Chapter 447, Section 444: The Door Key

"Then I won't sleep either, I'll just stay here and wait with you."

Hermione also sat on the sofa and spoke.

Lynn felt it wasn't necessary and wanted her to go to sleep.

"You don't even know Professor Fox, and besides, he might not even come tonight."

"I need to get to know him precisely because he doesn't know me. It's fine if he doesn't come tonight, I'm not sleepy anyway."

Lynn couldn't do anything about her; she couldn't just herd her to bed like a duck, so she could only let her wait in the living room.

"What match was it that Mr. Weasley forbade you to mention at dinner yesterday?"

Hermione looked at Lynn; she hadn't forgotten about it yet.

"Of course, if you're worried I'll leak it and don't tell me, that's fine too; I understand."

She said she understood, but in reality she was staring at Lynn intently, silently putting pressure on him with her eyes.

This isn't really something to hide, and besides, Hermione isn't as talkative as Harry and Ron.

"The Triwizard Tournament was a competition that was once jointly organized by three magic schools in Europe, but it was later canceled due to the high casualty rate. Who knows what got into the Ministry of Magic and those magic schools this year, they're planning to revive the competition."

Hermione's eyes widened.

"You mean this is a tournament jointly organized by Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons?"

"Yes, but actually the competition process has little to do with most students in the school. Each school can only select one warrior, and I have never understood the point of holding this event."

Hermione clicked her tongue.

"Regardless of its significance, this is already a major event in the European magical world."

Suddenly she stared at Lynn, her eyes unblinking.

"So, you'll be participating, right?"

"No," Lynn said, shaking his head without hesitation.

"Putting aside whether I meet the age requirement, even if I do, don't you think it's a bit unfair for me to participate?"

Hermione nodded hesitantly.

"It is indeed a bit... bullying."

"Therefore, in order to maintain harmonious relations among the three magic schools in Europe, I'd better not participate in this competition."

Hermione was very firm in saying she would stay up all night with Lynn to wait for them, but as she talked, her voice started to get slurred, her head couldn't help but lean towards Lynn, and she eventually fell asleep on his shoulder.

Lynn originally wanted to shake her awake and let her go back to her room to sleep, but after looking at Hermione's sleeping face, he hesitated for a long time and ultimately did not have a sexist outburst and do something that no normal human being would do.

Time passed by, and Lynn waited until 5 a.m. the next day but still didn't see a trace of Professor Fox.

He looked at the briefcase on the table, hesitated for a moment, and finally decided to open it.

Without waking Hermione, he gently used a lock-picking charm with his fingers to unlock the box, and then opened the suitcase completely.

The moment the box was opened, a faint blue light shone from within, and countless unidentified, umbrella-shaped, fluorescent objects, resembling dandelion spores, flew out of the box and drifted around.

Lynn stared blankly at the things that looked like willow catkins fluttering in the wind, when a small piece of one of them touched the back of his hand.

The next moment, he vanished from the spot!

Hermione, who had been sleeping on Lynn's shoulder, suddenly felt her head go empty and fell onto the sofa.

She sat up somewhat bewildered, staring blankly at the swirling fireflies around her, and instinctively reached out to touch one of them.

Then, she disappeared too.

In the empty living room, the dancing fireflies hovered in the deserted space for several minutes before their light gradually dimmed and finally disappeared into the air without a trace.

As the sun rose higher and no one called for her to get up early, Umaru, who had slept soundly, stretched and walked out of her bedroom. Seeing the empty tent, she realized something was wrong and rushed anxiously into the Weasley family's camp.

Beneath my feet was a wet patch of grass.

Lynn stood steadily on the empty meadow, surrounded by a barren hill with few trees, no houses or buildings, and messy weeds everywhere.

The sky was a starry sky, with a waning moon hanging high in the night sky. One second he was still in the tent and could see the sunrise outside, and the next second the sky had turned into the deep of night.

This isn't time travel; that familiar feeling of traversing space was clearly the key to the portal.

The things in the box were all door keys, and the moment he touched them, he was transported to this place.

Lynn's heart sank suddenly, as if in response to his bad feeling. The next second, a familiar figure appeared beside him as if squeezed out of space.

He reached out and helped Hermione, who was caught off guard and almost fell to the ground, to steady herself.

Hermione's initially flustered heart calmed down considerably after seeing Lynn, and she looked around at the vast open field in a daze.

"Where are we, Lynn? Did you bring me here?"

Lynn gripped Hermione's hand tightly, frowning as he looked around.

"No, it's the box Professor Fox left behind, which is full of door keys."

"Then why did he send us here?"

Lynn calmly shook her head.

"I don't know, but I don't think Professor Fox would do something like this, given his personality. Although he sometimes likes to joke around with others, he would never do something like this that doesn't feel like a joke."

It's already August, but even at night, the temperature is still quite cold, and the biting chill is clearly uncomfortable.

Hermione was only wearing a thin short-sleeved shirt and was hugging her arms tightly because of the cold.

Lynn draped his outer robe over Hermione's shoulders; his constitution was tough enough that the cold was nothing to him.

"But didn't Professor Fox give you that box himself?"

Upon hearing Hermione's question, Lynn's lips curled into a cold smile.

"Professor Fox is a real jinx; he's been impersonated more than once or twice. It's not impossible that someone impersonated him this time to scheme against me."

The surroundings were eerily quiet, with no sound except for the howling wind.

However, just as Lynn finished speaking, countless shadows spread across their entire field of vision, like a large gray net covering all the space.
