"Ah!" The classroom erupted in uproar as the freshmen stared at Xia Yu in disbelief.

"My God! Eliminating half of them? That's way too much!" Tang Ya said with a serious expression.

"That's normal. This is Shrek Academy!" Zhu Ziyang said with a smile. This is a rule that only exists in the number one academy on the continent.

"Quiet!" Xia Yu whispered, her voice low but clear enough to be heard throughout the classroom, as if right next to everyone's ear.

The huge classroom fell silent immediately.

"I know you're surprised, but this is Shrek Academy's rule. If you don't want to be eliminated, then work hard to improve yourselves!" Xia Yu said expressionlessly. "Your class is the smallest in the last thirty years, and also the class with the biggest gap in soul power cultivation."

"Teacher, you said we are the class with the biggest gap in soul power cultivation. Just how big is that gap?" a boy asked.

"Among your graduating class, the lowest soul power cultivation level is 16, while the highest is held by only one person, who is also the highest-cultivated freshman in the past decade," Xia Yu said, a hint of emotion in his voice. "His cultivation level is... Three-Ring Soul Master!"

"Oh my god!"

"Soul Master! He's actually in the same year as us!"

"Truly worthy of Shrek Academy!"

"A Soul Master at the age of 12! When I was 12, I was already incredibly lucky to have become a Great Soul Master!"

"..."

The students in Class Four all looked shocked, and then they all sighed in amazement.

"Hey, Nan Nan, how did this Soul Master newcomer cultivate? He's too amazing! Could he be a successor of some hidden sect?" Tang Ya poked Jiang Nan Nan's arm and said with a surprised look.

"No, he's an ordinary citizen." Jiang Nannan smiled slightly. She naturally knew who Xia Yu was talking about, so she was very proud and spoke with certainty after hearing Tang Ya's words.

"Commoners? How could that be..." Tang Ya was about to retort subconsciously, but she noticed the smile on Jiang Nannan's face, and a guess immediately came to her mind.

"Teacher, could you tell me the specific level of this Soul Master?" another student asked.

"Well, it's best if you find out for yourselves," Xia Yu said with a smile, her gaze sweeping over the students. "Because this super genius is one of our students from Class Four."

"What?!"

This has once again stirred up a great deal of controversy.

All the students who didn't know each other started looking each other up and down, trying to spot the super genius.

"Nannan, is it him?" Tang Ya looked at the calm and collected Zhu Ziyang and Jiang Nannan with suspicion and called out.

"Mmm!" Jiang Nannan nodded proudly.

"Oh my god!" Tang Ya was shocked.

"Alright, I won't say anything more," Xia Yu interrupted the students' curiosity and said, "Next, please introduce yourselves."

"Nannan, is it true? Tell me!" Tang Ya asked, her face full of disbelief, as she held Jiang Nannan's arms tightly and shook them repeatedly.

"Xiaoya, tone it down a bit, the teacher is watching you!" Jiang Nannan said helplessly, squeezing Tang Ya's hand.

"Ah!" Tang Ya was startled, looked up, and met Xia Yu's gaze.

"Very good," Xia Yu smiled, looking at Tang Ya, and said, "The girl with the nice smile, you can go first!"

Tang Ya was taken aback for a moment, then stood up with a smile on her face. She thought to herself that this teacher had excellent taste, and said, "Hello everyone, my name is Tang Ya, from Tian Dou City of the Tianhun Empire. I am the current sect leader of the Tang Sect. If you would like to join the Tang Sect, you can come find me!"

She truly has the revitalization of the Tang Clan etched into her very bones! Zhu Ziyang thought to himself.

However, as soon as Tang Ya finished speaking, the classroom erupted in noise. Many students who knew about the Tang Clan were now looking at her differently—some with pity, some with mockery, and so on. Despite the strange looks from her classmates, Tang Ya remained unfazed, her face still bearing a smile, clearly already used to it.

Jiang Nannan suddenly felt sorry for Tang Ya, so she took her hand in a comforting gesture and gave her an encouraging smile.

"Oh! They're from the Tang Sect! That's an ancient sect, just like our Shrek Academy. Its founder was none other than Tang San, the Thousand Hands Douluo, one of the original Shrek Seven Devils!" Xia Yu said, coming to Tang Ya's rescue. "Students who want to join the Tang Sect can go to Tang Ya to learn about its history."

Tang Ya gave Xia Yu a grateful look after his help, then sat down.

"Okay, please let the pretty girl next to Tang Ya introduce herself," Xia Yu continued, pointing to Jiang Nannan next to Tang Ya.
