Chapter 324, Section 321: Procurement
"That's truly amazing!"
Lynn clicked his tongue and circled Hermione, who had just returned from her trip to France, before asking with a serious expression.
"So, do you have African ancestry?"
After spending the summer on the French coast, Hermione's once fair skin had turned wheat-colored, and she was so angry that she rushed over and tickled Lynn's armpits.
"I've only gotten this tanned! In a few months, no, in less than a month, I'll be back to my original skin color."
Lynn was overjoyed and grabbed Hermione's messy hand.
"Haha, don't be silly, I believe you, I believe you."
Hermione glared at him, her face slightly flushed as she withdrew her hand.
"You've seen the Daily Prophet lately. They're reporting on Sirius Black's escape from Azkaban every day, and there's even a warrant for his arrest on Muggle television."
"Because he's no ordinary criminal. Those imprisoned in Azkaban are all vicious dark wizards, while this escaped Black is guilty of killing more than a dozen Muggles with a spell, and he's also a loyal follower of Mystic. As long as someone like him is out there, everyone's life is in danger."
Lynn didn't explain to Hermione that Sirius was innocent. Putting aside how he knew, even if he did explain, no one would believe him without evidence.
"Hermione!"
Mrs. Granger's voice came from downstairs, and Hermione poked her head out of the Lynn's window and waved to her mother.
"We should go down now; Mom and Dad are ready."
Hermione Lynn and Umaru then got into Mr. Granger's car and set off for Diagon Alley.
Umaru also received her Hogwarts acceptance letter during the summer vacation, and bringing her along was to buy her related school supplies.
Because Hermione's family returned from France rather late, they arrived at Diagon Alley the day before school started, so there weren't many students on the street. As soon as they entered the Leaky Cauldron, Hermione spotted the Weasleys and Harry's group.
"Hey! Harry! And Ron too!"
Hearing the shouts, the Weasleys saw them. The Weasleys stood up and exchanged pleasantries with the Grangers, while the young wizards secretly ran into Diagon Alley.
"Professor Belloc, do you know who our new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor is this year?" Fred and George each put their arms around one of Lynn's shoulders and asked him with winks and smirks.
They had a very successful summer vacation. Before their trip to Egypt, Old John's magic company sent someone to the Weasleys' house to sign an impeccable contract with them in front of their parents and siblings, and paid them a considerable sum of money on the spot.
The twins generously offered to give the money to Mrs. Weasley for her to manage (in fact, they had already received an equivalent amount of money in advance).
This would no longer prevent Mrs. Weasley from tinkering with those gadgets at home, and it also gave the Weasleys enough confidence to use all the money they won to travel.
Of course, as agreed, they didn't mention that the company actually belonged to Lynn. The Weasleys genuinely believed that their talents had been recognized by this renowned magical investment company in the wizarding world.
Mrs. Weasley even secretly wiped away tears in the middle of the night, saying that it would be a relief if these two brats could support themselves in the future.
"I'm no longer a contracted professor at Hogwarts, so how would I know who Professor Dumbledore would choose for this position?" Lynn shrugged. "However, I do know some inside information."
As soon as he said that, Harry and his two friends, who were excitedly telling each other about their summer travel experiences, Ginny standing next to Harry blushing, and Percy standing to the side looking worried because he hadn't received an invitation to be the student council president this summer, all pricked up their ears to eavesdrop.
"Our Defense Against the Dark Arts professor this year should be a good person."
What defines a "good person"?
"At least he won't be like Professor Quirrell before, who couldn't teach you anything. Your Defense Against the Dark Arts class this year is going to be very interesting."
Immediately, everyone around him looked at him suspiciously, thinking that he must know something but was unwilling to say it.
But if Lynn is unwilling to talk, there's nothing they can do.
The group split up after entering Diagon Alley. Since Harry and his two friends were buying the same things, they naturally went shopping together.
The twins went to their go-to magical joke shop, Percy took Ginny to the ice cream shop to buy her ice cream, and Lynn took Umaru to have a robe made for her.
"I want ice cream too!" Umaru said enviously, looking at Ginny who was being led to the ice cream shop by Percy.
Lynn flatly refused: "Kira told me that you secretly ate all the ice cream in the refrigerator yesterday. That's your total amount for this year, so you can't eat any more from now until next year."
Umaru, looking aggrieved, was dragged by Lynn's arm to Madam Malkin's Robes shop to have her size measured and a school uniform made. Afterwards, Lynn took her to Ollivander's Wand Shop to buy her a wand.
At the wand shop, Ollivander recognized that the wand in Lynn's hand was not the one he had sold him before. Lynn explained that the wand had been damaged in battle, and Ollivander expressed his regret, saying that he would never be able to make a second one of that wand in his lifetime.
He also critically commented on the craftsmanship of the wand made by Gregovich that Lynn was currently using, saying that he would make it even better if he were given the same materials.
After all, rivals are enemies. Even if there are only three wandmakers in all of Europe, they will still dislike each other.
After buying the wand, Lynn took Umaru to Flourish and Blotts to buy textbooks. This year, Hagrid finally got his wish and became the professor of the Magical Creatures Protection class. He even came up with some tricks before the start of the semester, choosing "The Monster Book of Monsters," a book that can come to life, as his textbook.
The bookstore clerk's fingers suffered terribly as a result; several pairs of gloves were bitten to pieces.
After they bought everything, when they went to the robe shop to try on robes, Umaru looked up and asked.
"I wonder if Tom has bought all the things he needs for school."
Lynn tapped her on the head.
"You should mind your own business. Professor Dumbledore will take care of everything for her."
