Chapter 161 158. Arrest

Compared to the last time we met, she was noticeably thinner, her face was somewhat pale, and her long blonde hair was messy, as if she hadn't taken care of herself for a long time.

Yelena was holding a bag of bread, which looked fresh from the oven and was still steaming.

Lynn did not approach her rashly, but followed her at a distance.

She walked deeper into Klin Street, until she reached the very end, into a secluded alley where a group of children had gathered.

A group of homeless children.

They weren't dressed in rags, but they were all filthy, and they sat silently on the ground.

Yelena distributed the bread to them.

The children didn't fight over it; they politely accepted the bread and thanked her.

Judging from their behavior, these children do not seem to be orphans who have been wandering around for a long time.

A little girl timidly grabbed the corner of Yelena's robe.

"Aunt Shayk, when will Mom and Dad come to pick me up?"

Yelena squatted down with a gloomy expression and gently ruffled the little girl's hair.

"They will come to pick you up soon, you won't have to wait too long."

"I won't run around. I'll be a good girl and wait for them here."

"Yes, you are a good boy/girl."

Yelena smiled, wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, stood up, and took out several silver coins and copper coins from the pocket of her robe, handing them to the oldest child there.

"Take good care of these younger brothers and sisters. If there's really no other way, then go and get help from the committee."

The oldest boy, who looked to be eleven or twelve, refused the money that Shayk offered.

"You've already given us so much help, we can't accept any more money from you. As for the Magic Committee's aid..." His eyes suddenly turned vicious, he subconsciously clenched his fists, and said through gritted teeth, "We'd rather starve to death than accept that humiliating aid!"

"Don't risk your lives out of spite. Your parents have already been arrested. If something happens to you, what will happen to them when they get out?"

Yelena forcefully stuffed the money into the boy's pocket and earnestly warned him.

"As long as people are alive, there is still hope."

The boy touched the money in his pocket in silence. After a long while, he looked up at Yelena.

"Aunt Shaik, is there still hope for our country?"

Yelena stared blankly at the deserted and desolate Klin Street.

"Hopefully it will happen; it just depends on whether we can seize the opportunity."

Above them, a crow had somehow appeared on the roof and heard everything they were saying.

Lynn could roughly guess from their conversation that these children were the children of wizards whose parents had been arrested and whose property had been confiscated as a result of the incident.

They are now homeless and can only wander around, and the witch is helping them.

Soon, Yelena left the alley, but Lynn still didn't show up to contact her because he discovered that besides him, there was another group of people following the witch.

Their surveillance methods were highly professional. If Lynn hadn't turned into a crow and noticed their unusual behavior, no one would have realized that their attention was always focused on Yelena.

Not fully understanding the situation, Lynn did not make any rash moves. He remained in his Animagus form, quietly following behind the witch while keeping an eye on the movements of the followers.

With suspicion already raised, the unusual behavior of these trackers became obvious.

They walked down the street seemingly with their own purposes, but in reality, everyone's focus was always on Yelena.

It was only at this point that Lynn was horrified to discover that nearly half of the already sparse pedestrians on Klin Street were actually in disguise.

These people are not just passersby; they are all Aurors!

On this street, there were only six Aurors openly dressed in deep red robes, but there were nearly dozens more hidden in the shadows.

And all these people were targeting the witch Yelena Shayk.

A sense of unease welled up in Lynn's heart; he had a feeling that something big was about to happen.

As if the heavens were responding to his feelings, the Aurors on Klin Street, who were disguised as passersby, seemed to have received some kind of order. They stopped hiding their identities and openly formed a circle around Yelena.

At this moment, Yelena finally realized something was wrong. She stopped warily, looked at the Aurors who had surrounded her, drew her wand, and said in a deep voice.

"What do you want? I am the director of the Magic Academy Liaison Office of the Education Department of the Committee. You have no right to arrest me without an arrest warrant from the Committee."

The Aurors were all silent, no one spoke. Just then, a tall figure walked out from the group of Aurors directly in front of Yelena.

His face was stern, his leather boots made a solid sound as they stepped on the ground, he wore a dark green robe, and held a long, sword-like magic wand in his hand.

"Leonid Ivanov," Yelena called out his name, her eyes fixed on the sorcerer. "Are they under your command?"

The sorcerer named Ivanov had a mocking sneer on his face, but his movements were very subtle, as if his lips twitched slightly.

He took a piece of parchment out of his pocket and threw it at Yelena's feet.

"This is an arrest warrant issued by the committee, and this arrest is legal."

Yelena's face darkened as she looked at the arrest warrant on the ground, and she stared coldly at Ivanov.

"What disgusting things have you two done that you're going to abandon me now?"

"For the sake of the committee, we are all people who can be abandoned at any time, Shayk. I thought you were prepared for that," Ivanov said coldly.

Yelena seemed extremely angry.

"The committee was established to protect its people, not to abandon them! You did something similar twelve years ago! In Switzerland, you killed Anna Lungard and her husband! Now you're pointing your wand at your own people!"

Upon hearing the name Anna Lungard, Lynn, who was quietly watching the show from the rooftop, suddenly had his pupils constrict.

Anna Lundgard, whom Kira had mentioned to him before he came.

The owner of this name is the biological mother of this body!
