Chapter 207 Letho and the Elf Armor Master
Chapter 207 Letho and the Elf Armor Master
As expected, Wayne had already guessed his identity from seeing Letor's strong physique and his conspicuous scarred bald head.
Faced with the question from the burly witcher, Wayne had already prepared his answer. Maintaining a gentle smile, he met the slightly wary gaze of the man opposite him and spoke calmly but sincerely:
"Resol, I came to Toussaint by chance and heard the rumors about the Witcher, so I came here specifically to find you."
"Besides wanting to make friends with you, the main thing is that I want to entrust you with a commission, a very lucrative one."
Seeing that Wayne indeed seemed harmless, Letor and his companion relaxed their guard slightly. However, after hearing Wayne's explanation, their doubts remained unresolved. Letor gave his companion a look, signaling him to deal with the pterodactyl's carcass, then frowned and asked:
"To commission us?"
"Are there no more witchers in the North? Why are they searching for witchers from the South?"
Just as Wayne was about to answer, he suddenly noticed a wound on Letso's body caused by a dragon claw, from which blood was slowly flowing. He flicked his right hand on his spatial bracelet, and a vial filled with red liquid appeared in his hand.
Then he gently tossed the bottle to Letso, and after Letso caught it, he continued:
"No, Letho, although there are indeed not many witchers left in the North, there are still a few, including members of the Wolf School, the Griffin School, and the Bear School."
"However, the commission I'm referring to is for myself. I need a lot of helpers, no matter how many, it won't be enough. Even if you find me ten more witchers, I won't mind."
As he spoke, Mr. Wayne grinned, his voice carrying the domineering air of someone with wealth, and added:
"And rest assured, the commission I'm giving you is absolutely the most lucrative you've ever seen. There's so much gold that you'll need a carriage to transport it, and it's not even dangerous."
"The reason I'm hiring you is simply because I have great faith in the integrity of us witchers. With your help, I don't need to worry about being betrayed."
After saying that, Wayne pointed to the red potion bottle in Letor's hand and said with a smile:
"This is a healing potion I got from the Archdruid. It's very effective against external injuries. After taking it, it will heal your wounds in less than half a minute. And unlike the Witcher's potions, it's not toxic. You can give it a try."
However, despite Wayne's kindness, Letor remained somewhat wary. He shook his head expressionlessly, put the bottle of medicine into his pouch, and then said:
"Wayne, we can discuss your request once we get to the city, but for now, we need to deal with this pterosaur."
"We've been chasing this flying beast from the Kingdom of Ebin to Toussaint for almost ten days now. One of our companions was injured and is recuperating elsewhere. We'll have to deal with these matters first before we talk about anything else."
Wayne agreed with Letor's decision. After all, you can't just believe whatever a stranger says, especially in a time like the Middle Ages when moral standards were low.
After considering for a dozen seconds, Wayne took out a book he had handwritten himself from his spatial bracelet and tossed it to Letor.
It was a precious book containing knowledge of Witcher Signs, copied from a book he had obtained from the Aretusa Academy. Then, under Letor's astonished gaze, he said:
"Consider this book a gift from me to you as a token of our first meeting, simply to build your trust in me."
"I'll be staying at the Red Moon Hotel in Beauclair for a while. Remember to come find me once you've finished dealing with your business."
"You should know very well, Letho, that we don't often have the chance to encounter witchers from other schools. We should have a good chat; you might gain some unexpected insights."
Perhaps it was Wayne's sincere gesture that moved him, and Letor nodded seriously, indicating that he would go to Beauclair to see him after he finished dealing with his business.
After receiving this affirmative answer, Wayne sighed slightly. He knew that Leto and the other two would definitely not be going with him for the time being, so he quickly drove his magic carpet away from the Caloberta Forest.
Back in his room at the Red Moon Inn, Wayne let out a long sigh of relief. He had completed his most urgent mission in Toussaint: making contact with the Viper School witchers who had come here. Not missing out on them was a huge achievement.
What he needed to do next was figure out how to bring Leto and the others to his side.
Based on what he knew about the plot and the rumors he learned from the books of Kaer Morhen, the Viper School was founded by Iva the Evil Eye, and the school was established to defeat the Wild Hunt.
The school's headquarters were located in the Fortress of Gesvid in the Tyr Torsha Mountains, under the control of Nilfgaard. Later, due to war, the usurper emperor of Nilfgaard hoped to subjugate these witchers for his own use, but was rejected by the Viper School witchers.
Finally, their academy was destroyed by the Nilfgaardian army, and the members suffered heavy losses, with only Letho and a few others surviving.
However, whether this encirclement or not actually took place will only be known after communicating with Letso.
According to the original history, the usurper would have been overthrown by the Hedgehog Man in 1257. Considering the current timeline of 1253, that siege has most likely already occurred.
However, this is not a bad thing. Letso and the others are likely in a helpless state right now, which is a good opportunity to recruit them.
If he can bring back the Viper School members, then his task of rebuilding the Witcher Order has made some progress.
After considering the Viper School for a while, Wayne quickly turned his attention to something else.
That is the whereabouts of the Wolf School Grandmaster Set and the Flying Lion School Grandmaster Set.
Although he had tried to find them in the game, the real-world maps are very different from those in the game, so it's basically impossible to find them by relying on the game's memory.
However, as long as he makes contact with the elven armor master Thansel, obtaining these blueprints should not be a problem.
In the game, the Elf Armor Master died in a massacre by racists. However, the game is now twenty years in the past. He has already inquired with his former card-playing friends and learned that the Elf Master is currently in his shop, still running his business, and is not in any danger.
Since I needed his help this time, I could also save his life in the process.
Thinking this, Wayne pulled a fist-sized magical communicator from his pocket. This was a communication magic item that Francesca had given him. Because he might need to contact her at any time, it could only be kept close to his body and could not be put into his spatial bracelet.
He took the communicator, sat down in a chair, and pressed a button while inputting chaotic magic into it.
After about two minutes, Francesca's somewhat distorted voice came through the communicator.
"What's the matter, Wayne?"
"Did you run into any trouble in Toussaint?"
Wayne didn't mince words and went straight to asking his question.
"Ms. Francesca, do you know the Elven Armor Master Thainsel of Toussaint?"
The voice on the other end of the communicator paused for a few seconds, as if in thought, before continuing to speak as the sorceress.
"I seem to remember him. I've heard some people from Hundred Flowers Valley mention him. He should be a new generation of elves, but I don't know him."
Hearing Francesca's answer, Wayne felt a little regretful. A Grandmaster-level Armor Master should be considered a valuable asset to any faction.
So, he was about to introduce the master to the sorceress when Francesca continued:
"If you need his help with anything, I can put in a good word for you. I think most elves will give me face."
Okay, faced with Francesca's somewhat domineering statement, Wayne remained silent for a second or two, then gave a brief overview of Tynesel's situation before speaking:
"The Elven Master Blacksmith is an exceptional talent, and he will be of great value to the Elven race itself, whether in the event of war in the future."
"However, I heard a rumor that elves are very unpopular in the Kingdom of Toussaint, and there are some racists among the people."
"It seems someone is plotting against this elf master."
After hearing Wayne's reminder, Francesca seemed to fall into thought again. After a couple of seconds, she said:
"You're right, Wayne. Please place this communicator in the center of the room. I'll come to Toussaint now, and tomorrow we'll go together to see Tynesel."
Wayne was also taken aback. He looked at the sky outside the window and realized that it was already dusk.
He hadn't expected Francesca to be so impatient, wanting to come over at this time. However, he had no reason to stop her, and quickly followed the sorceress's instructions, placing the magical communicator in the center of the room.
After a minute or two, the magical communicator, made of an unknown metal, suddenly trembled, and then a portal to the void instantly formed above it.
A few seconds later, an elven sorceress dressed in a gorgeous white dress stepped out of the portal.
Despite opening a portal spanning half a continent, Francesca remained calm and composed, her face always bearing a beautiful and noble smile.
Upon seeing Wayne, she nodded slightly to the Witcher, and with a gentle wave of her right hand, the portal vanished instantly.
After the beautiful sorceress had surveyed Wayne's room, she took out a pair of pearl earrings from her pouch and elegantly put them on. Her long elven ears were then instantly concealed by magic.
Having completed her disguise, Francesca gracefully extended her slender, white fingers and said to Wayne:
"This is my first time in Toussaint, Wayne. Could you show me around this beautiful city?"
Faced with such a beautiful lady's request, Mr. Wayne, being a man who was infatuated with beauty, naturally did not refuse. He reached out and took Francesca's hand, put her arm around his strong arm, and then led this elegant beauty out of his room.
(There wasn't much of an update today, but I'll update with 10,000 words tomorrow, thank you!)
