Chapter 305 Silly Little Ciri

Sintra is the city and the capital of the Kingdom of Sintra.

Standing before this somewhat dilapidated city gate, Wayne couldn't help but feel a sense of感慨 (gǎnkǎi, mixed feelings of emotion and reflection).

The last time I came here was about five years ago. In the Middle Ages, when the average lifespan of ordinary people was only thirty or forty years, five years was a very long time.

However, the city's appearance has not changed much. If there is any difference, the most obvious one is that there is more pedestrian traffic. Among the pedestrians are more rugged-looking, tall Skelliges, as well as merchants from other countries.

Clearly, the strength of the nation and the alliance with Skellige made Sintra even more prosperous.

"Master, should I send someone to book an entire inn?"

"Our guild headquarters in Sintra is too small and does not match your status. I can book a luxury hotel near the palace to facilitate your work."

The speaker was Sian, who was now twenty-one years old. In just a few years, the girl had grown into a great beauty. Not only was her figure more voluptuous, but her face had also become more elegant and noble. Every move she made revealed the composure of a great aristocrat.

She wore a black and white mink coat on top and tight-fitting thick leather pants on the bottom, which made her tall and alluring figure even more eye-catching.

However, unlike her noble and powerful aura in front of outsiders, the little slave girl always behaved meekly and obediently in front of her master, Lord Wayne, and was always so considerate, whether outside or in bed.

After several years of testing, Wayne was quite at ease with her. Although he didn't completely trust her, Sienna's status had risen from a pretty tool to a useful tool, practically a personal item, and she was carefully protected by her master.

Lord Wayne chuckled upon hearing this, glanced back at Syanna, then at the handsome young Aragorn who had accompanied him on this training trip to Sintra, and the rather simple-minded young Alex, and said in a nonchalant tone:

"No need for all that trouble, just buy it directly. And also buy a noble estate as a future base. Sintra is rising and will be even more prosperous in the future. Buying a house here is never a bad deal."

Sienna was already used to Wayne's nouveau riche attitude of casually spending huge sums of money to buy real estate. She nodded and said meekly:

"Yes, Master, I will make the arrangements before dinner."

Wayne nodded, then beckoned to Aragorn and Alex, who had come with him on this training trip. When the two children came to his side, he patted their heads and then said to Sienna:

"These two little ones will come with you now. On the one hand, they can be your guards, and on the other hand, you can show them the world."

"They've been focused on learning swordsmanship these past few years and have been too well protected. It's time for them to see the wickedness of human nature."

"I'm going to the palace now, you don't need to wait for me."

Upon hearing this, a rather cunning smile appeared on Cianna's lips, which she quickly concealed, and she said with a smile:

"Don't worry, Master, I will teach these two children well."

………………

After parting ways with Sian, Wayne quickly traversed the city streets and arrived at the magnificent Sintra Palace.

He was greeted by the same chubby manager from five years ago, whose name seemed to be Harkso.

This time, however, Lord Wayne was no longer an unknown figure in their eyes. When the fat steward saw the young and handsome witcher walking from outside the palace in the distance.

Harkso's face immediately displayed the respect and obsequiousness one would show when greeting an important person. His plump body moved with surprising agility to Wayne, bowing and scraping as he said with a smile:

"Welcome to Sintra, Master Wayne."

"You've finally arrived! Her Majesty the Queen has been waiting for you for a long time, and King East is also in the palace. They are all looking forward to your arrival."

One doesn't hit a smiling face, and seeing how polite Manager Harkso was, Wayne maintained a gentle smile and explained:

"I apologize, Manager Haxor. I was delayed while handling other commissions. As soon as I finished, I asked a warlock to use magic to teleport me here."

In fact, Wayne and Geralt were already quite fast, using the warlock's portal to cross half of the northern continent from the Kingdom of Cordwin to the Kingdom of Sintra.

Fortunately, the Witcher Order now has many sorcerers and is not short of spellcasters. Otherwise, as in the past, if employers wanted to find Witchers to solve their problems, the travel time alone would probably take more than a month.

Seeing Wayne's understanding, gentleness, and politeness, the smile on Manager Harkor's face became even more genuine. A few days ago, when he received Geralt of Rivia, the white-haired witcher was practically expressionless, speaking without any emotion and always uttering sarcastic remarks.

Facing this Grand Eunuch, who was a prominent figure in Sintra, he showed no respect or courtesy whatsoever; on the contrary, his behavior was extremely rude and vulgar.

If the other person wasn't someone the Queen was eager to see, he might have taken matters into his own hands and taught this country bumpkin a lesson.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, the portly butler led the way, while Wayne leisurely followed behind, casually asking:

"Are Geralt and Lady Yennefer still at court?"

Upon hearing this, Harkso shook his head and cautiously said:

"Master Geralt went out to look for clues two days ago, while Lady Yennefer has stayed in the court, working with the current court sorcerer to search for other clues and use magic to gather information."

"However, when I reported yesterday, Lady Yennefer told Her Majesty the Queen that Master Geralt should return to the palace tonight."

Wayne nodded. He had Geralt and Yennefer set off three days earlier so that the great detective Geralt could search for clues in the case. Although he didn't have high expectations, it would be good if they could make some unexpected gains.

After all, if this was indeed Wigford's scheme, given that big shot's methods and abilities, it would be very difficult to find anything.

However, sometimes, finding no clues at all is also a fairly obvious clue. This indicates that the other party is highly capable and not an ordinary person, which can greatly narrow down the range of suspects.

The palaces in Sintra are quite luxurious, boasting not only enormous gardens but also a large number of servants.

Just as Harkso was leading Wayne through the gardens of the palace's forecourt and into the palace grounds, and they were about to reach the palace's council hall...

A young woman dressed as a palace maid suddenly called out from afar:

"Your Highness, please don't wander off and disturb the guests."

Following the direction she called out, a tiny figure, only about a meter tall, wearing a white princess dress stained with mud and bits of grass, suddenly rushed out of the bushes and ran forward in a panic. She bumped into Supervisor Haxor's leg, causing the fat supervisor to cry out in pain. However, he didn't dare to push the little one away. Instead, he carefully supported her body, afraid that she would fall.

With Wayne's hearing, he had actually spotted the little thing a long time ago. Now, hearing the maid's shouts, he knew that the slightly disheveled little girl in front of him was none other than the future famous heroine, Ciri, Cirira Fiona Ellen Rayanren.

With gray hair, big eyes that looked a little dazed, and a blush on her chubby cheeks from running, she looked quite rosy.

Right now, she just looks like an ordinary, cute little girl, with no indication that she'll become a great beauty in the future. You could say that girls change a lot as they grow up.

Ciri released Harkor's leg, dusted herself off, and blinked her big eyes at the handsome Witcher Wayne, asking in a carefree tone:

"Are you the witcher my grandmother hired to help me find my mother?"

"My mom hasn't been home for a long time, and I miss her very much."

At this point, Xiao Xili put her index finger in her mouth and sucked on it, then said in a simple and honest way:

"If you help me find my mother, I'll give you half of my cake, no, I'll give you all of my cake."

Seeing Ciri's earnest expression and generous promise, Wayne felt a surge of joy. He reached out and stroked Ciri's gray hair, smiling as he said:

"Thank you, little princess."

"However, once I find your mother, I won't need you to give me a cake. I'll give you a cake instead, and it will definitely be better than any you've ever had before."

Little Xili is still an innocent little girl. She's heard that you have to pay someone for their help, but she's never heard of giving someone a gift for helping her. So, she tilted her head in confusion and thought for a while before saying:

"You are a good person, I can be your friend."

Wayne was even happier after hearing Ciri's evaluation.

Perhaps in some people's eyes, he is indeed a good person, after all, he has saved tens of thousands of non-human races and helped many orphans.

However, he knew very well that he was just an ordinary person, greedy for money and lustful, afraid of death, and his moral level was probably only slightly above average. He could only be considered a strong person with some principles, and could not be called a good person at all.

However, he did not shatter the little girl's fantasy. He smiled and patted her head again before following Haxor into the palace.

Although many stories will surely unfold between him and this little girl in the future, as fellow possessors of ancient blood, they are destined to have many entanglements. However, at this point in time, he will not make his regard for Ciri too obvious, lest it arouse suspicion from others.

A few minutes later, Wayne followed Supervisor Harkor through a corridor guarded by numerous soldiers and into a magnificent hall.

In the center of the hall, on the throne, sat a beautiful woman dressed in a magnificent royal robe. Seated beside her was a dark-skinned nobleman who looked like a sailor.

It was Queen Calanthe and her King Ister.

Upon seeing Wayne behind Harkor, the two immediately dropped their initial impatience.

The Queen said in a somewhat hurried voice:

"Let's skip the pleasantries and welcome, Master Wayne. You should know why I invited you here."

"Geralt has been searching for two days and still hasn't found any clues. I hope you can bring me some unexpected surprises."

Wayne bowed slightly to Queen Calanther and King East, then looked around the palace and said with a smile:

"Your Majesty, before coming to Sintra, I had already visited the Treant Queen, Lady Silver-Eyed Edina."

"She is the most famous divination master in the entire spellcasting circle."

"According to her prophecy, Princess Pavita has indeed been kidnapped, but she hasn't gone too far yet. She is probably hidden somewhere within the Kingdom of Sintra."

"However, you can rest assured that Princess Pavita is currently safe and has not been harmed."

"Our most important task now is not to find out who the murderer is, but to rescue Princess Pavita."

Upon hearing Wayne's news, Queen Calanther, though not entirely convinced, felt a sense of relief and couldn't help but exhale, exchanging a glance with her husband, East.

After a few seconds, he said to Wayne:

"Thank you for bringing back the news, Master Wayne. What are your plans for the future?"
