Chapter 315, Section 312: Snape, the Lonely Man
Hogwarts is on holiday.
However, Lynn and Umaru did not board the Hogwarts Express back to London, but instead stayed in the castle for the time being.
The potion to shape Tom's body will take seven more days to be successfully brewed, so Lynn will have to stay here with Tom and wait.
Of course, he wasn't idle in the castle either.
Lynn spent his days wandering around with the scepter, exploring all the secret passages in the castle, and also trying to find the secret chambers built by the other three founders, which often appear in time-travel novels.
Unfortunately, it seems that none of the other three founders besides Slytherin had any idea for escape room games, and Lynn found no trace of these escape rooms.
He also studied all the statues in Hogwarts that could come to life.
Not only did the hunchbacked old witch riding a broomstick and the knight in armor wielding a lance and riding a warhorse fly out to help him during the battle with the basilisk that day, but there was also a sphinx statue that could come to life opposite the headmaster's office.
However, its activity range seems to be limited to the area around the principal's office, and it will not leave this area no matter how Lynn commands it.
There are also the flying pig statues on either side of the Hogwarts gate. Compared to the other statues, these two pigs seem like mascots. But Lynn had a feeling that they were the most historically significant of all the Hogwarts statues.
Besides these statues, there are also the murals scattered throughout Hogwarts, which have now become Lynn's eyes and ears, at his beck and call, giving Lynn the same treatment as Dumbledore.
After the holidays, Hogwarts became much quieter. Not only students, but also some married professors would return to their homes to reunite with their families during the summer vacation.
Of course, this excludes old bachelors like Snape.
"Hey! Professor, what's in that bottle? It looks really nice."
The process of brewing the potion was quite leisurely. Tom and Umaru were watching over things at the House of Requirement. Whenever Lynn had nothing to do, he would come over to his old headmaster's place for a stroll, enjoying both entertainment and freebies.
"Get your stinky hands off me! Those are fairy wings, costing 2 gallons and 6 sigs per ounce, and you can't just buy them whenever you want. If you dare break them, be prepared to pay me 10 gallons!"
Snape was writing down some kind of potion recipe on parchment while threatening Lynn in a menacing tone.
Lynn pursed her lips, afraid of upsetting the lonely old man, and didn't say aloud what she was muttering to herself.
Let alone 10 Galleons, he could buy one and throw it away even if it cost 100 Galleons.
"Why are you still at Hogwarts when all the students have left for the holidays?" Snape finished writing down the potion recipe in his hand, looked up and glared at Lynn.
Lynn shrugged: "Professor Dumbledore granted me the special privilege of staying at Hogwarts whenever I want, which means I can come to Hogwarts whenever I want and leave whenever I want."
"Then you can go and wander around Dumbledore's office. I'm about to leave Hogwarts now, so the office should be locked and no one should be there."
Snape picked up the formula and stood up, as if he were really going out.
Lynn's eyes lit up, and she followed behind him.
"Where are you going to teach? Can I come with you?"
"No, I have some personal business to attend to," Snape said coldly.
Lynn was already used to his aloof attitude and casually exposed him.
"Are you going to sell potion recipes to someone? It's fine, I'm just idling around in the castle anyway, why don't you take me with you, just so I can broaden my horizons."
"I'm not going to do any legitimate business. Those scum are capable of anything. If you come with me and something goes wrong and you end up as a corpse, I won't be able to explain it to Dumbledore," Snape said sarcastically.
Lynn blinked her innocent eyes at him.
"Are you sure if I become a corpse, you can come back?"
Snape was speechless for a moment after being asked this question, and just stared at Lynn.
He then realized that Lynn was no ordinary third-year student. If he died out there with Lynn, he might not be able to come back.
After a few seconds of silence, Snape glanced down at him.
"Go ahead and follow if you want, but when we get there, try to keep your mouth shut. We're not afraid of trouble, but we're not going to cause trouble."
Seeing that he had given in, Lynn immediately agreed with a grin.
"Don't worry, Professor, you know I'm the most honest student at Hogwarts."
"snort."
Snape snorted, too lazy to respond to Lynn's nonsense, and led him to the professors' common room.
The place was now deserted. Snape led Lynn to the long-extinguished fireplace and picked up the box of Floo Powder from the fireplace.
"Do I need to teach you how to use this?"
Snape glanced down at Lynn, seemingly eager for Lynn to say what he needed so that he could finally unleash the sarcastic remarks he had been holding back.
"Of course I can. Just tell me where we're going, Professor."
Disappointed, Snape turned his gaze back to the fireplace, took a pinch of Floo Powder from the box, and stood inside the fireplace.
"Flipped Alley"
He sprinkled Floo Powder at his feet, then clearly uttered the name of the place. The next moment, a green flame spread from under the fireplace, instantly engulfing his entire body and then completely swallowing him up, disappearing into the professor's common room.
After Snape left, Lynn did the same thing, standing in the fireplace with Floo Powder and scattering it on the floor while saying the name of Knockturn Alley.
A dizzying sensation swept over him, and he was surrounded by green flames swirling around him. Time seemed to have passed in an instant, yet it also felt like an eternity. Suddenly, Lynn's feet touched solid ground.
He appeared in a small fireplace, whose owner was clearly not a very hygienic person; even in the summer, a season when fireplaces are hardly used, the ashes in the fireplace had not been cleaned properly.
Lynn frowned, fanned the ashes floating in front of him, and stepped out of the fireplace.
"Snape, not only do you never patronize my business when you come here, but this time you've even brought a little one?"
"If you don't want to put the Floo net from Knockturn Alley in your shop, that's fine too. I'm sure many shops would be willing to take on this job."
"No way! I spent a fortune to get my fireplace connected to the UK's Filo network, and I'll make that money off people like you."
