Chapter 248 The Witch-King of Angmar and the Skin-Swapping Man, Beorn

Chapter 248 The Witch-King of Angmar and the Skin-Swapping Man, Beorn

As the leader of the nine Ringwraiths, the Witch-king of Angmar's exact identity is unknown, and it is estimated that only Sauron, the Dark Lord who turned these humans into Ringwraiths, knew the truth.

However, the Ringwraiths, as powerful humans who were once corrupted by the Ring of Power, were already formidable warriors, mages, and sorcerers among humans before the corruption. After obtaining the Ring of Power, they gained the power to travel to the Netherworld, and their invisibility and immunity to many physical damage abilities made them difficult for ordinary people to deal with.

They were the nine most powerful servants under the Dark Lord Sauron, and a nightmare for many in Middle-earth.

But what makes Ringwraiths so terrifying is that they cannot be truly killed. Even if you go to great lengths to defeat and destroy them, it is only temporary.

Before long, they will return, unharmed, practically immortal. Only by defeating their master Sauron can these evil minions be eliminated.

It is precisely because of this that countless lives have been lost at the hands of the Nine Ringwraiths over thousands of years. They have always been the greatest enemies of the forces of light in Middle-earth, beings that are feared and dreaded.

The Witch-King of Angmar is the most powerful of the nine Ringwraiths, and some call him the King of the Ringwraiths.

His kingdom of Angmar once conquered a large part of Middle-earth, and countless races died at his hands. Although his invasion ultimately failed and he was overthrown by the heroes of the time, he still became the most well-known and terrifying of the nine Ringwraiths.

After several days of travel, when Polgar arrived in Dogurdu on his dire wolf with his men, he could already sense the dark power expanding within the ancient city even before entering it.

This force was so powerful that it even affected the weather in the sky, with thick dark clouds covering the top of the ancient city and lingering there for a long time.

These dark forces might cause discomfort, fear, anger, or even weakness in other races, but for the Orcs, living in places abundant with dark forces only makes them stronger and their race more prosperous.

Polger took a deep breath, feeling a slight relief in the darkness that had been brewing over his father's death.

As he led his men into the city, he immediately sensed a power calling to him, causing him to submit and bow down in worship.

Before he could react, a deep, resonant voice that instilled fear in him reached his ears.

"You seem to be Azog's son. What's your name? Why isn't Azog here?"

As the voice appeared, a shadowy figure wearing a black cloak, an ancient metal crown, and a metal mask, whose features were obscured, slowly appeared in a dark doorway.

Hearing this emotionless question, a surge of anger welled up in Polger's heart, but he did not choose to confront this powerful force. Instead, he lowered his head, not daring to look at the powerful figure's phantom, and respectfully said:

"Your Majesty the Witch-King of Angmar, my name is Borgh. My father, Azog, has been killed by the despicable dwarves, and the skull on my head comes from him."

"Not only that, but even the Orc town in the Misty Mountains suffered heavy losses. The Orc King and most of the Orcs there were killed, and the Orc town has become a ruin."

The voice in the darkness was silent for a few seconds, as if it were thinking about something, then it continued:

"Tell me everything you know, in detail."

A dozen minutes later, after Polge had finished telling him everything he knew, the Angmar Witch-King's voice became somewhat solemn. To be able to conquer a place guarded by thousands of orcs in such a short time, the opponent's strength was obviously formidable.

He hesitated for a few seconds before continuing:

"That's fine, Polger."

"From today onwards, you will lead the Ok tribe in the north."

"You will rule over Moria and the orcs of the Misty Mountains."

"I will personally send someone to handle the matter of the Lonely Mountain Dwarf Team."

"Your current task is to go north to assemble a large army, forge armor, and build weapons, thus assembling a powerful force to await your master's call."

"Our great master is about to awaken, and our era is about to begin."

Upon hearing this, Polger was overjoyed. With the appointment from the Witch-King of Angmar, although he might still need to fight some battles to conquer other orc clans, having a legitimate name would undoubtedly reduce many troubles in his journey to rule.

"As you command, Your Majesty King Angmar. Polgar awaits your orders at any time."

………………

Just as the orc army across the north began to assemble, and the Witch-King of Angmar took notice of this small group of Lonely Mountain dwarves, Wayne and his companions, led by Gandalf, arrived near a large wooden cabin located outside Mirkwood.

Wayne and the others carefully observed the huge wooden house and found that it was like the dwelling place of a gigantic creature. Many items were several times larger than ordinary objects, but the surrounding facilities were very complete.

It not only has wells, farmland, fences, and neat roads, but also grows many fruits and vegetables, clearly indicating that it is a place where people live for a long time.

Thorin, whose spirits had improved considerably, couldn't help but ask Gandalf a question after seeing the surroundings:

"Where is this place? Are the people living here acquaintances of yours, Gandalf?"

Upon hearing this, Gandalf took a puff of his pipe and said somewhat indistinctly:

"Ah, yes, this is the home of an old friend of mine. Perhaps we can stay here tonight."

Just as Thorin was about to ask something else, Bilbo, with his sharper eyes, suddenly pointed in a direction to their north and shouted in a somewhat terrified voice:

"A bear, a huge bear, it's charging at us."

Upon hearing this, everyone immediately looked in the direction Bilbo pointed. There they saw a huge brown bear, six or seven meters long, with brown fur all over its body and very strong limbs. It was lying on the ground and was four or five meters tall. It was charging towards them from a hillside with its mouth open, like a running small mountain.

It is about five or six times the size of an ordinary brown bear, and just by looking at its appearance, one can imagine the strength and power of this bear.

No one had ever seen such a huge bear before, and their first instinct was to run away. Gandalf even shouted:

"Run inside and hide there. The bear shouldn't be able to get inside."

As the others were about to do as he said, frantically turning their horses around and causing a commotion, Wayne suddenly spoke:

"Why are you running? It's just a giant bear, what's there to be afraid of?"

After saying this, he whistled, then asked Gandalf a meaningful question:

"Gandalf, is this bear a friend or foe? Should I kill him?"

Before Gandalf could answer, Deathclaw Robin, having heard his master's whistle, immediately let out an excited roar.

Without the slightest hesitation, they charged toward the giant bear at an extremely fast speed.

If this giant bear, five or six times larger than an ordinary brown bear, is a terrifying behemoth, then Deathclaw Robin, running towards it, is like a Tyrannosaurus Rex that has reigned supreme since the age of dinosaurs.

Both in appearance and size, the Deathclaw is definitely a cut above the giant bear.

Having witnessed the battle with Deathclaw, Gandalf and the others knew all too well how astonishing the beast's defense and strength were. The seemingly terrifying bear suddenly seemed insignificant. The dwarves immediately abandoned their escape and turned to watch the two beasts collide with a spectator's gaze.

Gandalf, realizing the terror of the Deathclaw, immediately became anxious and shouted to Wayne:

"Don't let Robin hurt him, Wayne. This bear isn't a bad guy."

In fact, Wayne had known this all along, and that was the same order he gave to Robin.

The two giant beasts were running very fast, and in almost the blink of an eye, they collided.

As everyone expected, although the giant bear looked terrifying, it was no match for Deathclaw. When the two giant beasts collided, the giant bear was instantly knocked to the ground and then pinned down by the powerful Deathclaw. Its strong hind legs stepped directly on his chest, and its gaping maw full of countless sharp teeth bit down on his neck in an instant.

The sharp teeth and the bloody smell immediately brought the giant bear back to its senses, and it struggled desperately as it was pinned to the ground.

Gandalf quickly rode up to the bear and shouted:

"Beon, please turn back into human form. We are not enemies and will not harm you."

The Deathclaw was incredibly strong. Even though this giant bear was also known for its strength, it couldn't break free no matter how hard it struggled against the Deathclaw, which was much larger than itself.

Finally, after several dozen seconds, the giant bear began to slowly shrink, transforming into a naked giant wearing only shorts.
