Chapter 174, Section 171: I Have a Child (Bonus Chapter for the Author, Little Sparrow)
The Magic Committee of the Soviet Union.
In a conference room on the top floor, the seven members of the Magic Committee who held the main power, including the chairman, sat there with indifferent expressions.
"So, Ivanov, you caused such a commotion, almost exposing the wizarding world to Muggles, seriously violating the International Wizarding Secrecy Act, and even getting yourself involved, yet in the end, Shayk still managed to escape from Mexico?"
Ivanov's face was much paler than before. Even in the magical world, his right leg could no longer grow back. Now, a prosthetic leg had been fitted there. Although this prosthetic leg was an excellent alchemical creation and worked no differently from a normal leg, he was still crippled.
However, the disability caused by his broken leg was nothing compared to the consequences of his silent outburst.
Faced with the committee member's accusations, he did not offer any explanation, but simply spoke expressionlessly.
"Don't worry, everyone. Although I don't have much time left, I will kill Yelena in the rest of my life."
His eyes remained as cold as ice that never changed. If someone looked into his eyes at that moment, they would surely be able to see the hatred deep within them that could not be concealed.
"Then we'll wait and see."
Fortunately, cars of that era were sturdy enough that even after Yelena drove so roughly and crashed into a tree, they were still able to start.
Lynn got into the car and tried it out, and found that apart from the front bumper being half smashed, the car was still perfectly fine and could be driven without any problems.
"Do you know which way to go?" Lynn drove the car back onto the highway, and Yelena sat in the passenger seat, helping to look at the map.
"Follow this road, heading northwest, it's about 160 kilometers."
Lynn didn't dare drive too fast here. In this era, the country had hardly built any highways, only normal cement roads. He didn't have any official status here, so if he got caught by the police, it wouldn't be a big deal, but it would still be a lot of trouble.
Besides, he wasn't in a hurry. If Ivanov dared to come over, that would be fine. The only problem would be how to deal with Momo.
This thing is so rare that Lynn had no idea what its weaknesses were or how to deal with it, except for the description he had read.
However, people can always come up with a solution, so Lynn didn't dwell on it for long. He asked Yelena while driving.
"And who is your friend? Is he also an official of the Soviet Magic Committee?"
Yelena shook her head and said.
"No, he was a Squib. He used to live next door to me, and we grew up together."
"So you were childhood sweethearts."
"He has been married for a long time. Although his wife passed away early, his child is probably six years old now."
Lynn suddenly asked, "If I may be so bold as to ask, how old are you this year?"
Yelena didn't say anything about how a woman's age shouldn't be mentioned casually; she answered frankly, "Next month is my 29th birthday."
"Wizards usually get married early, right? Why are you still single?" he asked casually.
"Because I haven't met the right person, and it's not the time for me to take care of my own things yet." She said this with an unusually firm look in her eyes, but Lynn was focused on driving and didn't see it.
"And you?" She turned to look Lynn up and down. "You look like you're almost forty, right? Do you have a family?"
Hearing Yelena guessing his age, Lynn grinned and said as he laughed.
"I've got it, my child is almost ready to start school."
Yelena looked at him with suspicion, realizing that he was trying to fool her.
"Then what are you laughing at?"
"Nothing, I just thought of something funny." Seeing her disbelief, Lynn gripped the steering wheel with one hand and rummaged in his pocket with the other, quickly pulling out a magic photo.
"If you don't believe me, look, this is my daughter, and my family's house-elf."
Yelena took the photo from Lynn's hand with suspicion. There was indeed a child in the photo, and an old house-elf was standing next to him.
It was a little girl with white hair, her hands in her skirt pockets, looking at the camera with a silly, grinning expression. The house-elf standing next to her looked very old, and his expression was rather restrained when taking the picture.
Yelena's eyes widened.
"Your daughter's hair color is different from yours."
"Like her mother."
"What about your wife and you? Why aren't you in the photos?"
Lynn continued his charade, "My wife passed away early. As for why I wasn't in the photo, if I were, who took this picture?"
This photo was actually one of the photos Lynn took with Umaru and the others before coming to Sue. There are not only photos of Umaru and Kira together, but also photos of the three of them together, as well as photos of the four of them including Hermione. There are quite a few photos.
Since Yelena had seen Lynn's original appearance at Hogwarts, he didn't have that photo of the three of them to fool her.
Yelena studied the photo in her hand. No matter how she looked at it, Xiaomai felt that she and Lynn did not look alike at all. Even if the child looked more like the mother, she couldn't possibly look completely different from the father.
Yelena had a guess in her mind, and suddenly her gaze toward Lynn became pitiful.
"Hubert, you..."
Lynn gave her a strange look: "What's wrong?"
Yelena shook her head in the end. Sometimes, not discovering certain truths is not necessarily a bad thing.
"It's nothing, I just wanted to say your daughter is really cute."
"Of course."
Tver is only about 160 kilometers from Moscow, and even though Lynn deliberately didn't drive very fast, he was close to his destination before noon.
Yelena gave him directions, and instead of entering the city of Tver, they turned into the suburbs full of fields, finally arriving at their destination beside a grove of trees.
"This is it."
Yelena pointed to a charming little wooden house ahead, indicating that Lynn could park the car.
They got out of the car, and as if they had heard the noise, a strong-looking man from the Goose Country came out of the cabin.
"Yelena!" he exclaimed with delight upon recognizing her. "I've heard about what happened in Mosco. I'm so glad you're alright."
Yelena stepped forward, and the two embraced.
"I was lucky enough to escape from Mexico," she said, releasing the man and introducing Lynn to them.
"This is Ruslan Lazarev, my childhood friend. He once served in the Muggle world's Sultanate. This is Hubert Anderson, as you can see, he is an English wizard. I was able to escape from Mexico safely thanks to him."
I finally finished writing before midnight. I'll make up for the two chapters I owed for my monthly votes this day. Time for bed. Goodnight.
