Chapter 400 Fairies and Gringotts

"Dragon tamers?"

Moriarty and Dumbledore said in unison, exchanging a glance, "Dragon Tamer," which is easy to understand literally.

驯: to tame, to domesticate.

In the magical world, "dragon" refers to Western dragons and fire dragons. Whether Moriarty, the dragon from Eastern mythology, exists in the magical world is unknown, but he has never seen one.

A dragon tamer is someone who tames or raises dragons.

But what kind of person can be called a dragon tamer?

Moriarty's two major pure-blood families—the Frie and the Flint families—own large dragon farms.

Furthermore, they merged and opened a huge dragon farm in Romania, which has no shortage of dragon tamers and fire dragons.

In the story, after graduating, Charlie Weasley works at a dragon farm in Romania, where he has to deal with dragons a lot, including feeding, raising, and taking care of them.

They are also familiar with the habits, characteristics, and physiological structure of fire dragons.

Can someone like that really be called a dragon tamer?

Judging from Polly's tone, it doesn't seem that simple.

Polly saw through Moriarty's thoughts and nodded gently: "In a corner of the future, the dragon tamers trained a large army of magical beasts."

"The monster army ravaged the land and roared in the sky, but strangely, they rarely harmed people, as if they were searching for something."

"You said you're searching? That doesn't seem logical?"

Dumbledore adjusted his glasses, his words tinged with bewilderment: "The army of monsters reminds me of the myths between demons and angels; if placed on Earth, it would be enough to deliver a devastating blow to anyone."

If such a massive army of monsters truly exists, I find it hard to imagine what kind of creature could make it choose to search for them instead of killing them.

"Agreed." Moriarty nodded in agreement with Dumbledore's point of view.

"Yes, I thought so at first too," Polly said calmly. "Other centaurs also found it strange. Oh, by the way, the largest centaur tribe is in the rainforest of Brazil."

"I didn't tell you this before, but now that we're comrades in the same trench, I'll tell you my background. You can check it out as you please."

Polly knew that Moriarty and Dumbledore were both high-ranking wizards, so it wouldn't be difficult for them to find out her background. It was much better for her to tell them herself than for someone else to find out.

Her approach reassured Moriarty and Dumbledore.

Polly continued, "Under conditions that all the centaurs disagreed with, the old chief performed divination, paying the price of time and her lifespan, and finally obtained a result."

Polly rubbed her temples, a rare occurrence for her, and closed her eyes as if she saw the deceased old chieftain, a wave of sadness washing over her.

Moriarty and Dumbledore exchanged another glance. Centaurs were skilled in divination and astronomy, and it was clear that the old centaur chieftain must have paid a heavy price.

This only fueled the anticipation, but also brought a great sense of dread. What outcome could possibly cost the old chief his time and lifespan?

Polly opened her eyes, her beautiful black pupils devoid of emotion. She slowly uttered, "Fairy!"

"A fairy?"

"A fairy?"

Moriarty and Dumbledore both said at the same time that it was all so amazing.

First the dragon tamer, then the goblin?

Dumbledore quickly realized: "The dragon tamer is a goblin?"

Moriarty followed up: "If the fairies are dragon tamers, then the assumption that the monster army is looking for something can be established, since every wizard knows that fairies are the most greedy creatures."

At the same time, Moriarty remembered Salazar's diary.

The third page above says: Never believe in fairies!

Is there any connection between these things?

Polly nodded to the two of them: "I'm glad you thought of so much. After the divination, the old chief began to investigate the dragon tamer and the fairy."

"She discovered that the fairy rebellion was an organized and premeditated plan aimed at diverting the wizards' attention. I don't know what the outcome was, but I'm certain that the mastermind behind the fairy rebellion was someone else."

Polly sighed. "Mr. Moriarty, and Mr. Dumbledore, I know you are both outstanding students in the history of Hogwarts, and naturally have an instinctive trust in the knowledge in books."

"But who says that history in books is the real history?"

"Who can guarantee that the history we see is the true history, and not just what others want us to see?"

"Take the goblin rebellion of the 18th century, for example. The trigger was a group of young wizards who pushed a goblin named Lara, nicknamed Slob, into the pond in Hogsmeade."

"Lala herself became the leader of this rebellion, something you learned in your history of magic class, right?"

Moriarty has an excellent memory. He said, "Not only did I learn about it, but Lara Croft was even printed on Chocolate Frog cards. My classmates have hundreds of these cards, and he even thought about burning them all."

Dumbledore asked Moriarty nervously, "Your classmate didn't burn the Chocolate Frog card with my picture on it, did he?"

"No, no, your card is very popular among students," Moriarty replied politely.

"Oh, thank you, Merlin!"

Dumbledore exaggeratedly said, "I wouldn't be upset even if you took me off the position of Headmaster of Hogwarts and Head of Wizengamot—as long as you don't take me off the Chocolate Frog card."

Clearly, Polly didn't understand the joke. She was a serious centaur, her face tense and her lips pressed into a thin line.

"With a matter concerning the fate of humanity right before our eyes, you two still have the mood to joke around."

Moriarty laughed and said, "Alright, alright, let's just believe you for now. Everything we're discussing is based on the Immortal Organization."

"And fairies might be important members or even a component of an organization focused on immortality!"

"Why?" Moriarty's eyes gleamed. "If the Immortal Life Organization is a large, multinational organization that operates with the goal of immortality, then it must require a huge amount of funding!"

"Where did these funds come from?"

Moriarty tapped the table. "Do the organization's members pay?"

"We have seen all six members of the Blood Banquet - Ye Jingyu has to support a large group of black wizards, and even though the old woman has the support of an ancient family, she can't support it for ten centuries, right?"

The monk was traveling alone in Tsarist Russia. He was more likely to rely on the organization than to give back to it. The Eskimos lived in the Arctic Circle. What profitable industries could they possibly have to provide funding for the organization?

Vampires are a self-contained group; they wouldn't donate large sums of money to the organization, and Dracula enjoys considerable respect and fear within it. I don't think the organization would force vampires to provide funds.

"Therefore, the claim that members of the organization contribute funds is almost entirely unfounded."

"So, the question is, where does the Immortal Life Organization get its funding?"

Moriarty gave Dumbledore and Polly a meaningful smile, then exclaimed, "Fairies! Or rather... Gringotts!"

Polly's eyes widened. She and her compatriots had investigated for decades without finding out that Gringotts was providing funding to the Immortals organization, and they had never expected it.

Dumbledore's eyes flickered, sometimes bright, sometimes dim, clearly indicating that he was thinking rapidly.

Moriarty didn't rush to continue, but instead gave them enough time to think.

Even the greatest white wizard, Dumbledore, had moments of helplessness when it came to economics.

Moriarty had long harbored reservations about fairies and Gringotts.

Gringotts is essentially the bank of the wizarding world, and a monopolistic leader at that!

It goes without saying how powerful banks are in the Muggle world, but wizards and Muggles lead very different lives, which means that most wizards are unaware of the horrors of Gringotts.

Wizards are accustomed to storing their money in Gringotts, which is known as the safest place and has never had any problems during any of the goblin rebellions.

As a result, the wizards always assumed that the goblins wouldn't make a fuss about Gringotts.

This also reflects the inherent greed and avarice of fairies.

According to some pure-blooded family heads: Give those fairies a little bit of gold, and they'd be begging to kneel down and lick my boots.

Is that really the case?

If a fairy wanted to do something to a wizard, she could easily cut off the wizard's economic lifeline without the fairy having to pay a single copper coin!

Moriarty had long held reservations about the fairies and Gringotts, but he didn't understand why the fairies didn't do the same.

Now Moriarty understands: what if the fairy is after greater benefits?

Wizards can endure humiliation and take risks for greater benefits.

Who says fairies can't?

After ten quiet minutes, Moriarty looked at Polly: "Everything we've said is hypothetical—dragon tamers, fairies, and armies of monsters are searching, Gringotts is providing funding, and this hypothesis is clearly plausible."

"Now, we need a fact to prove that all the assumptions are true."

"So, what are the members of the Immortal Organization doing? Or rather... what are they looking for?"
