Chapter 328 Chapter 326. Before Sorting
Chapter 329 Chapter 326. Before Sorting
Open your mouth.
Mrs. Pomfrey held up the medicine and gave instructions to Umaru.
"Ah~"
Umaru obediently opened her mouth wide so that Madam Pomfrey could feed her the medicine.
After she finished drinking the medicine with a frown, Mrs. Pomfrey put down the bottle: "How are you feeling now?"
Umaru patted her chest proudly: "I feel like I'm so hungry I could eat a whole cow."
Mrs. Pomfrey laughed and patted Umaru's head.
"It's a good thing to want to eat."
"Can I participate in the Sorting Ceremony?" Umaru asked, blinking at Madam Pomfrey.
"Of course you can. You just caught a cold, not the flu like your brother is worried. Hurry up, the freshmen are waiting in the small room behind the auditorium."
Umaru jumped excitedly off the high chair, about to run away in a flash, but then suddenly stopped as if she had remembered something, turned around and bowed respectfully to Madam Pomfrey.
"Thank you for taking care of me, madam."
Madam Pomfrey waved to her with a smile: "You're welcome. Go on, or the Sorting Ceremony might have already started."
Umaru ran out of the cubicle with her short legs and came to the room where the new students were waiting for the college sorting ceremony.
As soon as she entered the room, she looked around in the crowd and quickly found the person she was looking for.
Umaru quietly walked up behind a blonde girl and suddenly slapped her on the shoulder.
"Hi, Tom!"
Tom was lost in thought when she suddenly jumped in surprise. She patted her chest and turned around to give Umaru a disapproving look.
You startled me.
Umaru chuckled, "How was your summer at Hogwarts? Why didn't you want to stay with us?"
"You should call me Betty now, my full name is Betty Riddle," Tom whispered to Umaru before answering her question.
"I'm doing very well at Hogwarts. The house-elves are very skilled and helpful in cleaning my house. It's just that they get very agitated when I try to help them with chores, as if they've done something wrong."
The Hogwarts library is also very large. I read a lot of magic books and history books there. Magic wasn't that difficult to learn, or maybe it's because I already knew some of these spells.
A week ago, Professor Dumbledore asked Professor Snape to take me to Diagon Alley to buy a wand and this outfit. My current identity is that of a distant relative of Professor Dumbledore. Professor Snape didn't notice anything, except he muttered that my surname made him a little uncomfortable.
As for why I didn't go to your house back then, it's because I felt I had already caused Lin Entian enough trouble, and it wouldn't be right for me to continue staying at your house after I became human.
Umaru said with a regretful look, "That's such a shame. I was hoping you could come to my house and play games with me. Let me tell you, Mario is so much fun!"
The way Umaru and Tom chatted was completely different from the way the people around them were.
While the other young wizards were anxiously speculating whether the upcoming Sorting Ceremony would involve fighting dragons or battling trolls, Umaru was excitedly telling Tom how fun the game was.
This caused the young wizards around them to look at them with surprise.
Aren't you nervous?
A new student asked.
"There's nothing to be afraid of about the Sorting Ceremony, it's just... um!" Tom was about to explain to them that the Sorting Ceremony was just about wearing a tattered hat when Umaru covered her mouth.
"We were just trying to distract ourselves by talking about other things because we were so scared of the Sorting Ceremony," Umaru said sincerely.
The young wizards didn't notice anything amiss and instead chatted with them enthusiastically.
"Do you know anything about the inside story? I heard from others that we're going to fight trolls later, and those who fail will be kicked out of Hogwarts Castle."
Umaru also chatted with them enthusiastically: "The news you've heard is all too old-fashioned. It's said that Hogwarts has changed the Sorting Ceremony this year. Tonight we're going to explore the legendary Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin. If anyone fails to come out of the Chamber, they'll be expelled."
Tom, whose mouth was covered, squinted at Umaru, who was speaking as if it were the truth, and thought to himself, "Birds of a feather flock together. This little girl is just like her brother; she likes to lie to people."
The young wizards breathed a sigh of relief when they heard what Umaru had revealed.
"Entering a maze? That's alright, at least it won't be like fighting a giant hand-to-hand, where people might die."
"If you really think that, you're sorely mistaken!" Umaru exclaimed. "The Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin is a hundred times more terrifying than trolls! It contains monsters like basilisks!"
Umaru showed them a monster-like appearance with her teeth bared and claws out, but she didn't look like a snake monster at all; she looked more like a harmless little tiger.
However, not all of these young wizards were completely ignorant of what was happening at Hogwarts; some discovered a loophole in Umaru's words.
"But my older sister, who is currently in third grade, told me that last year, Professor Belloc, the youngest professor at Hogwarts, killed the basilisk that was as big as the castle. She keeps peeking at the Daily Prophet with Professor Belloc's picture on it at home and says she wishes she could be his girlfriend."
Immediately, Umaru looked at the boy warily: "Which college does your sister go to? What's her name?"
The boy was startled by her reaction and stammered, "She...she's at Ravenclaw Academy, her name is Sally Smith."
Umaru secretly memorized the name, intending to use it to tattle on Hermione and ask for a reward.
Of course, she hasn't forgotten to explain how the basilisk was killed.
"So what I'm saying is just hearsay. I can't guarantee whether it's true or not."
Umaru said confidently.
The young wizards had heard many similar rumors, but the one Umaru made up was more interesting. They didn't delve into the matter and quickly shifted the topic to "Professor Belloc," who had been making headlines last semester.
"I heard that Professor Belloc is the most outstanding student in the history of Hogwarts. He was only 14 years old when he became the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor last year. He should have been in his third year, but because the professor that Headmaster Dumbledore had chosen was actually a fraud, he had to let Professor Belloc impersonate him to take on the professorship."
