Chapter 279, Section 276: Hermione's Abnormality

Friday's Defense Against the Dark Arts class has ended.

After Lynn finished assigning the homework due next week and tidying up the materials on the podium, he was about to leave the classroom when three students stopped him.

Lynn stopped and looked at Hermione, Harry, and Ron, raising his eyebrows.

What do you want?

Neither Harry nor Ron spoke, only Hermione held a small note in her hand and spoke in a slightly trembling voice.

"Professor, could you please sign this borrowing slip for us?"

Lynn took the note from her hand and was somewhat surprised when she saw the book that needed to be borrowed.

He certainly knew what potions were recorded in the Potions Book, and in the original story, Hermione would also use the book through the real Lockhart to verify whether Malfoy was the culprit who opened the Chamber of Secrets.

Unexpectedly, the plot has become so chaotic that Hermione is now preparing to concoct a compound soup.

"It's a book from the forbidden section. How will this book help you with your Defense Against the Dark Arts studies?" Lynn asked Hermione, squinting his eyes.

He wasn't unwilling to sign the note, of course; he just wanted to see what excuse Hermione would use to deal with him.

"Didn't you teach us how to deal with ghouls in the last class? I think this book can help us understand how to deal with ghoul poison and how to prepare related potions."

Lin keenly caught the hint of nervousness in Hermione's tone, and he couldn't help but purse his lips inwardly.

What a lame excuse.

Ghouls are not particularly dangerous magical creatures, and their lethality is definitely not due to poison.

But the Lockhart of today is not like the Lockhart in the original story who would get carried away with a few compliments and sign their notes. It was quite an achievement for them to come up with such a plausible excuse.

Lynn raised the quill in his hand and pondered for a moment.

"Yes, this book might indeed be of some help to you." Under the expectant gazes of Harry, the other two, he signed his name on the note. "Give the note to Mrs. Pince, and she will help you get the book out of the restricted section."

Harry and Ron's faces lit up with surprise, while Hermione seemed even more excited. She took the note and stared intently at Lynn as if she wanted to scrutinize his face.

Lynn felt a little uneasy under his gaze, but pretended not to care and asked.

"What's wrong? Is there something on my face?"

Hermione shook her head, took a deep breath, and thanked Lynn, saying, "Thank you, Professor. We'll be going now."

Harry, his two friends, and Hermione left the classroom happily with the note in hand. Lynn watched their retreating figures, paying little attention to Hermione's unusual behavior.

He was pinching his chin, thinking about other things.

After Harry and the others left, Lynn took his things and went back to his office.

Tom usually stays at his desk in the office now, and Lynn has prepared some fairy tales from the magical world for him to keep him entertained.

"So, do the Three Deathly Hallows from the Three Brothers' story really exist?"

Lynn pulled a slip of paper from the drawer, quietly looked at the few words on it, and answered Tom's question at the same time.

"It is said that these three things exist, but their abilities may not be as wonderful as described in the story."

"Have you seen the Three Sacred Treasures?"

"I've seen two of them," Lynn said absentmindedly. "They just have fancy names, but they're really nothing special. Apart from the invisibility cloak, I even think the other two are curses."

As Tom and Lynn chatted, the topic veered off course, and he finally couldn't help but ask the question he had always wanted to ask.

"Will Fontana ask you to come to class again today?"

Lynn put the note back in the drawer and couldn't help but laugh as he listened to Tom's question.

"Why didn't you just ask directly from the beginning? Why beat around the bush?"

"I'm just afraid you'll misunderstand!" Tom said, displeased.

"You don't need to be afraid at all. I've actually misunderstood."

Just as they were talking, there was a knock on Lynn's office door.

Lynn tapped Tom: "The girl you've been longing for is here."

"I don't!"

"Okay, stop talking. You don't want her to find out that this ball of yours is actually alive, do you?"

Tom obediently shut up, and Lynn said, "Please come in."

The person who entered was indeed Basild Fontana, a first-year Ravenclaw student. Every week at this time, she would come to Lynn's office to ask him about spells related to defense against the dark magic.

The little girl was still pale and looked very delicate. After entering the room, she clutched her robe and stood next to Lynn.

"How's your Stun Spell practice going? Can you use it normally now?" Lynn asked, inquiring about the spell she had just learned last week.

But Behirde didn't answer his question immediately. Instead, she pursed her lips and looked at Lynn with a determined gaze.

"Professor, you can't be the murderer who opened the locked room, right?"

Lynn was taken aback by her question for a moment, then smiled and said...

"Of course not."

"All the young wizards in Ravenclaw believe you didn't do it! You treat all students equally, how could you possibly do such a thing! But those fools in Slytherin just won't believe it, and we even had a huge argument with them about it!"

Behirde seemed very excited, her chest heaving as she spoke loudly.

"They're just holding a grudge against you for giving them so much homework, so they're using this to make fun of you. But they don't realize how much this will affect your reputation."

Lynn smiled and patted her head.

"It's alright, Fontana, I won't mind it, but I still want to thank you for your trust in me."

Behirde's pale face flushed slightly, and she nodded repeatedly like a chick pecking at rice.

"It's alright, Professor. The students at Ravenclaw all consider you a responsible and good teacher."

Lynn's eyes narrowed into slits as she listened to her praise.

"Alright, since you've brought this up today, then we'll stop learning and practicing spells."

Behirde looked up at him with some confusion.

"The strength of a spell depends on many factors, such as magic power, the spell itself, and the wand. But I have always emphasized to you that the most important thing in casting a spell is the wizard's emotions when using magic. Magic can actually be described as the power of the wizard's mind. What you pursue, your magic will pursue the same thing."

Lynn looked at Behild and asked seriously.

"Miss Fontana, can you tell me now why you're trying so hard to learn powerful spells?"
