Chapter 341, Chapter 338: The Disciplinary Committee Member

After Lynn became a figure of utmost respect among the students at Hogwarts, his friendships and past actions naturally came under the scrutiny of the young wizards in the castle.

Even the story of how he single-handedly stormed into the Forbidden Forest and rescued Professor Fawkes, the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor from his first year, became a source of bragging rights for older students when telling stories to younger students.

His closest friends in the castle naturally attracted the attention of others.

Cedric and Ian certainly wouldn't use their relationship with Lynn as something to brag about at school, but even if they didn't brag, everyone knew that they were the closest to Lynn, and even though they weren't in the same college, they always ate together.

This is also why Ian didn't have this idea when he first voted for student council officers, but many people in Ravenclaw voted for him.

They were not only believing in him, but also in "Professor Bellock's friend".

Therefore, when Hermione attended the student council recruitment event, the ministers who were recruiting would more or less take care of Hermione because of Lynn.

It's no secret that Hermione and Lynn were childhood sweethearts at Hogwarts.

Because apart from his cousin Umaru, Lynn only makes intimate gestures towards Hermione, which makes many female students who admire Professor Belloc and have designs on him envious, jealous and hateful of Hermione.

This is why Hermione passed the three recruitment events she attended, both the Disciplinary Committee and the Student Union, but failed to pass the Public Relations Department.

The head of the propaganda department was a Slytherin upperclassman, and she clearly had her eye on Lynn, a promising talent from her own house, and didn't want Hermione, an outsider from the rival house, to ruin it.

After much deliberation between the disciplinary committee and the clubs, Hermione ultimately chose the disciplinary committee.

The reason is simple: I heard that the disciplinary committee member's office is very close to the chairman's office, making it convenient for them to visit each other.

Harry joined the Arts and Sports Department as he wished, but Ron failed to become an executive member. He tried his luck in the Clubs and Societies Department and was successfully selected.

Only after the student council's recruitment fair was completely over could the organization truly begin to function.

Starting from the second week of school, the young wizards in the castle were surprised to find that all the disciplinary committee members wore armbands to identify themselves, and that they had begun to exercise their authority.

It's worth mentioning that although Hogwarts is a magic school, it is still a school at its core. And as with any school, school violence is an unavoidable topic.

On Tuesday of the second week of school, a disciplinary officer from Hufflepuff House discovered three Slytherin students bullying a student from a Gryffindor Muggle family during a routine patrol of the castle.

He protected the Gryffindor underclassman, deducted five points from each of the three Slytherin students, and punished them by making them clean public toilets for a week.

That noon, all the young wizards witnessed the moment the disciplinary committee member uttered "Slytherin points deducted," and the green gem hourglass in the Great Hall, representing Slytherin, began to deduct the corresponding points.

This was the first point deducted by a student council member, and its significance was immense.

If this incident demonstrates that the Student Council truly holds power at Hogwarts, then another incident shows that the Disciplinary Committee members are the real Aurors of Hogwarts.

Wednesday afternoon.

Ron and Harry had just finished their Charms class. Hermione didn't leave with them; it was her turn to be on duty as the disciplinary committee member today, patrolling various parts of the castle.

Harry and Ron, who were on their way back to the Gryffindor common room, ran into Malfoy and his two henchmen Goyle and Crabbe, who had also just finished class and were heading back to the Slytherin common room.

Malfoy's hand is still bandaged. The injury he sustained in Hagrid's class wasn't actually serious, but he'd rather keep pretending so that Hagrid would be punished and Harry and the others would suffer.

In the corridor, the two groups, who were already at odds, naturally exchanged a barrage of sarcastic remarks.

"I heard that big oaf's classes are getting worse and worse. I always said he was never cut out to be a professor. He'd be expelled from Hogwarts sooner or later, and it's not impossible that he'd end up in Azkaban."

Harry and Ron looked gloomy.

"Hagrid has guarded the Forbidden Forest for so many years, and he has always been an expert on magical creatures. I think you, or anyone else, know why he turned out this way."

"Know? Know what? Know that he let that damned beast attack me? And that he'll pay for it right away?" Malfoy and his two henchmen sneered at Harry and Ron, whose faces were contorted with embarrassment.

Harry suddenly started laughing too.

"You look really smug now, Malfoy. You don't show any trace of the person who was terrified and crying for their mother last year. What's wrong? It hasn't been that long and you've already forgotten about it?"

Malfoy's face was ashen; Harry's words had brutally reopened his wounds.

"What did you say! You worthless bug who can only live in a poor wretch's house!"

"I say, it's ridiculous that you were crying your eyes out after Lynn taught you a lesson last year, but you're all smug here today," Harry said with a smile, as if he had found Malfoy's weakness.

Malfoy's face turned red with anger, and in his fury, he drew his wand.

"A dragon has emerged from its cave!"

Black mist formed a hideous serpent at the tip of Malfoy's wand, its tongue flicking as it prepared to attack Harry and Ron.

Before Harry and his friends could react, a loud spell rang out behind them.

"Stop the curse immediately!"

The giant serpent that Malfoy had summoned with a spell vanished instantly, and all five people involved in the conflict looked toward the person who had suddenly intervened.

It's Percy Weasley.

He wore a gold-edged armband on his right arm, which signified his position as the head of the disciplinary committee.

Percy's expression was serious, and his sharp gaze was fixed on Malfoy.

"Didn't you see the student council rules posted in front of the auditorium? Private fighting is prohibited inside the castle. Violators will have 10 points deducted from their corresponding college and be placed in solitary confinement for two months!"

Malfoy shouted angrily, "You're favoring Gryffindor! Those two bastards provoked me first!"

"He's talking nonsense!" Harry and Ron argued.

"I will investigate who provoked you first, but since you started it, according to the rules, you will have to bear these punishments regardless of who provoked you first!"
