Chapter 445 442. Veela

Mr. Weasley led the way, and everyone, clutching their purchases, hurried into the woods along the lantern-lit path.

They could hear hundreds of people moving around, shouts, laughter, and intermittent singing.

This fervent excitement was highly contagious, and Harry and his friends couldn't help but grin from ear to ear.

At the same time, they spotted the rose in Hermione's hand and Lynn's hands clasped together.

Immediately, Harry, Ron, and George Fried all wore knowing smiles.

They walked through the woods for twenty minutes, talking and laughing loudly, and finally emerged from the other side of the woods, where they found themselves in the shadow of a huge stadium.

From the outside, only a portion of the magnificent golden walls surrounding the stadium can be seen, but judging from the exterior alone, it could easily fit ten cathedrals inside.

Mr. Weasley explained to them.

"This stadium can hold 100,000 spectators, and 500 staff members of the Ministry of Magic have been working on it for a whole year. Every inch of this place has been enchanted with a Muggle-repelling charm, so that whenever a Muggle approaches here, they suddenly remember something urgent and hurriedly leave... May God bless them."

There were Ministry of Magic staff maintaining order at the entrance. Lynn and his group showed their tickets to a Ministry of Magic witch who was guarding the entrance.

"First class tickets," the witch at the entrance said, glancing at their tickets. "The penthouse! Keep going upstairs, Arthur, to the very top."

Although Lynn's ticket was given by Leon, it was placed in the same seat as Weasley's and the others' tickets, which was clearly intentional on his part.

The stairs leading to the stadium were covered with a crimson carpet. They climbed the stairs with the crowd, and slowly the flow of people entered the stands on the left and right.

Lynn and his group continued upwards until they reached the top of the stairs, where they found themselves in a small VIP box. The box was located at the highest point of the stadium, directly opposite the golden goalposts. There were about twenty purple and gold-plated chairs arranged in two rows.

This stadium, built by the British Ministry of Magic over a year, certainly has its unique features.

Everything here is shrouded in a mysterious golden light, as if the light comes from the stadium itself.

From their elevated position, the court appeared as smooth and flat as velvet. On each side of the court stood three basketball hoops, each fifty feet high. To their right, almost at Lynn's eye level, was a huge blackboard.

Words kept appearing and disappearing on the blackboard, and only after looking closely at the content could one discover that they were all GG.

Such a large stadium and such a grand event must have cost a lot of money to build and host. If the British Ministry of Magic had to bear all of this cost, the Ministry's internal finances would inevitably suffer a huge deficit this year.

Therefore, using GG fees to fill this huge hole is clearly the right decision.

After all, this is the Quidditch World Cup final, and Quidditch holds a much higher place in the hearts of wizards than football does in the hearts of Muggles.

Muggles have more than just football, but the only sport truly recognized by wizards is Quidditch.

That's why there are about 100,000 wizards gathered here. Saying that they make up half of the total population of the global magical community might be an exaggeration, but it's at least a quarter.

Under such circumstances, the GG fee in the finals will naturally be high, and may even fetch an astronomical price at auction.

Lynn noticed that he had a stake in many of the companies whose products were constantly flashing by, so he guessed that Old John had also participated in the bidding for the GG slots.

Lynn was studying the GG slots, while Harry was chatting with the house-elf Brilliant in the same box.

Old Crouch loves his son dearly. Even though Crouch Jr. only has the mental capacity of an eight-year-old, he still takes him to watch his favorite Quidditch World Cup match, even though Crouch Jr. is wearing an invisibility cloak. He's not afraid that something might go wrong and he'll be discovered, which would ruin Crouch Jr.'s reputation and career.

Before long, the private room was filled with people.

Unsurprisingly, the first-class seats were filled with prominent wizards, including even the Minister of Magic, Fudge, and the Bulgarian Minister of Magic who was speaking Bulgarian in a language no one else could understand.

Fudge seemed to have completely forgotten that he had met Lynn at a dinner party a year ago and had a conversation with him. He simply took Harry's hand and introduced him to the wizards around them.

But Harry didn't appreciate it and his expression was very stiff.

He had no goodwill towards the Minister of Magic because of Sirius's incident. To this day, the Ministry of Magic has not given Sirius a clear apology. Even though Sirius is sitting in this box now, most of the politicians are ignoring him as if they don't even see him.

Hermione was flipping through her velvet-covered, tasseled competition manual.

"There will be a performance by the team mascot before the game," she read.

"Oh, that's always worth seeing," said Mr. Weasley. "National teams bring some exotic animals from their countries to put on a show here."

As they were talking about this, the last "GG" on the blackboard at the competition venue was erased, and it became Bulgaria: 0, Ireland: 0.

On the right side of the stands was a neat, bright red square formation, which erupted into loud cheers.

At the same time, Mr. Weasley leaned out of his seat.

"It's a Veela!"

Harry and his friends were basically hearing the term for the first time, just as they were about to ask what a Veela was.

Bulgaria's mascot made its appearance first.

One hundred women, so beautiful they defied description, glided toward the center of the arena. Their skin was as white and delicate as moonlight, their long hair moved without wind, and they exuded an irresistible charm that no man could resist!

The breathing of most of the male wizards on the field became heavy in an instant. They couldn't help but throw away their Irish shamrock badges, subconsciously believing that they were fans of the Bulgarian team. At the same time, they involuntarily stood up from their seats as if they wanted to jump off the stands to hug the Veela.

Harry and Ron behaved the same way. Apart from the upper-class wizards who were already used to the Veela's charm, only Lynn, who was seeing this creature for the first time, did not show any unusual reaction.

He was even still analyzing the practicality of this magic.

"It's an indiscriminate, wide-range charm magic, or something these creatures are born with. It should be very useful as a secret weapon, but if the enemy knows about it beforehand, there are many ways to defend against it. If these creatures don't have any other means after transforming, they'll probably only be destined to be mascots."
