Chapter 298, Section 295: The Crimson Feast

"Thunder Explosion (Double the Amplification)!"

The battle began with Lynn's use of the Explosive Spell.

He aimed his wand at the armor covering the basilisk, testing the strength of its iron-clad body.

The doubled effect of the Explosion Spell was quite powerful. A huge explosion rang out, and a dazzling flash of fire exploded on the lower half of the basilisk's body. The spell caused a great commotion, but the armor that seemed to be embedded in the basilisk's flesh only left a small charred mark.

"Do you know what native American wizards are best at? Potions!"

Long before European wizards discovered the Americas, the potion-making skills of the native wizards there far surpassed those of the European magical world, especially in potions related to magical creatures and magical plants. Their research in this field had reached its pinnacle, and the basilisk created by Slytherin could perfectly adapt to those most powerful potions!

These potions can make it grow larger, its scales evolve into armor, its poison become more potent, and its power become greater!

In this way, it can evolve into the true Jormungandr, the world-destroying giant serpent!

Fontana spoke with such rapt and fascination, as if introducing Lynn to the most beautiful treasure in the world.

The unpleasant hissing sound came from her mouth again. The giant python twisted its body like a soldier who had heard a command. Its triangular head, like a sharp sword, slammed down from above, using gravity and momentum, towards the direction where Lynn was!

The moment Lynn sensed the basilisk making a move, he quickly retreated, narrowly avoiding the "headbutt".

"Boom!"

A much louder explosion than Lynn's Explosive Curse rang out, and a huge hole was smashed in the ground where he had been standing.

The basilisk swung its forelimbs forcefully, pulling its head out of the ground. Instead of immediately taking any further action, it coldly searched Lynn's eyes with its yellowish-brown eyes.

Lynn certainly didn't make such a mistake; he closed his eyes the moment the basilisk pulled its head out of the ground.

"Tom! You're also a Slytherin descendant, and by blood you're far more legitimate than that old hag. Try and see if you can wrest control of the Basilisk!"

Tom had been floating beside Lynn the whole time, and upon hearing his words, he immediately began to try it.

"Hiss hiss hiss"

Tom's Parseltongue seemed to have some effect; the Basilisk did not launch a further attack, but instead began to communicate with him in Parseltongue as well.

But then Tom told Lynn some bad news.

"It won't obey my commands! It says it only has one master now!"

"I was initially thinking of giving it a chance to betray us, since it didn't kill Snape, but it's so ungrateful," Lynn muttered to himself, then suddenly shouted loudly towards the castle, "Fox!"

As if in response to his call, a golden light flashed past him, and a fiery red bird appeared in front of Lynn, carrying a tattered old hat in its beak.

It shrieked and threw its hat at Lynn's feet. Then, with eyes full of hatred, it glared at the now-transformed basilisk and charged at it, flapping its wings.

Fox had been ambushed and killed by this viper in the principal's office before, so now that they were meeting again, he was naturally extremely hostile!

Lynn bent down and picked up the Sorting Hat from the ground, reaching his hand inside as he asked.

"Now I should be eligible, right?"

A mouth split open in the middle of the hat, and it spoke merrily.

"No one is more qualified than you."

As soon as he finished speaking, a sturdy handguard appeared in Lynn's hand, which was inside the Sorting Hat!

He gripped the gauntlet tightly and pulled the Gryffindor sword, crafted by goblins and considered a supreme treasure by them, from the Sorting Hat!

The moonlight shone on the sword, making it gleam with a cold, sharp light.

Lynn held the sword in one hand and gently placed the Sorting Hat on a clean patch of grass with the other.

"Can it pierce the basilisk's armor?"

"If you have enough courage, it is the sharpest sword in the world!" the Sorting Hat said proudly.

Lynn tried swinging the sword in his hand to get used to its weight, and nodded.

"It is indeed a fine sword."

With that, he gripped his sword and charged back at the basilisk that was locked in combat with Fox.

"You stupid bird! Get out of here! Dumbledore didn't even take you with him!"

Fontana stood on the basilisk, where there seemed to be a buckle specially prepared for her, securing her to the top of the basilisk's head so that she wouldn't fall off, while also preventing her from accidentally making eye contact with the basilisk.

She was waving spells, aiming at Fawkes and shooting them out, trying to drive him away, but Fawkes stubbornly hovered above the basilisk's head.

Fontana's spells all failed, and the basilisk was also annoyed by Fox's cries. It aimed in the direction of the phoenix, opened its blood-red maw to reveal its venomous fangs, and charged suddenly.

Fox was waiting for this opportunity. Instead of dodging the basilisk's attack, it shrieked and swooped down as the basilisk lunged. Its long golden beak pierced the basilisk's head, and instantly, a stream of black blood splattered onto the ground like a rain shower!

A deafening roar erupted.

The basilisk writhed in agony as its steel tail lashed out at Hogwarts Castle behind it.

Despite the immense force of the impact, the castle only trembled twice, and otherwise suffered no further damage.

This castle is protected by ancient magic; it cannot be destroyed unless it is sabotaged from within.

Fox gouged out the basilisk's eyes.

The excruciating pain drove the giant snake completely mad. It writhed wildly, launching indiscriminate attacks on its surroundings.

After Foxy landed a successful blow, he spread his wings to try to escape the basilisk's attack range, but at that moment, a dark green spell suddenly struck him!

"Avada Kedavra!"

Fontana almost roared out the Killing Curse, seizing an opening in Fox's attack on the basilisk, and the attack succeeded.

Once struck by the Killing Curse, Fawkes plummeted from the sky like a kite with a broken string, his body ablaze with golden-red flames as he fell.

Lynn ignored Fawkes, who was under the Death Curse. Phoenixes cannot die; even the Killing Curse cannot prevent their rebirth.

He leaped aside to avoid the basilisk's wildly flailing tail, then raised Gryffindor's sword and plunged it heavily into the basilisk's thick armor!

Black blood spurted out, painting a crimson feast in mid-air!
