Chapter 1 Detection

The Wizarding World.

Stormy Sea, Queteid Islands, Viscount Holloway.

The castle hall, which was usually almost inaccessible to the people, was now packed with people.

All the boys in the territory who had reached the age of twelve were summoned here by Viscount Holloway's men. They lined up in several rows and waited respectfully to enter the hall to undergo a wizard qualification test.

Before entering the castle, the boys were told that wizarding aptitude is divided into five levels, with level one being the lowest and level five being the highest. Each level is further divided into upper, middle, and lower grades.

To obtain a precious ticket to travel to the main continent with the wizard, one must be found to possess at least a third-class qualification.

After the test is completed, if the conditions are not met, you must not cry or make a fuss, otherwise the Viscount will be very angry and the consequences will be severe.

Link, of course, wouldn't be intimidated by words meant to scare children.

As a time traveler, he possesses the standard cheat-like abilities, which is his source of confidence.

Along with his soul transmigrated, he was introduced to a pay-to-win gacha system, which was accessed through a simple panel.

The content displayed on the panel is not fixed, but changes as his understanding changes.

Link Grand

Qualification: Level 4

Card Pack: None available

Used: None

Number of draws: 1

Previously, Link didn't know how wizard aptitude was categorized, and there was no "wizard aptitude" option on his panel.

Only after learning the information did the panel update to show his wizard aptitude.

After a short wait, we were about to enter the lobby.

"Fine, I'll just draw the card and guarantee a minimum reward."

Lin Ke gritted his teeth, no longer holding onto the first draw opportunity he had painstakingly saved up for over a year to obtain. He summoned the system, roaring inwardly, "God of Luck is on my side!"

The system's card draw had no special effects; only slight changes occurred on the simple panel.

Link Grand

Qualification: Level 4

Card Pack: "Brain Occupation" Learning Cards (A simple tap to get started in seconds)

Used: None

Number of draws: 0

"this……"

Link felt like his last-minute cramming hadn't worked.

"Brain Occupation" does not seem to help with wizard aptitude testing.

"Never mind, I just wanted peace of mind anyway."

Soon, Link stopped worrying about it.

He decisively chose to use the "Brain Occupation" learning card.

He shivered slightly, and a piece of information appeared out of nowhere in his mind. In a very short moment, Link mastered the "Brain Occupation Technique".

The next second, Link felt himself change.

Become more rational and better able to control your emotions and memories.

Before Link could even process the changes, the butler led the boys quietly and orderly into the hall.

In the hall, at the head of the table sat a wizard wearing a hooded grey robe.

Viscount Holloway, who held the power of life and death over everyone in the entire territory, sat to the wizard's left, showing none of his usual domineering airs.

Link is in the middle of the third column from the left.

He tilted his head and secretly sized up the wizard who had alarmed the entire territory the day before, but he could only see a cloud of ever-changing mist, unable to make out the wizard's appearance at all.

After looking at it for a few more seconds, my eyes started to sting, and tears started streaming down my face.

Link quickly lowered his head to avoid eye contact.

"So this is a wizard? Truly extraordinary!"

Link was somewhat excited.

Having transmigrated to this world for over a year, and carefully impersonating the original body, Link repeatedly heard legends about wizards who wielded mysterious and extraordinary powers. He also witnessed firsthand the astonishing destructive power of the knight system, which was said to be an accidental product of wizard experiments. As a result, Link developed an extremely strong curiosity about wizards.

Now, the opportunity to become a wizard is right in front of him, and Link wants to seize it.

Knowing he was certain he would pass the test, Link naturally wouldn't risk anything and instead opted for a low-key and steady approach.

So he didn't dare to look at the wizard anymore, but instead observed the upcoming wizard qualification testing ceremony.

On the square table in front of the wizard, there were two crystal balls, one on the left and one on the right.

The crystal ball on the left is colorless and transparent, while the crystal ball on the right is black and transparent.

"Let's begin."

As the boys waited for their tests, sweat beading on their foreheads and practically ants on a hot plate, the wizard finally spoke.

The four boys and girls standing behind the wizard exchanged glances.

A moment later, a blonde, blue-eyed girl walked to the square table, turned her back to the wizard, and faced the crowd.

Her voice was clear and melodious, and she spoke naturally, "In a moment, you will all do as I do, placing your hands on the two crystal balls respectively, and no matter what happens, do not let go until Wizard Paro confirms the test results."

As she spoke, the girl demonstrated.

She placed her hands on the crystal balls, and soon each crystal ball emitted a different light.

The colorless, transparent crystal ball emits a light that is predominantly cyan, with small amounts of blue and yellow accents.

The black, transparent crystal ball emitted a dazzling white light.

"What are these measurements for?"

Link was somewhat bewildered and puzzled.

At this moment, Wizard Paro spoke: "Innate spiritual power 13, high affinity for wood element, intermediate affinity for water and earth elements, overall wizard aptitude rating is third-class (upper level)."

The blonde, blue-eyed girl clearly already knew her own abilities and didn't react much to the result. After bowing to the wizard Paro, she returned to her original position.

Upon hearing this, Link pondered for a moment, a look of understanding flashing across his face.

It is obvious that the black transparent crystal ball measures innate spiritual power, while the colorless transparent crystal ball measures elemental affinity.

The specific standards for the overall assessment of wizard aptitude are unclear.

Just as Link was pondering, the boy who was first in the first row from the left had already stepped forward for testing.

He was slightly nervous and reserved. He rubbed his hands vigorously on his clothes to wipe away the cold sweat from his palms before carefully placing them on the crystal ball.

The colorless transparent crystal ball emitted a faint yellow light and a dimmer black light, while the black transparent crystal ball emitted an almost invisible white light.

"Unsatisfactory, next one."

The wizard Paro spoke in a detached voice.

The boy looked dejected, his mouth agape, and tears fell silently.

He was heartbroken that he had missed the chance to change his fate and never be a fisherman again, but he dared not cry loudly or make a scene.

The boy turned and left dejectedly.

But the other boys and girls behind the boy were excited and impatient until the same result happened to them.

But fate never changes according to one's own will.

"Unsatisfactory, next one."

"Unsatisfactory, next one."

"Unsatisfactory, next one."

Two whole rows, twenty people in total, and not one of them could get a "qualified" evaluation from the wizard Paro, nor could any of them know their innate spiritual power or elemental affinity.

For the wizard Paro, there's no need to waste his breath on unqualified people.

As one person after another left, the teenagers who were still waiting for testing were no longer as excited and expectant as before.

The atmosphere grew heavy, and many people sighed from time to time.

Link's initially calm demeanor became tense.

Please note in advance that this book's setting is inspired by several excellent wizarding novels. If you encounter similarities or even identical elements later in the story, please don't be too surprised. Thank you!
