Chapter 136, Section 135: I Have a Proposal
Chapter 137, Section 135: I Have a Proposal
Lynn hurriedly ran back to her dorm room with the Daily Prophet in her hand.
He rummaged through drawers and finally found the newspapers from the previous two weeks. He searched through them one by one until Lynn finally found what he was looking for.
This is a newspaper from last Sunday. The front page features gossip about Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge, but Lynn's interest isn't in that. Instead, it's in a small section on the side of the front page that she's interested in a wanted poster.
A group of dark wizards, composed of French sorcerers, has fled into Britain. Their leader is a former Gringotts employee named Lagno, who is also a goblin. He leads a group of three wizards, two men and one woman.
They once stole from a vault in Gringotts, France, and killed the vault's owner with black magic. Lagno stole the wizard's wand, and the four of them then wandered around Europe.
Meanwhile, there was also a picture in the newspaper of the fairy named Lagno. He looked no different from the other fairies, except that his eyes looked very gloomy.
After seeing this photo, Lynn was 80% certain that the hunchbacked old man who made the deal with Quirrell and his gang were this group of dark wizards led by fairies.
If they were caught for their crimes, they would almost certainly be imprisoned for life, and the demon might even face the death penalty.
Wizards are not subject to the death penalty, but fairies are not considered wizards.
Moreover, his offense was far too serious. Stealing from Gringotts was secondary; the key issue was that he actually snatched a wand from a wizard, which would undoubtedly greatly offend the sensitive nerves of those in the Ministry of Magic.
Therefore, the Ministry of Magic offered a large reward of Galleons to capture them.
If they capture them all, the French Ministry of Magic will contribute 10,000 Galleons, and the British Ministry of Magic will contribute 5,000, for a total of 15,000 Galleons.
The combined bounty for capturing that fairy from both countries' Ministries of Magic is over ten thousand Galleons; the other three wizards are merely incidental.
Looking at the bounty, Lynn smiled; he suddenly had a brilliant plan.
Snape's office and Slytherin's common room were on the same floor, both in the Hogwarts basement. Lynn, holding the newspaper with the bounty poster, had come to his office for the second time today.
Snape was alone in his office dealing with slugs with tentacles. They were disgusting, but after being steamed, they could be used to make a potion to cure scabies.
"What do you take my office for? Your backyard? You come here to stroll around when you have nothing to do in the morning, and you come here to wander around before you go to bed at night?" Snape mocked.
Lynn was already used to being scolded by him, so he sat down next to him with a grin and helped him out.
"Oh dear, how can you trouble yourself with such dirty talk as handling materials? Just have someone call me over. I'm always free and can come help anytime."
Snape snorted coldly.
"Don't pretend with me. You haven't been in the castle all day. I'm already letting you off the hook for breaking school rules, but you still have the nerve to come here."
At this point, Lynn put away his playful smile and said in a serious tone.
"Professor, I secretly went to Hogsmeade today."
Snape glared at him coldly: "And now you come all this way to show off to me?"
"No, Professor, I found a group of suspicious people in Hogsmeade today."
Snape didn't seem interested in the suspicious person he mentioned. He estimated the time and felt that the slugs in the cauldron were almost cooked, so he picked up the cauldron. Lynn immediately helped him by bringing over a large glass bottle.
"There are plenty of suspicious people in the wizarding world. Is it strange that Hogsmeade has a few? If you really have nothing better to do, come find me. I have a lot of work to do."
Lynn waited until Snape had finished preparing the liquid before handing him the newspaper.
"Professor, I found them today at the Hogsmeade pub."
Snape glanced at a newspaper and sneered.
"You've discovered the Minister of Magic's lover?"
Lynn rolled her eyes and pointed to the wanted poster section.
"It's them, Professor. I found this gang of dark wizards at the Hog's Head."
Snape's expression finally turned serious. He took the newspaper from Lynn, carefully read through the bounty, and then turned to look at Lynn.
"Belok, you should know what the consequences are for lying to me."
Lynn said earnestly.
"I assure you that everything I'm saying is true."
He briefly recounted to Snape his discovery of the hunchbacked old man and his group's unusual behavior, omitting, of course, the part about him transforming into a raven.
Apart from the part he concealed, everything Lynn said was true, and all the clues were traceable and could withstand scrutiny.
Snape paced back and forth in the office a few times with his hands behind his back, then lifted Lynn off his chair.
"This matter needs to be reported to Dumbledore. You're coming with me."
Lynn was not surprised by this. He originally planned to report the matter directly to the old bee, but if he went to the headmaster instead of his own headmaster, Snape might get a little angry if he found out.
Five minutes later, in Dumbledore's headmaster's office.
Lynn then went on and on to Dumbledore, recounting all of his discoveries from that day.
After listening attentively, Dumbledore glanced at the newspaper Lynn had brought.
"This is indeed a group of vicious thugs. You were right not to act rashly but to report to us first."
"So what should we do next?" Snape asked.
Dumbledore pondered.
"I'll notify the Ministry of Magic immediately; they'll send an Auror to handle this."
"professor."
Lynn suddenly interjected in a low voice.
Dumbledore and Snape both looked at him.
"I actually have a suggestion. Not all professors at Hogwarts are flush with cash. Since their bounties are so high, and we've already tracked them down, why don't we ask the professors if anyone needs the money, then we can round them up, collect the bounty, and distribute it among the professors?"
