"You'd better hurry up, or that knight will probably be going to meet his gods soon."
While everyone was still reeling from the shock of a golden dragon with telepathic abilities and magic appearing before them, Wayne suddenly emerged from the nearby woods.
He wore a faint smile, but his amber vertical pupils, the sharp sword on his body, and the pointed ears on either side of his head immediately attracted everyone's attention.
Another witcher, and a half-elf witcher at that.
"Wayne! Haha, I knew you'd come too."
Dandelion quickly recovered from his shock, cheerfully greeting Wayne and rapidly forming the outline of a poem in his mind for the valiant Knight Ekko and the powerful and elegant golden dragon.
With just a few minor modifications, it could become a widely circulated poem. Of course, the protagonist of this song is not the valiant Knight Ek, but the poet himself who witnessed the events unfolding.
Just like the poems he wrote during his adventures with Geralt, the mighty white wolf Geralt, although an excellent swordsman who could defeat many monsters, was often saved by the witty, brave, and handsome poet Dandelion.
Wayne greeted the group in turn, but the haughty sorceress and the mage Dorigalai didn't seem to care much about him, only giving a curt "hmm" in response.
Seeing that none of them had any intention of risking their lives to save Ike, Wayne looked at Geralt, then gave the white wolf an apologetic look. Suddenly, he flicked his wrist, and a pale blue chain flew out from his sleeve, binding Yennefer, the sorceress who wasn't even looking at him.
With a flick, pull, and push, Wayne bound Yennefer tightly with the sturdy, magic-resistant golden chains, turning her into a dumpling and binding her hands and feet.
This chain was forged from the anti-magic metal he found at the Wild Dog Gang. Once bound by this chain, no matter if it is a sorceress, druid, or other spellcaster, they will be unable to cast spells. It was a powerful weapon he kept to deal with spellcasters.
Yennefer initially intended to retaliate with magic, but she quickly realized this as well. Having lost her ability to cast spells, she was just like any other woman, her hands and feet bound, unable to break free of the chains.
She lay on the ground, struggled to turn her head, and shouted to Geralt:
"Geralt, you bastard, what are you standing there for? Come save me!"
Geralt stared blankly at everything, his mind still reeling after hearing Yennefer's call.
His right hand instinctively reached for the sword hilt, but he quickly stopped, looking at Wayne with a puzzled expression, wondering what his brother was up to.
Wayne gave Geralt a reassuring look, then with a forceful pull, hoisted the tightly bound sorceress onto his shoulder, her backside facing Geralt so he couldn't see Geralt's expression, before loudly proclaiming:
"I'm sorry, Geralt, I promised to do the Golden Dragon a favor and stop Lady Yennefer from casting a spell on him."
"But don't worry, I won't hurt this lady. I will return Ms. Yennefer to you safely after this is all over."
"Of course, you can fight me too."
"However, if you're going to make a move, you'd better be careful. Our swords don't have eyes; who knows if they might hurt your sorceress in the process?"
Geralt's expression was somewhat strange. He certainly believed that Wayne would not harm Yennefer, but he did not expect that his brother would use this method to stop Yennefer from taking action.
Seeing Wayne winking and making faces at him, Geralt had no choice but to reluctantly play along and say fiercely as well:
"Wayne, remember your promise. If you hurt Ye, don't blame me for not showing any brotherly affection."
Dandelion was a shrewd man. Judging from their expressions, he roughly guessed what had happened. The poet, wanting to see Yennefer, always so arrogant and with such a bad temper, also chimed in loudly:
"Wayne, I never expected you to be this kind of person. Geralt and I trusted you so much, and you betrayed our team. What did this golden dragon give you in return?"
Seeing Dandelion eagerly adding to the drama, Wayne smirked, glanced at the wary mage Dorigaret, and immediately blurted out:
"He didn't give me any benefits, and I didn't ask him for any benefits. I did this not for a commission, but simply because I didn't want such a rare golden dragon, a creature full of wisdom, to die at the hands of those despicable and greedy hunters."
This answer immediately made Dorigaret, who advocated the balance of all things, look at Wayne with new respect. This was the first time he had met Wayne, and first impressions of a person are very important.
Fearing that saying too much would give him away, Wayne grabbed Yennefer's thigh with his left hand to prevent the struggling sorceress from falling off his shoulder before speaking:
"There's no point in saying more, Geralt. Come find me at the green dragon's lair after this is over. I will return Lady Yennefer to you then."
After saying that, he immediately turned around and left the group at lightning speed. Geralt could only watch as his goddess was carried away by his good brother. He reached out his palm as if to say something, but nothing came out.
After Wayne left, the remaining three exchanged bewildered glances. Geralt, showing the most conscience, nodded to Dandelion and sighed, saying:
"Don't worry, Wayne shouldn't hurt Ye. Let's go check on that bastard Ike. Even though he's a son of a bitch, he's still a life. If we can save him, let's do it."
Driven by a desire to observe the golden dragon up close, the mage Garidore said with a touch of arrogance:
"Now that Yennefer has been captured, you two probably don't want to slay a dragon anymore, right?"
"I'll go with you to take a look. Although I don't know healing magic, I should be able to think of a way to help that mad knight stabilize his injuries."
After reaching a simple verbal agreement, the three of them walked down the hillside and came to Knight Ek's side. The golden dragon in the distance watched them from afar but did not stop them.
Dorigare first stared at the golden dragon for a while with the eyes of someone admiring a priceless treasure, then casually glanced at the unconscious Knight Ek, and snorted:
"This guy is finished. His legs are severely deformed and the bones are broken. Even if he is cured, he probably won't be able to run again."
"His chest and head are protected by armor, so there's not much of a problem. However, his head suffered a severe impact, and nobody knows what the consequences will be."
He waved his hand, signaling Geralt and Dandelion, who had already removed Ike's armor, to step aside. Then, he chanted a spell and used his hands to direct the surrounding chaotic magic, which slowly entered Ike's body.
In an instant, Ike shuddered, and even in his unconscious state, he couldn't help but let out a painful groan.
About five minutes later, Dorigare wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, lowered his hands, and said:
"I have cast a stabilizing spell on him. Although it cannot heal his injuries, at least his injuries will not continue to worsen."
"Fortunately, he only suffered severe fractures and contusions, without bleeding or internal organ damage; otherwise, he would be a corpse by now."
After saying this, Dorigarei glanced at Geralt, chuckled, and said:
"This guy's a poor wretch, I'm not going to be so kind as to continue treating him."
"If you don't mind the trouble and aren't worried about not being able to recoup the treatment costs, after this is over, find him a good doctor and see if you can help him regain his mobility."
"However, as I said, his leg bones are completely necrotic. Unless you find the best healing mage to specially cultivate a new pair of leg bones for him and then replace them, he will definitely not be able to continue fighting."
"Of course, such a mage will not be cheap. Including materials and surgery fees, it will probably cost over a thousand crowns."
Geralt exchanged a glance with Dandelion upon hearing this. If it were a small amount of money, he might be able to help Ike pay it out of his principles and sense of justice. However, thousands of crowns were a considerable sum even for a Witcher.
Unfortunately, Ike was just a ranger knight, not a true fief knight. Even if he sold all his possessions, he probably wouldn't be able to amass such a fortune.
