The mastermind behind Hogwarts
Chapter 722 The Thief of Light? The Soul Returns!
"Hmm..." Hikaru pondered for a moment before replying to Moriarty, "Your wisdom is obvious, but I can tell you something else."
"When the third whistle blows, it will take us to the Hall of Death—perhaps only I call it that, and that's where the Minister and I are headed."
"Is that right, Mr. Minister?"
Gamp got up from the ground, panting heavily.
"Ah? Right, right~" Gamp held up one finger, "except I call that place the Palace of Death, because there's a Grim Reaper there, right?"
Faced with Moriarty's fist, Gampo honestly chose to confess.
But the final question displeased Moriarty.
"You're asking me?" Moriarty raised his fist. "Whether Death exists or not is none of my business, but for you right now, a fist the size of a sandbag is more terrifying than Death!"
Gamp quickly explained, "I don't know, okay? I really don't know."
"Perhaps I'm the only one who calls it Death. In novels and movies, in hell or the land of death, there's always a Death."
Hikaru also chimed in, "That's right, perhaps it's just wishful thinking on our part. We hope Mr. Moriarty can find out its real name."
Moriarty clicked his tongue. "I thought the three of us had reached the limit of this world, but I never imagined there were still mysterious and unknown existences!"
"This is the meaning of our pursuit of godhood!" Guang emphasized. "Perhaps after we become gods, those mysterious and unknown existences will no longer be mysterious."
A smile appeared on Gamp's face, and he seized the opportunity to say, "Mr. Moriarty, why don't you join us? If the three of us team up, I don't know who can stop us!"
Gamp's response was:
"Bang!"
Moriarty punched Gamp in the face, the force of which caused Gamp to fall to the ground and pass out.
"Sweet talk, haven't you heard that villains die from talking too much!" Moriarty kicked Gamp's body with his toe.
Hikaru said helplessly, "Why bother, Minister?"
"Don't try to act innocent," Moriarty stared at the light, his gray eyes filled with coldness. "You go first."
"Oh, right, take him with you."
The little ball silently stretched out its two arms, which grew longer like a robot, and pulled up Gamp from the ground, flying to the black whistle.
Just then, the whistle blew.
"Beep beep!!!"
The third whistle.
An irresistible dizziness arose, Moriarty's consciousness gradually faded, and the last thing he saw before his eyelids closed was light and Gamp, and then they all collapsed.
I don't know how much time has passed.
Moriarty regained consciousness, opened his eyes, and looked around.
It was pitch black, with occasional flashes of purple light illuminating the surroundings, about once every ten seconds.
Thirty seconds later, Moriarty realized that he was in a palace.
Judging from the massive pillars supporting the palace, the palace must have been made of stone.
Moriarty walked forward, but tripped.
It turns out to be Gampo.
Moriarty kicked him, yelling, "If you're not dead, come after me!"
Gamp slowly got up from the ground, and the little ball that had transformed into light also woke up and took to the air again.
"Every time I come here, I want to smash this palace to pieces!" Gamp said to the light through gritted teeth.
Before the light could respond, a magnificent yet hollow voice resounded, enveloping the entire palace.
"You said the same thing last time, dear Yurik Gamp."
The sound was deafening; it was impossible to tell whether it was a male or female voice.
Moriarty looked at Gamp and Hikaru: "This is the Grim Reaper you've been talking about?"
Gamp nodded.
"Oh?"
The voice spoke again, as if it had just noticed Moriarty.
"Welcome, newcomer, dear Moriarty Slytherin."
Moriarty looked up and around. The sounds came from all directions, but there was no sign of anyone.
The voice spoke again: "Oh? It's you?"
"You dare come back, you thief!"
Thief?
Moriarty blinked. There were only three people here. Moriarty and Gamp had already been mentioned, and the thief could only refer to Light.
In an instant, Moriarty sensed something amiss.
"Another untold dirty history, huh?" Moriarty looked at the light.
Then, pointing at the light, he asked the voice, "Does he always look like this when he comes here?"
"Yes, you are very smart."
"Then, please tell me his true identity."
"I'm sorry, I can't tell you his real identity," the voice said, its tone still flat, but its words were amusing: "Because that would take away a lot of fun."
"Did you hear that, Moriarty?" Light suddenly said, "In their eyes, we are no different from circus clowns, tools for their amusement."
"Shut up!" Moriarty swung his fist and smashed the light down. "Who do you think you are to speak here?"
"Ding-dong~"
The small ball fell to the ground with a crisp sound and a loud echo.
It's that familiar feeling again.
Moriarty decided to continue fiddling with the small ball, hoping to find some clues.
But the light didn't give them that chance. It quickly took flight and said, "Now that we have arrived, please fulfill our wish."
The voice said, "As you wish."
"From this moment on, your souls are perfect."
This was exactly what he had been waiting for, and he finally smiled: "Goodbye, Mr. Moriarty."
The purple glow instantly emitted a dazzling light, taking away the light and the gin.
Moriarty realized what was happening and questioned:
"What are those two people's wishes?"
"How many times have they been here?"
To Moriarty's surprise, the voice was incredibly obedient.
"I will perfect the souls of the living who arrive here."
"That's exactly why they came."
"Yurik Gamp came once, for his heart, and that man... came twice."
Upon hearing this, Moriarty's expression changed slightly.
"So that's how it is."
"Light and Gamp ultimately turned against themselves in the multiverse."
"How much of a boost would a perfect soul bring to them?" The last sentence was Moriarty's question.
The voice truthfully stated, "It will change their essence, making them more like gods."
"Then who are you?" Moriarty asked. "God?"
"No, I am not. There is also a version of myself in the Eastern Underworld."
"I understand, you are the will of the multiverse."
Moriarty waved his hand, losing all desire to continue the conversation. "Take me back."
"I'm going to catch the thief."
"As you wish."
The purple glow flickered and carried Moriarty away.
When Moriarty opened his eyes again, he was back before the veil of death.
"Are you alright, darling?"
Lilith's concerned voice sounded from behind.
Moriarty slowly turned around and saw Lilith and a group of friends staring at him intently.
He smiled and said, "The feeling of the soul returning to the body is wonderful."
Lilith hugged Moriarty, and the others cheered as if they had won a battle. Moriarty patted Lilith on the back and asked:
"How long have I been gone?"
“Just one minute,” Jericho replied. “It took us a minute to deal with those Silencers, and then we saw you standing here all alone.”
"One minute?" Moriarty's expression turned serious, and he strode forward. "Quick, after them! Light and Gamp can't have gotten very far!"
(Thanks for your support, brothers!)
