Ruoxue glared at him fiercely, tilting her head back to keep him away, and gritted her teeth as she said, "You dare!"
"What wouldn't I dare to do?" Han Xingyu looked at her with amusement, as if he appreciated and enjoyed her flustered and frightened appearance, which she was trying to portray as fierce.
"Mmm..." She wanted to say something, but her lips were already firmly sealed by him.
Ruoxue stared wide-eyed in horror.
My first kiss, my first kiss in two lifetimes, gone just like that!
Anger stained her eyes red, and she suddenly bit his lip hard.
Han Xingyu winced in pain. What a ruthless woman! One bite would have been enough, but she bit so hard, as if she wouldn't stop until she drew blood.
With the taste of blood lingering in her mouth, she resembled a bloodthirsty demon, raising a cold and beautiful smile before finally opening her pearly teeth in satisfaction.
Han Xingyu was slightly dazed when she met her cold and beautiful smile.
What kind of woman is she? What kind of woman can be so ruthless and yet have such a captivating smile?
Han Xingyu smiled wickedly, her exquisite face becoming even more alluring and captivating against the backdrop of crimson blood.
He lightly flicked his tongue, licking away the bright red blood from his lips. The taste of blood slowly filled his mouth, making his smile even more captivating.
She could have suppressed her anger, having already made him pay a bloody price, but when she saw his smile, Ruoxue could feel the rage in her heart almost materializing. This anger, bordering on rage, this loss of composure, was something an assassin shouldn't possess. Assassins are supposed to be emotionless, their emotions unspoken. But today, she could no longer hold back.
She shoved Han Xingyu away in a fit of rage. If her eyes could see through people, Han Xingyu would probably be riddled with holes by now.
"Hehe, you've probably had enough of that drool." Han Xingyu said innocently with a grin, "I'll answer Miss Xue'er's question properly. I just happened to come to the Ruo residence and saw Miss Xue'er annul her engagement. I felt that you were different from the rumors, and I wanted to help you successfully annul your engagement..." He hesitated for a moment, staring straight at her, and suddenly said very seriously, "Because I'm interested in you! So I don't want you to be engaged to anyone else."
Ruoxue stared coldly at him, unmoved by his almost confessional words, and said in a cold voice, "I will avenge you for stealing my first kiss." In this world, cultivation is more important than anything else. I must be stronger than him, and I must let him know the consequences of offending me!
Han Xingyu was slightly taken aback, then smiled even more brightly, appearing roguish as he said, "So, Miss Xue'er, how are you going to take responsibility for stealing my first kiss?"
Turning revenge into taking responsibility is a terrible twist of fate.
Han Xingyu almost laughed at the woman's annoyed expression. But he knew that Ruoxue was a stubborn woman and he absolutely could not laugh in front of her. He tried his best to suppress his laughter, blinked, and looked at her innocently.
Ruoxue took a deep breath to calm herself down. She now understood that the less calm she was in front of this guy, the more she would be made a fool of.
She suppressed her anger and laughed as well, but this laugh was filled with more sinister and bloodthirsty intent. Her voice was gentle and soft, yet it sent chills down one's spine: "Take responsibility for you? Someone like you, that was your first kiss? I doubt it."
A man who kissed her after only two meetings, stealing her first kiss, then confidently claimed that it was also his first kiss. Did he think she was some ancient woman from another world, so easily fooled?
Ruoxue's gaze was mocking and indifferent, like a cold, sharp blade sweeping over him.
Han Xingyu looked aggrieved and said plaintively, "Xue'er, I'm innocent."
He looked just like a wronged young wife who had been questioned by her husband and was now pitifully trying to clear her name.
Ruoxue's face darkened as she looked at his ever-changing appearance—one moment charming and wicked, the next roguish, then feigning pitifulness—each look utterly captivating. She couldn't help but curse him inwardly: "Demon! Femme Fatale!"
Ruoxue was angered once again and retorted, "Xue'er is not someone you can call!"
"I just like calling you Xue'er." He dropped his pitiful look and became roguish again.
Ruoxue's face darkened further. She tried to remain calm, her voice icy as she asked, "What part of my body interests you?"
Han Xingyu was taken aback, completely unexpected that she would ask such a question. She blinked and said innocently, "Xue'er..."
"I told you, don't call me Xue'er!" Ruoxue said coldly.
"Xiaoxue?" he asked tentatively.
"Heavy snow? It's moderate snow!" Ruoxue said angrily. "Call me Miss Ruoxue!"
Han Xingyu pouted and said reluctantly, "Miss Ruo."
Ruoxue subconsciously reached out and patted his head, saying softly, "Good boy." Only after patting him did she realize she seemed to be possessed. This guy was clearly feigning helplessness; why was she pitying him and comforting him? Possessed, she must be possessed! She needed to stay away from him!
Ruoxue took three steps back, distancing herself from Han Xingyu.
Han Xingyu was clearly taken aback by her subconscious head-touching gesture. Turning to look at her awkward expression, Han Xingyu couldn't help but smile. This woman, actually, has a very soft heart!
"No need to pretend to be strong." Han Xingyu stepped forward, but she stepped back, always keeping a distance of three steps.
She looked at Han Xingyu warily, but her heart skipped a beat. In her ear—his gentle voice echoed repeatedly: "You don't need to pretend to be strong."
In the past, I so wished someone would tell me that I didn't need to pretend to be strong, but every time, I was forced to be strong instead.
She was an orphan. The director of the orphanage told her that an earthquake had struck her hometown, leaving her the only survivor of her family.
At that time, she was still a newborn baby who was not supposed to escape that calamity, but her mother held her tightly in her arms.
The search and rescue team thought there were no survivors in the entire village, but then they heard a child cry.
It is said that her mother kept her eyes wide open and held her tightly, refusing to let go, until the search and rescue team leader promised her that he would take good care of her. Only then did her mother close her eyes and let go of her.
When the dean told her these stories, she was only five years old, but she was already very sensible. She always thought she was an abandoned child, but when she heard these things, her heart softened because that kind of mother must have loved her very much. If it weren't for that earthquake, she would have been very happy. That kind of maternal love was something she longed for, but she could no longer grasp it.
Fate seemed to be playing a cruel joke on her. When she was six, the director organized a trip to the countryside for all the orphans in the orphanage. But, during that trip, she was far removed from the word "happiness".
A black sack, a pitch-black world, bound her within. She struggled incessantly, only to be met with a barrage of punches and kicks from someone unknown. She could feel herself on the verge of death, when she heard a voice that sounded like both God and demon: "To still be alive like this, you're quite a promising talent."
At first, she was relieved that she hadn't died, but later she realized that perhaps being killed would have been better than living.
She was taken to a place where many children were imprisoned. She thought it was like an orphanage, but the way those children looked at her was not like the way the children in the orphanage looked at her. Instead, it was the look of someone looking at an enemy, a mortal enemy.
She didn't understand why they were so hostile towards her when she hadn't provoked them. Later, when it was time to eat, she realized that the food delivered was far from enough to feed everyone. To get enough to eat, one had to be quick and grab it fast. This also meant that if you got full, others would go hungry.
Only then did she realize that this was the reason why they were hostile towards her.
On the first day, she did not steal; on the second day, she still did not steal; on the third day, she was too weak from hunger, but she still did not steal.
No one sympathized with her. The people here were all the same age as her, six or seven-year-old children, but not one of them showed her any sympathy. The way they looked at her was even mocking.
Her hearing was always just above average, and she overheard the guards whispering outside the door.
Perfect timing, we're talking about her.
"One of them is dying; he's been starving for three days."
"Is that the new guy?"
"She didn't try to steal it; she starved herself for three days."
"I've seen her; she's quite good-looking. It's a shame she starved to death like this."
"Are you interested in little girls?"
"I'm interested in lolis, but I'm even more interested in corpses!" The voice was sinister. "You know, I've recently become obsessed with dissections. Once she dies, let me play with her body."
"You pervert!" another person cursed, but his voice carried a hint of laughter.
"Hehe..." A sinister laugh rang out.
She was curled up in a ball, so scared. To be dissected after death was terrifying, so incredibly terrifying...
That memory made her tremble all over, as if she had returned to her childhood and was experiencing the panic she felt back then.
Han Xingyu was startled when he saw her frightened appearance. Her heart felt as if it had been hit hard, and he actually felt a pain. Is this what it feels like to pity someone?
He strode forward, but she remained where she was, without backing down. He didn't know what she was thinking, but he felt sorry for the paleness on her face and the trembling, helpless look in her eyes.
Han Xingyu wanted to pull her into his arms, but as his hand reached out quickly, he paused slightly, his movements becoming gentle, as if he were holding a fragile porcelain doll, afraid that she might fall.
"What are you thinking about? If you're unhappy, why not forget it?" His voice was very soft and gentle, like a spring breeze. He thought Ruoxue was sad and heartbroken because she was thinking about how crazy and ugly she was in the past, and how she was bullied. She had no idea that the body he was embracing was that of a lonely soul from another world. The pain and the wounds she suffered were beyond his imagination.
The warm embrace made her lose her senses. When she came to her senses, she met his extremely gentle face. She was confused as to when he had hugged her. Her face immediately turned red. She wanted to push him away forcefully, but she was also somewhat greedy for this warmth. Childhood memories made her feel cold all over. She reached out weakly and only pushed him gently.
Han Xingyu smiled wryly and withdrew his hand. She was as agile as a rabbit, quickly stepping out of his embrace. The warm fragrance in his arms disappeared, and a hint of reluctance flashed in Han Xingyu's eyes. He looked at her gently and said softly, "I only hugged you because you were trembling just now."
Ruoxue awkwardly straightened her dress and said in a muffled voice, "I just remembered something, but it's nothing now."
"Forget about what makes you unhappy?" Han Xingyu looked at her with heartache.
Ruoxue looked up and met his pained gaze. She was slightly taken aback and quickly lowered her head. She felt a mix of emotions, a little annoyed that she had shown weakness in front of him, since he was her enemy, the one who had stolen her first kiss. Yet, she was also touched. His gentleness was completely different from his previous devilish, charming, and roguish demeanor. And that pained gaze didn't seem fake.
I had asked him before what aspects of me he was interested in, and I planned to change them so that he wouldn't be interested in me anymore. But now, for some reason, I don't want to do that anymore.
"Some things can't be forgotten just like that." She didn't know why she answered him. Maybe it was because she was in this strange new world and her mindset was different from before.
"I can use magic to help you forget," Han Xingyu said with a gentle smile.
Ruoxue was taken aback, her lips twitched involuntarily, and she said helplessly, "Some things are etched into the soul, and cannot be forgotten even with magic."
"I can try." Han Xingyu reached out her hand, but Ruoxue dodged it, her brows furrowing tightly. If she forgot her memories of the modern world, then she wouldn't be a time traveler, and she might become that crazy and ugly Ruoxue again.
"Unwilling to forget?" Han Xingyu frowned involuntarily. What was it that she couldn't bear to forget? Was it a person? Was there someone she couldn't forget?
Ruoxue said calmly, "I want to forget it on my own. If I forget it using your method, perhaps I won't be myself anymore."
Han Xingyu was slightly taken aback, and her gaze towards her became even more tender.
"Don't look at me like that!" Ruoxue glared at her and said in a low voice, "I don't need that kind of pitying look." She longed for someone to care for her, but as proud as she was, she was unwilling to accept that kind of pitying gaze for no reason.
"I'm just concerned about you." Han Xingyu smiled helplessly, reached out and pinched her cheek, and said gently and plaintively, "You woman, how come you don't understand human relationships at all?"
Ruoxue slapped his hand away, somewhat angrily saying, "You're the one who doesn't understand social etiquette! Lingering in my room in the middle of the night, aren't you being incredibly inconsiderate!"
Han Xingyu rubbed her reddened hand, and once again complained with a bitter expression, "You are such a heartless woman."
Ruoxue walked to the door, opened it, and said in a low voice, "Please! I don't mind. You come and I'll see you off every time. As long as you're not tired, I can keep you company!"
Han Xingyu was taken aback for a moment, then suddenly flew in front of her and, before she could react, planted a kiss on her lips, raising an eyebrow and saying with a mischievous smile, "Goodnight. I'll come again tomorrow."
Just as Ruoxue was about to curse, he had already disappeared.
She lowered her head, gently touching her lips, her face slightly flushed. Then, angrily, she slapped herself, walked to the table, poured herself a cup of tea, took a sip, and rinsed her mouth abruptly. A soft voice reached her ears: "I drank from the teacup, and you drank my saliva. Will Xue'er listen to me from now on?"
She turned around abruptly, and he reappeared behind her. With a "pfft," she sprayed a mouthful of tea all over his face. She was about to get angry and yell at him, but seeing his face covered in tea and his extremely disheveled appearance, she couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Han Xingyu's lips curled slightly, but she feigned anger and roared, "You woman, you're too ruthless!"
Ruoxue laughed so hard she bent over, pointed at his face, and shouted, "Serves you right! Who told you to come again!"
Han Xingyu wiped the water from his face, and as he did so, the corners of his mouth curved upwards even further. How could he possibly avoid this mouthful of tea? He deliberately took it head-on, making himself look disheveled, just to make her laugh.
Women, are you able to forget your unhappiness now?
If you won't let me cast a spell, then I'll use this method to make you gradually forget it, okay?
He chuckled inwardly, but after wiping his face, he said with a bitter expression, "You heartless woman, I came back to remind you that the Blood King will be coming tomorrow."
Ruoxue stopped laughing, her expression turning serious. A sinister smile crept across her face as she sneered, "Let him come. He has a path to heaven but chooses to brave the gates of hell. Let him experience the fires of hell!"
As she slowly plotted how to deal with the Blood King tomorrow, she glanced sideways at Han Xingyu, who was still there, and said coldly, "Why aren't you leaving yet?"
"I'm delivering your message, shouldn't I get a reward?" Han Xingyu narrowed her phoenix eyes, smiling like a fox.
Ruoxue sneered, "That sip of tea was a reward, a small one. If you ever dare to treat my room as your own home again, coming and going as you please, barging in without knocking, I'll scald your face with boiling water. Your pretty face will be ruined!"
Han Xingyu feigned fear, covering her face and saying again in a pitiful tone, "You heartless woman!"
"If you call me heartless again, I'll scald you with boiling water right now and turn your head into a pig's head!" Ruoxue picked up the teapot on the table, pretending to pour it on him.
Han Xingyu let out a wail: "A good man doesn't fight with a woman! I'm leaving!" He rushed out the door and ran away, but he didn't use teleportation. Instead, he ran as fast as he could, as if he were escaping for his life.
Watching his disheveled retreating figure, Ruoxue burst into laughter again. These two bursts of laughter made her feel exceptionally cheerful. Back in her room, her eyes met the teacup, and she couldn't help but smile again.
Behind the screen, Han Xingyu watched her intently. After running out of the room, he had deliberately fled in a disheveled state to make her happy. After leaving, he teleported back, still worried, and hid behind the screen to keep an eye on her. Only when he saw her go to bed to rest did he feel relieved.
Have I really fallen for her? For this heartless woman, I seem to have been doing things that I might have thought were foolish in the past, but now I feel particularly comfortable doing them.
Falling in love with such a heartless woman, I'll suffer a lot in the future, won't I? She's clearly making a joke out of my suffering, how cruel of her!
He cursed the heartless woman several times in his heart, but the corners of his mouth remained turned up. Then, he flashed away from Ruoxue's room and disappeared.
