Chapter 193, Section 191: Don't Panic
Chapter 194, Section 191: Don't Panic
Lynn hasn't figured out who the twelve board members are besides the Malfoys, but he's certain that they're all pure-blood families.
As for the Ministry of Magic, Lynn wasn't in a hurry. As long as Dumbledore didn't die too early like in the original story, given Cornelius Fudge's performance in the plot, he was confident he could handle that guy perfectly well.
"You're much more mature than I thought. As for the specifics, you can handle them yourself after the next semester starts. I'll support you. Besides that, there are two other things I'd like your help with," Dumbledore said.
Upon hearing this, Lynn's face contorted with struggle, and with a reluctant expression, he took the box of cockroaches out of his pocket and put it back on the table.
"Professor, I don't want that thing anymore, so let's forget about helping out."
Dumbledore was taken aback at first, then burst into laughter.
"You don't need to be so nervous. I'm not asking you to do anything big. It's just that the magic world in the Soviet Union has recently split up, and many new magic governments have been established. The International Wizarding Federation needs me to take charge and mediate the relationship between these new governments and the Soviet Union's committee to prevent war. So I can't personally go to the things I originally planned to do. You're free at home during the summer vacation anyway, so consider this extra summer homework I'm giving you."
Despite saying that, Lynn remained very cautious.
"Tell me what it is first."
"I found a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor this semester. You may have heard of him, Gilderoy Lockhart, a very good wizard."
That's quite impressive. For a fraudster to rise to this level is quite remarkable.
Lynn seriously doubted that Dumbledore, with his cunning, could have seen through Lockhart's deception. It was highly likely that he genuinely couldn't find anyone else and deliberately hired this conman to trick him into becoming the Dark Arts professor, so that the young wizards of Hogwarts could see what fate awaited an incompetent liar.
"Of course I know him. He's a star wizard, a third-class rank in the Order of Merlin, an internationally renowned figure and author. So why would someone so accomplished condescend to be a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts?" Lynn asked, pursing his lips.
"Perhaps he wants to add another prefix to his name." Dumbledore blinked. "We've already agreed that he'll be the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor next semester, and the textbooks he asked you to buy have been added to this year's textbook list. But when I tried to contact him recently, I suddenly couldn't reach him. So I'd like to ask you to visit him at his house before August to see if anything has happened to him."
This is really not a big deal. In the original story, Lockhart came to Hogwarts as a professor without any problems. Even if Lynn has caught Tom, it won't affect him much. He'll probably just go to his house for a quick look and that's it.
Lynn then naturally put the pile of cockroaches into her pocket.
"I'll help you out because of this box of candy. What's the second thing?"
"The second one is about Harry."
"Harry Potter?" Lynn asked in surprise. "What happened to him?"
Dumbledore's expression didn't look too good as he spoke: "Before, for some reasons, I had to let him live with his aunt's family, which caused him a lot of suffering. Now that the threat is gone, there's no need for him to stay in that family. I asked the Weasleys for help, offering them child support to temporarily take in Harry, and they agreed. I originally wanted to go to Harry's aunt's house myself to pick him up, but I can't get away right now, so I'd like you to help me pick Harry up and take him to the Weasleys' house on the morning of the next three days."
Hearing Dumbledore say this, Lynn was initially surprised, but then felt that it made perfect sense.
Dumbledore wasn't blind; he paid so much attention to Harry Potter that he practically spied on him while he was taking a bath. Of course, he would know how difficult Harry's life was at his aunt's house.
The reason we hadn't inquired about it before was because the magic left by Harry's mother required blood ties to be effective, but now that such protection was no longer needed, it wouldn't be right to leave Harry in that place any longer.
It's not a big deal; it's just picking Harry up from a Muggle family and sending him away. It won't even take a morning.
"Okay, no problem, it's really nothing serious. However, Professor, there's something I'd like to ask for your permission to do," Lynn said, looking at Dumbledore.
"Could I go to Abrose to see Sister Rozier and the others? They sent me so many things last semester, and I don't know how to thank them, so I'd like to visit them and express my gratitude in person."
Dumbledore smiled and shrugged.
"Why not? You don't need my permission to visit them anytime."
Lynn felt a huge weight lifted off his shoulders. Even though Dumbledore seemed so agreeable now, Lynn might not have dared to go if Dumbledore hadn't agreed.
The two did not continue their conversation for long. After ending their conversation that evening, Fox drove Lynn home.
At Lynn's house, he tiptoed to open the door. It was past midnight, and he figured Umaru and Kira were probably already asleep. He didn't want to disturb them.
But as soon as he entered the door, the living room lights came on, and the house-elf Kira was standing in the living room. When he saw Lynn, he excitedly called out.
"Little master! You're back!"
Lynn gestured for him to speak softly and asked gently, "Is Xiaomai asleep?"
"She wasn't home; she went to Miss Granger's next door to spend the night."
Hearing Kira say that, Lynn breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed, sprawling on the sofa. Although he was stronger than an ox, he couldn't stand being on edge all day in the Soviet Union. Once he lay down on the sofa, he didn't want to move at all.
Just as Kira brought Lynn a blanket and he was about to drift off to sleep, a voice suddenly came from his pocket.
"Hey, have you forgotten about me? You're back now, aren't you going to take me out of your pocket and let me breathe?"
Lynn opened his still-sleepy eyes, took Tom out of his pocket, and said while yawning.
"If you hadn't reminded me, I would have forgotten that the Soul-Sealing Curse on you hasn't been reinforced yet today."
"."
Tom wanted to slap himself twice, but unfortunately he had neither hands nor mouth.
"Also, take those other three little balls out of your pocket right now, they're making me feel uneasy."
"Don't panic, they might just be eyeing you and want to parasitize you."
"Even in this situation, you're still telling me not to panic?!"
