Chapter 44 Wild Dog Gang

Having obtained the information he wanted, Wayne didn't linger at the tavern.

He beckoned to the boy named Alex, and with a flick of his thumb, a golden oren flew into the boy's hand.

Wayne gave the boy a friendly smile, then said to old York:

"Keep an eye on him for now. I'll go deal with the Wild Dog Gang and retrieve my mount, then I'll come back to see you all."

Hearing Wayne say this, old York frowned, his voice becoming more impatient, and he said loudly:

"Why won't you listen to advice, kid? A horse may be worth a lot of money, but it's not worth risking your life for!"

Wayne chuckled, remembering that he hadn't finished his task for the day, and said to old York:

"Old York, since the Wild Dogs are all a bunch of damn bastards."

"I'll help you eliminate them, and you'll reward me with the best wine in your shop, how about it?"

Old York was both amused and annoyed, and shouted:

"You ungrateful brat, I'm trying to give you some advice, but you're still so stubborn."

"Fine, if you're looking for death, no one can stop you. If you can take care of the Wild Dog Gang, from now on, you can drink as much alcohol as you want in my shop."

"I just hope you witchers can be as powerful as they are in the stories."

Wayne ignored Old York's harsh tone and happily accepted the expert-level quest that had just been triggered.

Then he waved goodbye to old York, unleashing all his keen senses to search for the scent of his mount Lucifer in the air.

The mount had been with him for months, and Wayne was very familiar with its scent. Combined with the herbs he had gathered, the aroma was quite distinct.

He searched and chased along the way, and soon emerged from the slums of Old Vijma and arrived at the main road connecting the various areas.

However, to his surprise, the scent did not lead to the crowded areas inside the city, but instead led directly out of the city along the road.

Seeing this, Wayne was even more delighted. He had just been considering that if the Wild Dogs were all inside the city, it would be difficult for him to make a move. After all, this was the capital of Temuria, and if there were large-scale casualties, it would definitely attract the attention of the city guards, and he might even be expelled from the city.

It now seems likely that the Wild Dog Gang is located outside the city.

In places like outside the city where the law has no jurisdiction, isn't it always a case of whoever has the biggest fist who gets to call the shots?

With this in mind, Wayne quickened his pace. It was just past noon, and if he lingered too long, it might affect the things he needed to do in the afternoon.

It's not worth it for some thugs.

Soon, Wayne followed the scent out of the old city of Vizima. Because the mutation wasn't obvious, the guards at the city gates mistook him for a mercenary looking for work in the city and didn't recognize his identity as a witcher, completely ignoring him.

After leaving the city gate, Wayne chased for about seven or eight miles, following the scent to the vicinity of what looked like an abandoned farm. There he finally saw two strangely dressed men, wearing cotton clothes and covered in tattoos, leading their mount Lucifer into the farm's stable.

Near the farm gate, four men dressed similarly leaned against the farm's wooden wall, holding simple weapons such as wooden sticks, axes, or short knives, chatting idly or dozing off.

Surprisingly, each of the four men was accompanied by a huge, vicious dog, with glossy fur, strong muscles, sharp fangs, and menacing eyes. Just looking at them was enough to inspire fear.

These are clearly well-trained fighting dogs capable of assisting their owners in battle.

However, Wayne was no ordinary man. Even vicious dogs wouldn't be much stronger than water ghosts in front of him. Since the mission indicated that he was to eliminate the Wild Dog Gang, he couldn't be bothered to waste words on these dying men.

While the four people and four vicious dogs at the door were unaware of his approach, Wayne pulled a Demon Dust bomb from his bag and threw it without even saying hello.

This is a highly toxic poison gas bomb, made by mixing poisonous herbs with biological toxins extracted from those monsters.

Even many physically strong monsters cannot withstand this deadly poison.

As green smoke suddenly exploded from the bomb, the four men and four dogs guarding the farm gate were caught off guard by the sudden attack and were immediately enveloped in the highly toxic green fog.

In less than ten seconds, the violent coughing and the burning pain inside their bodies rendered them unable to fight. They could only curl up and lie in the ever-spreading green fog, gradually losing their lives.

The two Wild Dogs members who had just led Lucifer into the farm also noticed the strange situation at the entrance. They immediately released Lucifer and began shouting frantically into the farm, presumably calling for backup.

As they shouted, a dozen or so members of the wild dog gang and a dozen vicious dogs rushed out of the farmhouse.

Armed with weapons, they rushed towards the two shouting gang members, somewhat bewildered. Looking up, they saw no enemy and began asking the two what had happened.

Several other gang members were bolder. They took their weapons, covered their mouths and noses with their hands, and tried to approach the dense green fog released by the Demon Dust in an attempt to rescue the four gang members lying in the poisonous gas, unaware that the four had already lost their lives.

Wayne had already used the bushes as cover to sneak up near the farm gate and saw the few reckless Wild Dogs gang members who wanted to get close to the poison gas.

A sinister smile appeared on his face as he stepped out of the bushes. Before the others could react, he drew an inverted triangle in the air with his left hand and then gently pushed it forward.

A fierce gust of wind shot out from his left hand, forming a powerful fan-shaped shockwave that directly struck the spreading green poisonous mist and the Wild Dog Gang members who were trying to approach from behind it.

Alder sign.

With a bang, the green poisonous fog, propelled by the Alder sign, rapidly spread into the farm, and the wild dog gang members who were close to the fog were directly knocked to the ground by the powerful force of the Alder sign.

However, before they could even struggle to their feet, a figure clad in dark blue light armor and wielding a finely crafted sword that gleamed with a cold light had already ignored the poisonous fog and appeared beside them.

*Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!*

In just a second or two, the sword in the figure's hand transformed into several afterimages, instantly slicing open the throats of several Wild Dog Gang members who were lying on the ground.

The spurting blood instantly stained the farm's grass red, and the struggles of the gang members came to an abrupt end. They all clutched their throats and lost their lives in agony.

Wayne flicked the steel sword in his hand, and the blood remaining on the tip of the sword detached from the blade, restoring the sword to its gleaming state.

He held his sword level, facing the remaining members of the Wild Dog Gang on the farm, adopting a defensive stance typical of the Wolf School of swordsmanship. A cruel smile played on his lips as he shouted sharply:

"You bastards, how dare you steal my horse! Today is your death day!"
