Chapter 49 Chinese Dishes and the Vanishing Cabinet
Chapter 49 Chinese Dishes and the Vanishing Cabinet (Please continue reading!)
"Blind box lottery? Rewards based on luck...maybe I should drink some Felix Felicis before trying?" Moriarty scoffed. "System, are there any missions or lotteries with no risk and all real rewards?"
"Yes, host, you can start the sign-in task by paying 10000 points."
"Tsk, 10,000 points! Fine."
Although Moriarty currently only has 100 points, with a clear goal in mind, he believes he will earn enough points.
Now Moriarty could sleep peacefully, and when he woke up, it was just beginning to get light.
Moriarty had just opened his eyes when he heard the system notification: "Today's random mission: Please go to the Hogwarts kitchen and teach the house-elves any Chinese dish. Reward: 100 points."
Although the system notification tone was still cold and impersonal, Moriarty felt that the voice was especially warm and friendly today.
100 points is a bit low, but the task is not difficult and there is no penalty. It's a process of accumulating points little by little. Besides, making a Chinese dish can also change things up.
So Moriarty didn't go to the Room of Requirement today, but instead went to the entrance of the Gryffindor common room, where the route to the Hogwarts kitchens begins.
The lion cubs generally don't have the habit of waking up early; they usually prefer to roam at night. They are currently sleeping soundly, and the corridor is quiet.
Moriarty stood in front of the portrait of the fat lady, walked back down the corridor, down six floors, and up the marble staircase into the foyer.
Then turn left and walk into a wide stone corridor, where you will find a painting of a silver bowl filled with fruit.
Moriarty scratched at the large green pear in the silver bowl, and the pear wriggled and chuckled, turning into a huge green handle!
Moriarty grabbed it, pulled the door open, and entered a large room with a high ceiling.
The room was the same size as the auditorium above, with many gleaming copper pots and basins piled up along the stone walls, and a large brick fireplace at the other end of the room.
At least a hundred house-elves stood in the kitchen, all with beaming smiles, bowing and curtsying: "Honorable and great descendant of Slytherin, your name has spread throughout the castle. House-elves have served Hogwarts for generations, and we will grant you any request."
"Get up quickly! I'll teach you a Chinese breakfast recipe. I'll tell you how to make it: pan-fried shrimp wontons, mung bean, lily bulb, and lotus seed soup, and... a two-tone egg roll! Okay, everyone look over here. Learn it quickly, I want to eat breakfast!"
These house-elves clearly have an extraordinary talent for cooking; they learn quickly, and Moriarty doesn't even need to demonstrate a second time.
Moriarty, having successfully earned 100 points, praised the little elves generously, and they burst into tears.
Moriarty, not wanting to comfort them, said, "Stop crying! I'll teach you a few more dishes: Peking duck, ants climbing a tree (a Sichuan dish), sesame chestnut chicken... I hope to smell the aroma of Peking duck on the table Friday night!"
Time flew by as the elves cooked, and soon it was breakfast time, and the auditorium gradually filled with people.
Moriarty pulled Tonks to the Slytherin table. "Nymph, to repay you for the nutritious breakfasts you've prepared for our team, I'm treating you to a uniquely flavorful Chinese breakfast this morning."
Tonks, who was annoyed by Moriarty's unexplained absence from the Room of Requirement, sat down next to him and looked at him expectantly when he heard him say this.
"Pan-fried shrimp paste wontons!" Moriarty clearly stated the name of the dish, and instantly wontons and other delicacies appeared on the table.
Dumbledore, sitting on the professor's bench, understood what was happening. "Very high-level! Even I, the headmaster, have never received such treatment."
He praised Moriarty, nodding at him, whether because Moriarty could command house-elves or because of the deliciousness of the Chinese breakfast.
Moriarty stood up and announced loudly, "At seven o'clock on Friday evening, I invite every gentleman and lady to the auditorium. The house-elves have prepared a Chinese dinner of the highest standard for everyone."
The students began to whisper among themselves with curiosity. Dumbledore smiled and said, "That's wonderful! Now that I can enjoy the same treatment as Mr. Moriarty, I think I won't have to deduct the house-elves' wages."
So this is what kind of principal you are!
Moriarty gave him a strange look, and Professor McGonagall, Professor Strange, and several other professors familiar with Dumbledore also glanced at the old man without making a sound. However, given that the old man would occasionally act crazy, everyone was used to it.
Tonks, mimicking Moriarty, said, "Mung bean, lily bulb, and lotus seed soup!"
A bowl of porridge appeared instantly, its delicate aroma filling the air, and Tonks gulped it down.
Leon and the other conservative purebloods couldn't stand Tonks's eating habits, but when they saw William almost bury his head in his bowl, they shook their heads helplessly.
To avoid awkwardness, Leon started the conversation: "Mr. Moriarty, you said you'd treat everyone to Chinese dinner Friday night, is it because we'll beat the Hufflepuff team on Friday morning and win the Quidditch Trophy?"
"It's obvious." Moriarty swallowed a small wonton and looked at the Gryffindor table. "Unless Charlie can beat third-ranked Ravenclaw with a score of over three hundred, we'll be champions after Friday."
"Yay!"
"Nice!"
The players high-fived each other. Because the Slytherin team had shut out their opponents every time, they were more than 300 points behind the second-ranked Gryffindor!
Can Gryffindor build a lead of over 300 points over Ravenclaw? No! Therefore, Slytherin is destined to win the fourth Quidditch Trophy!
"You're talking as if I don't exist!" Tonks said coldly.
The snakes smiled awkwardly but politely; Hufflepuff's Seeker was still at their table.
After a pleasant breakfast, Moriarty and Tonks parted ways. The little snakes had a potions class in the morning, where they learned how to concoct forgetfulness potions.
It's worth mentioning that, whether it's the potion for treating boils or the potion for forgetting, Lilith, who aspires to surpass Moriarty, is still outdone by him, while Percy continues to be his perennial third-place finisher.
At noon, since he had no classes in the afternoon or evening, Moriarty collected several flying beetles and went to the House of Requirement.
"I need a room where I can store miscellaneous items."
Moriarty thought to himself, the Room of Requirement, which was originally used to practice spells, had become a storage room, with broken and tattered items scattered all over the floor and dust everywhere.
Moriarty came here to find the broken Vanishing Cabinet. The other Vanishing Cabinet is in Borginburgh. Through the two Vanishing Cabinets, he can go to Knockturn Alley to hunt down the Dark Wizard.
"The Vanishing Cabinet is here!" Moriarty drew his cedarwood wand, having hidden his Slytherin staff to conceal his identity.
A black cabinet with ornate openwork carvings flew out from a pile of old books with a "bang"!
It was about two meters long and one meter wide. Moriarty didn't want the Vanishing Cabinet to fall on him, so he quickly used a levitation spell to make it land on the ground.
"Restored to its original state! Restored to its original state! Restored to its original state!"
Moriarty remembered that Draco Malfoy took half a semester to repair the Vanishing Cabinet when he was in sixth grade, but he obviously didn't need that long. He used twenty years of magic to release three repair spells and repaired the Vanishing Cabinet in a moment.
Just to be on the safe side, Moriarty opened the cabinet door, put the collected beetles inside, closed the cabinet door, waited a minute, and then opened the cabinet door again.
Two beetles are missing, but both are alive. Meanwhile, two small horned insects have appeared in Boginbock's shop; hopefully, they won't mess with the dark magic items there.
Moriarty knew the Vanishing Cabinet was repaired. He took out the transformation potion he had made during the Christmas holidays from his system space, took a sip, and countless faces flashed through his mind, all of whom were people he had seen before.
Moriarty chose a seemingly ordinary person, an average person he saw at the station, a stranger to the dark wizard in Knockturn Alley, who would not arouse any suspicion.
A moment later, Moriarty transformed into a middle-aged man with a slightly haggard face. He took out a black cloak from his bag, put it on, put on the hood, walked into the Vanishing Cabinet, and closed the cabinet door from the inside.
