Chapter 482, Section 479: Iphamoni
As Hermione, or rather Mr. Weasley, said, when wizards get together, they always want to show off.
They could easily have arrived at Hogwarts using a Portkey, or at the very least, Dumbledore could have temporarily opened an area within the school for them to Apparate into. But the wizards of these schools did not intend to make their entrance in such a simple and unremarkable way.
The Beauxbatons School of Witchcraft and Wizardry arrived in a house-sized carriage pulled by twelve pale blue celestial horses, soaring through the sky above the Forbidden Forest before landing in front of the Hogwarts welcoming party.
The headmistress of the magic academy from France, Madame Maxime, was a woman of extremely robust build, just like Hagrid. She was followed by a dozen or so wizards and witches who stepped down from the carriage.
They didn't seem to be used to the British weather, each of them covering their faces with scarves, looking quite cold.
Dumbledore and Mrs. Maxim exchanged warm greetings. Unlike the Hogwarts students, the Beauxbatons students did not wait outside. They eagerly entered the Great Hall, their thin robes making them feel unbearably cold.
"I once visited Beauxbatons School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and one of their buildings was pure white, which gave me the feeling of entering Gringotts to withdraw money."
Among the professors' group, Fox and Lynn were talking quietly.
"Their school environment is indeed very nice. Unlike Hogwarts, which has a deep Forbidden Forest, it is decorated with a huge garden. The French have always liked this kind of style."
Lynn shrugged. "Does Beauxbatons have a rule against dating at a young age?"
Fox laughed: "If that were true, the ceilings of their school would probably be torn down by angry couples."
The Durmstrang School of Witchcraft and Wizardry team also made an unconventional entrance, emerging from the bottom of the Black Lake at Hogwarts aboard a ghostly sailboat, causing a great shock to the young wizards in front of the castle.
What shocked them even more was that Durmstrang's team included Viktor Krum, a star player from this year's Quidditch World Cup final.
Some of the little girls at Hogwarts couldn't find their quills and started discussing whether he would agree to sign his hat if they offered him their lipsticks.
Even the boys were very excited. Ron stretched his neck like a giraffe, wishing he could press his face against Krum's.
But even after the two European academies arrived, their formation could not be broken, because Iphamoni's guests had not yet arrived.
They waited for a long time in front of the castle gates, and the young wizards of Hogwarts were all freezing. Just as Dumbledore frowned and was about to tell the students to go back to the Great Hall and not wait outside, a sudden gust of wind swept around them!
In an instant, the sky became overcast, and a large bird with golden feathers covered the sky above Hogwarts Castle!
"It's a Thunderbird, a magical creature native to the Americas," Fox explained to Lynn, pressing down his windbreaker which had been billowing in the wind.
The young wizards of Hogwarts were blown about by the air currents created by the Thunderbird, and the enormous bird suddenly landed in front of the castle gate.
A woman dressed in a bright green wizard's robe, with short, light blonde hair, and a very capable appearance, jumped off the Thunderbird.
Dumbledore looked rather grim, but he still stepped forward to meet him.
"Ms. Picqueli, you are late."
"I'm sorry, Principal Dumbledore, you know we have to cross the entire Atlantic Ocean, and the journey is not easy. Being half an hour late is already a result of our best efforts."
Piqueli sounded like she was apologizing, but no one could hear any remorse in her words.
The young wizards of Ilfamoni jumped down from the giant thunderbird. There were about twenty of them, each with a cold expression and undisguised arrogance in their eyes as they looked at the young wizards of Hogwarts.
The Hogwarts students naturally didn't have a good impression of them either. It was because these people were late that they had to freeze outside the castle for so long, so it would be strange if they had a good impression of them.
Although Dumbledore also seemed very displeased, he was, after all, the host, and could not turn his back on the guests who had come from afar on the spot. He invited Piccolo and her students into the castle.
The enormous Thunderbird was fed by the caretakers who accompanied Ilfamoni, who were clearly worried that Hogwarts wouldn't take good care of their mount.
Fox and Lynn walked side by side at the back of the line.
"This woman named Tina Picqueli wasn't the principal of Ivamony before, or rather, a month ago she had no connection with that magic academy except for serving as the head of the Major Crimes Investigation Division of the Magical Congress of the United States. She only recently acquired the position of honorary principal of Ivamony, and now she can legitimately lead the team here using her principal's title."
Lynn sneered.
"They really don't even bother to hide it."
"Because there's no need to hide it. Since you and I are both here, it means Dumbledore already knows everything, so naturally he doesn't want to waste any more time on pretense."
They entered the warm auditorium.
The Hogwarts students were already shivering from the cold, and as soon as they entered, they hurriedly found a few warm seats to sit down, while the young wizards from the other three magic schools also pushed together on the long tables of their respective schools.
The students of Efarmoni sat at the Hufflepuff house table, the students of Beauxbatons shared a table with the students of Ravenclaw, and Durmstrang sat at the table with the Slytherin students.
After a brief opening speech, Dumbledore announced the start of the dinner, without much further elaboration.
The students from the four houses seemed to get along quite well, sitting at the same table eating and chatting. Even Evamoni's atmosphere at Hufflepuff's table was alright, since the little badgers were all honest people and didn't hold grudges against others.
This dinner was specially made for guests who had come from afar, with a lot of French dishes and American-style hamburgers and fried chicken on the menu. The young wizards from Hogwarts weren't quite used to the food, but overall it was still quite novel.
The headmasters of the four schools, including Dumbledore, sat at a long table on the high platform, along with the heads of the four Hogwarts houses, Fawkes, and Lynn.
Dumbledore introduced it to the other school principals.
"Lynn Bellocchio, the most outstanding student at Hogwarts in the last hundred years, is the current and first Hogwarts Student Council President."
