The mastermind behind Hogwarts
Chapter 25 World-Class Quidditch Skills
Chapter 25 World-Class Quidditch Skills
The flight lesson took place on a flat lawn, beyond which lay the forbidden forest, with dark trees swaying in the wind in the distance.
The Gryffindor students had all arrived, and there were more than thirty flying brooms neatly arranged on the ground. Moriarty heard Percy say loudly, "Charlie always complains to me about the brooms at school, saying that some brooms tremble when you fly too high, and others always veer slightly to the left."
What I'm saying is that the brooms are too old and worn out; they're too slow. When will new brooms be made?
"You can't afford a new broom, Weasley. Stop bringing up your brother all the time. We all know your family's situation—well, how should I put it? Terrible, isn't it!"
The Slytherin snakes arrived, and Keith immediately began mocking Percy. He looked smugly at the snakes around him, seemingly believing himself to be a hero.
However, only his companion Larpo smiled at him, while most of the small snakes moved closer to Moriarty.
Upon witnessing this, Percy approached Keith and said, "Poverty won't make me ignorant, but your ignorance will lead you to poverty, and not only that, it might even cost you your life!"
After saying this, he returned to the lions' camp with his head held high and shouted to his companions, "That guy definitely didn't listen to me. I bet you guys he'll be in for a world of hurt riding a broomstick!"
Keith's face turned ashen, while Larpo glared fiercely at Percy: "He's lying, and you won't mind, will you?"
Moriarty watched this minor argument unfold, shook his head, and thought the rivalry between Slytherin and Gryphon was far too intense.
Slytherin takes pleasure in looking down on Gryphon, while Gryphon takes pride in retaliating against Slytherin.
Lilith, who was standing next to him, thought differently and gave her opinions on both Percy and Keith.
"Where does Keith get the audacity to mock Weasley? Weasley looks rather plain because his family has too many children. You know, Weasley's father also works at the Ministry of Magic."
Keith's family declined too quickly, and at pure-blood gatherings, Keith's grandfather was often seen humbly smiling obsequiously.
But Weasley is really daring this time. Isn't he afraid that something might actually happen to Keith?
“I think Weasley meant well,” Jericho said, offering a different perspective. “Although he was showing off a bit, he did remind us that school brooms might not be able to do anything too difficult.”
"It's alright, I can guarantee our safety," Moriarty said as he saw Ms. Hodge arrive and lead the snakes to the opposite side of the lion cub.
Ms. Huo Qi, with her short gray hair, saw the students from the two academies standing neatly in two rows and nodded in satisfaction, saying, "Very good. What are you waiting for? Everyone, stand next to a flying broom. Quick, quick."
"Now, extend your right hand above the broom handle," Ms. Hodge demonstrated, "and say, 'Get up!'"
"Get up!" everyone shouted, but only Moriarty and Jericho succeeded, and the brooms obediently jumped into their hands.
"Mine is a Five-Star Sweep. It's a bit old."
"Mine is Comet 260. Judging by its appearance, its mass is acceptable."
Moriarty and Jericho exchanged a glance and agreed that the broom's condition was acceptable.
After all, we can't expect too much from the flying brooms of 1988. The light wheel and fire arrow models hadn't been developed yet. The national team was using the Seven Stars Sweep, and the brooms on the market were also the Five Stars Sweep.
The brooms at the school were just a bit old, Moriarty and Jericho smiled confidently, believing their skills were enough to make up for that.
"Get up!" Lilith shouted again, and she succeeded.
Percy succeeded in getting the broom on his third attempt.
With each shout, most students received their brooms.
Keith, however, didn't seem to be having such an easy time; his broom seemed to refuse to jump into his hands and kept rolling around on the ground.
Keith was so angry that he picked up the broom and swung it around a few times, which drew laughter from Percy and the others. However, the broom seemed to be frightened, and when Keith shouted "Get up" for the ninth time, it obediently jumped onto Keith's hand.
Meanwhile, Ms. Hodge was already demonstrating to the students how to ride a broom without slipping off their heads.
She patiently corrected the way several students were holding their hands, and then said loudly, "Okay, let's do our first test flight!"
If you feel ready to try flying, push off with both legs and leave the ground. Remember, push off hard. Okay?
After rising a few feet, it will fall vertically back to the ground. Got it?
Listen to my whistle, three—two—
However, Keith was afraid of falling behind the whistle—he wanted to be the first to fly out and regain the face he had just lost—so before the whistle even touched Mrs. Hooch's lips, he pushed off and flew up.
"Come back, child!" Mrs. Hooch cried, but her face turned pale instantly. "Oh, no!"
Keith rose so fast, like a fountain shooting straight up into the sky!
"Ah—help me!" Keith screamed in mid-air as his hands slowly slipped off the broom handle and he fell seventy feet from the sky!
"Yugadimm Leviosa!" Moriarty swung his cedarwood wand at Keith, and the levitation spell caused Keith to slowly descend. Moriarty also saved the broom that had been a little too excited.
As soon as Keith landed, Ms. Hodge picked him up. Even though he had only fainted, Ms. Hodge insisted on taking him to the school hospital.
Before leaving, Ms. Huo warned the students to put the brooms back in their original places and not to let them fly into the sky without permission.
She had barely moved out of earshot when Jericho excitedly exclaimed, "The opportunity has arrived! Mr. Moriarty! The opportunity has arrived! What are we waiting for? Let's take off!"
Moriarty glanced at him, nodded, stood side by side with Jericho, and with a powerful push off his broomstick, flew up to a height of thirty feet.
Jericho flew only slightly lower than Moriarty, a proud smile on his face: "As expected of the man who led Mr. Lockhart across the Himalayas, Mr. Moriarty, I bet you'll become a great Quidditch player—if you wish!"
The little snakes and lion cubs on the ground burst into screams and cheers, and Lilith looked eager to try, as if she also wanted to fly up.
After flying around once, Moriarty felt that both his broom and he were in good shape, and shouted to Jericho, "Let's begin! First move: Sloth Rolling Over a Tree!"
This is a world-class skill, often used to dodge wandering balls.
Moriarty hung on the broom, his hands and feet clinging tightly to the broom handle, like a sloth.
He sped up, and the broom spun like a top, rising straight upwards.
Jericho did the same thing and followed suit.
They didn't stop until they were fifty feet in the air.
"No pressure at all!" Jericho excitedly pumped his fist.
"Then, the second move: Wulangong's 'Zero' Form Flight Technique!"
It's another world-class skill.
After Moriarty finished speaking, he flew off, moving at high speed in a zigzag pattern.
The wind whistled past Moriarty's ears, and he felt incredibly refreshed. His white robes rustled in the wind as he stretched out his right hand, savoring the intimate contact between his skin and the wind.
It has to be said that this feeling is wonderful. Moriarty's eyes were full of joy. He had guessed that earth element was also a kind of elemental magic, but he forgot about the omnipresent wind.
"Moriarty! Moriarty!" Lilith screamed from the ground.
Jericho was also shouting, "Look ahead, Mr. Moriarty, you're about to crash!"
Moriarty snapped out of his daze, and a tall tower filled his entire field of vision.
Just as they were about to collide, Moriarty lifted the broom with all his might and recited "swift as the wind" to the broom.
The broom became as light and swift as a swallow, carrying Moriarty close to the tower wall as it flew higher into the sky.
A window in the tower was pushed open, revealing Professor McGonagall's surprised face, while Professor Snape was rushing over from the Potions classroom.
The students on the ground, completely unaware of this, were glued to Moriarty, their eyes fixed on him. "My God, he's flying so high!"
"Seventy feet, eighty feet, one hundred feet..." Lilith clasped her hands together and put them to her mouth, as if in prayer.
Jericho dared not fly any higher. He looked up at Moriarty and let out a trembling "Oh, no!"
Moriarty's heart pounded with excitement, a rare occurrence for him. He raised his hand high, extended one finger, and exclaimed, "One last move, Lansky feint!"
Moriarty took a deep breath, pressed his arms against the broom handle, and swooped down to the ground!
The students erupted in shouts and then scattered, giving Moriarty space.
Only Lilith remained motionless, watching Moriarty swoop down, so fast that his figure blurred and all she could see was a white blur.
"It's just like a shining star..." Lilith was mesmerized, but Moriarty was already close to the ground.
The students gasped in surprise. Just as the two were about to collide, Moriarty suddenly raised his broom and passed right in front of Lilith.
At the same time, he reached out and grabbed Lilith's wrist, using the wind and momentum to pull her onto the broom!
"Oh~ Moriarty!" Lilith sat sideways behind Moriarty, her silvery laughter ringing out as they flew.
Seeing that the tragedy had not occurred, the students jumped up. At that moment, there was no distinction between Slytherin and Gryphon. They high-fived each other and nodded excitedly as if they had witnessed a miracle.
Moriarty slowed down because the system issued a mission: "Lead the Slytherin team to win the Quidditch Trophy for the seventh consecutive year! Reward: A mysterious grand prize! Mission duration: Seven years! Mission failure: annihilation of the host!"
Before Moriarty could think, he heard a shout: "Slytherin! Piriwick! If you want to stay in this school, get down here right now!"
Professor Snape strode in, his face contorted with rage. He pushed aside the students, his wand gripping tightly in his hand. "Blanche? Do I have to say the same thing to you again?"
