The mastermind behind Hogwarts

Chapter 45 Mission: "The Zhang Family with the Snake"

Chapter 45 Mission: "Bring the Snake Home" (September Success Story)

On his first night back at school, Moriarty lay in bed.

"Ding~ Mission issued: Bring the snake home. The host is required to open the secret room and bring the basilisk back to Slytherin Castle before June 1st!"

Reward: 5000 points. Failure to complete the mission will result in the host transforming into a basilisk!

Moriarty sat bolt upright, wide awake. Why did the system have to issue the mission at this crucial moment of the day? Hogwarts exams would begin on June 1st, meaning he only had five months to prepare!

Aside from the ultimate mission, this is the most challenging mission Moriarty has ever encountered, so the rewards are naturally more generous.

"Bring the snake home..." Moriarty closed his eyes, pondering how to bring a twenty-foot-long basilisk back to the castle!

"A spatial magic circle!" Moriarty recalled the way he and Lockhart entered Slytherin Castle. Without a doubt, of all the magic he knew, only a spatial magic circle could achieve long-distance teleportation.

"If it's about setting up a spatial magic circle, I can't do it alone," Moriarty said, getting out of bed and sitting down at the table. He began writing a letter: "I need help, I need materials..."

The sound of writing came from the dormitory. Moriarty had finished writing five letters and handed one of them, addressed to the fairy Ingo, to Poseidon.

"Make sure they are returned to the castle before tonight," Moriarty instructed, as only his own Snow Owl could return to the castle.

Looking at the remaining four letters, Moriarty shook his head. The only option was to send them out through the school's owls.

As dawn broke the next day, Moriarty got up and went to the West Tower, where the school's Owl Hut was located on the top floor.

On the spiral staircase leading to the top of the tower, Moriarty encounters an unexpected person: Randy Cullen, the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.

The two passed each other without saying a word. Due to the narrowness of the staircase, Moriarty was quite certain that he smelled blood.

I wish I could see the letters Professor Randy sent out.

As Moriarty pondered this, he mailed his letter.

Four owls were chirping and hooting, seemingly wondering why one student in school would send a letter to another student in school.

Leaving the West Tower, Moriarty headed to the Room of Requirement. His Christmas gift to Tonks was a quick-release magic wand that could automatically spring into the wizard's hand, suitable for Auror combat.

After battling Tonks for an hour in the Room of Requirement, Moriarty went to the Great Hall for breakfast.

A large flock of owls flew in, and Jericho, Marcus, and Tonks all received a letter at the same time. After glancing at the letter, their expressions changed slightly, and they hurriedly left, abandoning the food on the table.

Poseidon sent Moriarty two packages, containing precious materials and Salazar's research records on spatial magic arrays, sent by Ingo at Moriarty's request.

Moriarty put the package into his system space, finished his breakfast at a leisurely pace, and then got up and left. He walked through a dimly lit corridor with words flashing on the walls and arrived at the girls' restroom on the second floor.

Three people were already waiting for him. As soon as Tonks saw Moriarty, he asked with concern, "What's wrong that you couldn't tell me in the Room of Requirement? Why did you have to come to this godforsaken place!"

"Nymph," Moriarty patted Tonks's hand and smiled, "I have my reasons."

Tonks looked around and sighed. "I really don't know why you chose this place. Okay, I admit it's quiet and secluded, but we girls never come to this restroom. There's a crying ghost here."

"Ghosts don't scare me, and the restrooms don't bother me, but why are they girls' rooms?" Jericho stepped forward, shrugging. "If I hadn't seen that the letter was signed Mr. Moriarty, I would have thought some pervert had hired me to spy on them!"

Marcus remained silent, standing at the bathroom door like a guard, with a premonition that his test was about to begin.

Moriarty led them into the washroom, where he searched through the sinks until he saw a small snake engraved on the side of a bronze dragon head. He then stretched out his right arm and slammed his Slytherin staff against the faucet with a "clang".

The dragon head emitted a dazzling white light and began to spin rapidly.

Then, the pool began to move. Moriarty watched as the pool slowly disappeared from sight, revealing a very thick water pipe, large enough for a person to crawl into.

Moriarty heard Marcus and the other two gasp. He looked at them and said, "Now you know why I chose this restroom as the meeting place. It's the entrance to the secret room."

Marcus and his two companions slowly moved closer to the opening at the edge of the water pipe, peering inside cautiously.

"It's pitch black, I can't see anything," Tonks said, covering his mouth and nose. "But seriously, the smell is awful."

"Shall we go in?" Jericho blinked, a broad smile on his face. "Let's go on an adventure, to find the treasure left behind by Salazar Slytherin!"

"If I had seen the treasure in Slytherin Castle, I wouldn't have said that. Salazar would never have left the treasure at Hogwarts," Marcus said, making a rare wise remark.

However, Tonks said, "Ravenclaw said that extraordinary wisdom is the greatest wealth of mankind. Perhaps the treasure Salazar left behind refers to this kind of thing? Knowledge, magic or something, or some strange secret?"

"Stop guessing," Moriarty waved his hand, his face serious. "There's a basilisk in the secret chamber!"

Before Marcus and his two companions could even speak, a stream of water suddenly burst from a toilet, and a ghost flew out of the water.

"Oh my god, this is horrible, horrible! What did I just hear? Who would have thought that a little dark wizard leader was leading two, no, three—"

The ghost flew between Marcus and his two companions, staring intently at Tonks through its black-rimmed glasses: "And there's a little girl with white hair! The little black wizard leader is going to lead you to release the basilisk! Or feed you all to the basilisk! Oh, myrtle heard that! Myrtle is going to tell everyone! That way people will like me!"

"The Weeping Myrtle, the Ravenclaw girl who was killed by the Basilisk fifty years ago," Moriarty introduced to Tonks and the others.

Then he raised his head: "Myrtle, I expect you to abide by your agreement and not interfere with my actions, or I will drive you all out of this castle!"

"Oh—" Myrtle gasped, her voice hoarse. "You know about Peeves' agreement? You can still kick us out? No, you can't do that! Oh my god, Myrtle's going to be kicked out! I knew no one liked a crying Myrtle, boohoo..."

Jericho and Tonks stared wide-eyed innocently. "Shut up!" Moriarty tapped the four of them with his staff, and the world instantly became quiet.

Tonks looked at Moriarty: "Aren't you worried she'll tell everyone about us?"

"She won't tell, and I won't do what she said I would do." Moriarty glanced at Myrtle, who was flying around above them. The ghosts and Peeves had reached a deal, and Moriarty guessed that the deal was related to him. He figured the ghosts wouldn't bother him.

"Marcus, come down with me." Moriarty's voice rose several octaves. Marcus shuddered, his face twitching, but he still raised his head and answered loudly, "No problem, sir!"

"What about me?" Tonks asked worriedly.

"You and Jericho stay here," Moriarty said, taking two packages from his system space and placing them on the ground. "These are for you. Open them and take a look. From now on, you have three months to study this magic circle with me. I need to set up this magic circle in the secret room before June."

Tonks opened the package, took out the thick book inside, and frowned as soon as he opened the first page.

Jericho, on the other hand, prioritized bringing out the most valuable materials. "This is... Mysterious Vine, Luminous Marrow, Blood Demon Hide, whose tooth is this? A scarab beetle fossil? And what's this? It looks like a mummy's butt!"

Moriarty nodded in satisfaction. Choosing Tonks and Jericho to study spatial magic arrays with him was a well-thought-out decision. The former was obedient and intelligent enough, while the latter had inexhaustible energy.

Lilith was originally the most suitable person to set up the magic circle, but Moriarty gave up the idea of inviting her after discovering that she also had her own plans.

As for Marcus...

Moriarty looked at Marcus, who was taking deep breaths, and gestured with his eyes for him to jump.

"This is the test you've given me, is it? To deal with... the basilisk..." Marcus nodded fiercely, as if it gave him courage. "Yes, sir, I will do it, I can do it!"

With a loud shout, Marcus jumped into the pipe opening!

September has begun, and I aspire to be a successful person this September. Could you please give me some support? (◎`ω)人(ω`*)
