Traversing countless worlds from the primordial era

Chapter 35 Chase and Escape

Jin Lu's mind raced, his desire to capture Lei Ming growing even stronger. The Earth Spirit Banner waved, and countless Yin spirits rushed towards Lei Ming, crashing into the Five Elements Formation.

Lei Ming knew he was no match for Jin Lu. With a flash of Five Elements Divine Light, the Five Elements Spiritual Beasts disappeared, and he himself vanished into the earth, leaving those yin spirits empty-handed.

"Where do you think you're going!" Jinlu sat back on Dimo, holding the Earth Spirit Flag. Dimo twitched its nose and chased after them into the depths of Hidden Dragon Ridge.

Lei Ming's earth-遁术 (earth-遁术 is a type of magic that is highly sophisticated and far surpasses ordinary intermediate-level spells), yet even so, he could not escape Jin Lu. That Di Mo was truly formidable; it could clearly detect Lei Ming's aura within a radius of a hundred miles, and its speed was also considerable, able to keep up with Lei Ming.

However, Lei Ming escaped more than 200 meters underground, making it difficult for Jin Lu to catch him.

"I refuse to believe that you won't come out once your magic power is exhausted!" Jinlu thought fiercely.

Nestled among the green mountains, shrouded in a thin mist, beneath a cliff, grew a crystal-clear spiritual herb. The herb was surrounded by fluctuations of an array, clearly indicating that someone had placed a restriction around it.

At noon, the medicinal herb suddenly unfurled, swaying in the wind and emitting a fragrant aroma. This change triggered the array, and in the Spirit Beast Mountain, an old man in a floral robe laughed heartily.

"The Blood Jade Mushroom is finally ripe!" The old man soared into the sky and flew towards Hidden Dragon Ridge. His speed was extremely fast and his power was extremely strong. No demon beast dared to stop him.

The old man had a gourd hanging from his waist, his eyes fixed on the Blood Jade Mushroom. Red threads slowly grew inside the originally crystal-clear Blood Jade Mushroom. Only when the red threads covered it could it be considered truly mature.

The old man calculated the time; at most two days, the Blood Jade Mushroom would be fully mature. He carved out a cave in the cliff and meditated inside.

Lei Ming and Jin Lu chased each other, and when they fled, Lei Ming would sometimes use earth-escape techniques and sometimes wood-escape techniques. He circled around in the mountains, and Jin Lu had no choice but to follow.

Lei Ming carried a lot of pills with him. He rarely used pills during his normal cultivation, but now he had no other way to replenish his mana.

"This kid has already fled thousands of miles, but I didn't expect his magic power to still be intact." Jin Lu was puzzled; Lei Ming's speed hadn't decreased. But the more this was the case, the less Jin Lu would give up. He was eager to know Lei Ming's secret.

Lei Ming suddenly emerged from the cliff and vanished into the forest below, where the Blood Jade Mushroom was just a few hundred meters away. Although it was only for a moment, the old man still sensed the fluctuation of spiritual energy. Before he could think much of it, Jin Lu arrived.

"Could it be that they've come to steal my Blood Jade Mushroom?" the old man roared in anger. He held up his gourd, and a white shadow flew out. The shadow transformed into a three-zhang-long centipede, its entire body white, as smooth as ice and snow.

The centipede spat out a breath of white vapor at the approaching golden goose. The vapor touched the rocks, and the rocks immediately froze and shattered.

"A fifth-tier demonic beast, the Frost Centipede!" Jin Lu was caught off guard and was greatly surprised. Black demonic flames surged out, blocking the white mist.

"The Demon Flame Gate!" The old man rushed over, looking at Jin Lu with surprise and uncertainty.

Jin Lu looked at the other person: "You are the Five Poisons Master from Spirit Beast Mountain."

The two cautiously distanced themselves, and just then, Jinlu spotted the Blood Jade Fungus in the distance.

The Five Poisons Master quickly stepped in front of him: "What are you people from the Demon Flame Sect doing here at my Hidden Dragon Ridge?"

Jin Lu shifted his gaze from the Blood Jade Fungus: "Fellow Daoist Wudu, you misunderstand. I was merely chasing a petty thief and passing through this place. I never expected you to have such good fortune as to encounter the Blood Jade Fungus!"

"In that case, fellow Daoist, please leave on your own," said the Five Poisons Master.

Jin Lu was somewhat reluctant to part with the Blood Jade Mushroom, but after thinking about it, Lei Ming was more important, so he nodded and prepared to leave. Seeing this, the Five Poisons Master couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Just then, a figure appeared within the formation set up by the Five Poisons Master; it was Lei Ming. Lei Ming casually plucked the Blood Jade Mushroom and shouted to Jin Lu, "Uncle-Master, the elixir is in hand!"

Jin Lu was stunned for a moment, but Wu Du Shangren was already furious. He was convinced that Jin Lu and Lei Ming were in cahoots, and countless poisonous insects flew out of the gourd at his waist.

"Five Poisons Grand Formation!" The Five Poisons Master chanted the incantation, and a colorful grand formation surrounded the Golden Lu. Thick plumes of poisonous smoke rose one after another, and the vegetation within a hundred meters withered instantly.

"Fellow Daoist, you've misunderstood. He's the little thief I've been chasing!" Jin Lu quickly explained, taking out the Earth Spirit Banner at the same time. The Earth Spirit Banner was Jin Lu's natal magic weapon, possessing immense power. The black mist emanating from the Earth Spirit Banner blocked the poisonous smoke, making Jin Lu feel slightly relieved.

"That's good!" Lei Ming couldn't help but chuckle when he saw this. He took the Blood Jade Mushroom and fled, leaving Jin Lu and the Five Poisons Master to fight.

Two days later, Lei Ming fled thousands of miles before stopping to recover his magical power.

"I relied on the Five Elements Divine Light to perform the escape technique, which consumed far less mana than normal spells. Otherwise, I really wouldn't have been able to keep going." Lei Ming sighed inwardly. He had run tens of thousands of miles in one go, and his mana was almost exhausted.

After resting for half a day, Lei Ming's magical power was restored. He took out the Blood Jade Fungus and examined it closely.

"It's a pity that this Blood Jade Mushroom will soon be fully mature..." Lei Ming shook his head. The Blood Jade Mushroom is a rare spiritual herb that can purify the bloodline of demonic beasts, enhance their strength, and increase the probability of them forming their core or even their nascent soul. This spiritual herb is very popular in Spirit Beast Mountain and can be considered its most precious treasure.

Lei Ming didn't use the Blood Jade Mushroom; he planned to take it back and let Han Li see if it could be planted.

"We can't stay in Hidden Dragon Ridge any longer; we should leave as soon as possible."

Lei Ming packed up and was about to leave when a powerful pressure suddenly arrived. Lei Ming looked up and saw the Five Poisons Master standing in mid-air in front of him, and Jin Lu riding the Di Mo behind him, both sneering at him.

"What's wrong with you two...?" Lei Ming pointed at the two of them, looking puzzled.

"Kid, you didn't expect that, did you?" Jin Lu couldn't help but laugh when he saw Lei Ming's expression.

Two days ago, they were tricked by Lei Ming, and the two fought. After that, it took them a lot of effort to find Lei Ming.

Lei Ming glanced at the Five Poisons Master, who was dressed in brightly colored clothes, and said, "Senior, you are a master from Spirit Beast Mountain, why don't you eliminate demons and protect the righteous path?"

The Five Poisons Master's eyes blazed with fury: "Boy, you've ruined 30 years of my life's work! Hand over the Blood Jade Mushroom now!"

Lei Ming forced a smile and said, "Senior, this is a misunderstanding. The Blood Jade Mushroom is useless to me, and I will naturally offer it to you if you want it. But I am being chased by this demon, and I beg you for your help. Otherwise, my strength is too weak to stop the demon, and the Blood Jade Mushroom will probably be destroyed."

Threatened by Lei Ming, the Five Poisons Master hesitated.

Jin Lu sneered, "Little thief, don't bother. Spirit Beast Mountain has deep ties with my demonic path. What demon are they trying to exterminate?"

"Fellow Daoist Jin!" said the Five Poisons Master with displeasure.

Jin Lu laughed and said, "Fellow Daoist, there's no need to worry. With the two of us working together, how could he possibly escape? It's better for him to die knowing why. Your Spirit Beast Mountain originates from the Spirit Control Sect; this is a secret that outsiders probably wouldn't even guess."

Lei Ming then understood why the two had come hand in hand, and also realized Jin Lu's intentions. Jin Lu had told him this secret clearly to incite the Five Poisons Master to kill him.

The Five Poisons Master took out a gourd, and poisonous creatures such as the Frost Centipede, Jade Toad, and Phoenix Tail Scorpion pounced on Lei Ming. Among them, the Frost Centipede was the strongest, being a fifth-order demon beast, while most of the other poisonous creatures were fourth-order.

So many poisonous creatures rushed towards him that Lei Ming's expression changed, and he immediately tried to flee. Jin Lu pointed to the ground, and the earth beneath Lei Ming's feet turned golden.

"You're not getting away this time."

Jin Lu was disappointed. Lei Ming fled again, turning earth into gold. Although Lei Ming could not use earth escape, he could use metal escape.

The Five Poisons Master was greatly alarmed: "Fellow Daoist, what's going on?"

Jin Lu was also helpless: "Fellow Daoist Wudu, don't worry, he can't escape!" Then he rode Di Mo to chase after Lei Ming again.

……

Above the swamp, a black-eyed lizard beast over ten zhang long spat venom at the Five Poisons Master. The venom fell into the swamp, making it seem as if the swamp had been boiled.

"Jade Umbrella!" The Five Poisons Master raised an umbrella-shaped magic weapon to block the poison. On the other side, Jin Lu waved the Earth Spirit Flag in his hand, and Yin Sha Qi enveloped the Black-Eyed Lizard Beast, which roared repeatedly.

"Fire Spirit Sword, go!" Jinlu spat out a flying sword, which struck the Black-Eyed Lizard Beast, causing it to glow with black light. Then, its claws struck the flying sword. The sword shone brightly, slashing at the beast's claws.
