Chapter 226 Voldemort's Diary

Madame Malfoy assumed Moriarty would behave like an aristocrat, sitting politely on the sofa in the drawing room while waiting.

Unexpectedly, Moriarty slowly shook his head.

"That probably won't work."

Mrs. Malfoy's expression changed, as if she had been offended, and she said quickly, "This is my home! Please respect me!"

I don't think I've fallen so low that I can't give orders in my own home.

"It is precisely because I respect you that I cannot allow you to take Voldemort's diary alone," Moriarty declared righteously.

"A Horcrux is a high-end, eerie tool of dark magic."

To prevent you from being bewitched by the Horcrux, I will stay by your side at all times from the moment you come into contact with it.

Moriarty had an air of selflessness on his face.

In reality, they had ulterior motives.

If nothing unexpected happens, Lucius should have placed the diary in the Malfoy family's underground secret room.

Moriarty just wanted to take a look around the underground chambers.

Of course, he wasn't after money.

Moriarty, who owned Slytherin Castle, was richer than a hundred Malfoys or a hundred Blacks combined.

His real purpose was to win the lottery.

The presence of the Polish Saints and the Japanese Magician gave Moriarty a bad feeling.

So he planned to draw a prize and exchange for elemental magic before the finals began.

The underground chambers accumulated by the Malfoy family over generations should offer plenty of prizes, right?

With this thought in mind, Moriarty led Mrs. Malfoy deeper into the villa without further ado.

"Honestly, Malfoy Manor is clearly my home, why are you acting like it's your own!"

Seeing Moriarty's familiar manner, Lady Malfoy chided him.

"You'd have to ask your house-elf, Dobby."

Moriarty shrugged and revealed a secret.

"Lucius sent Dobby to teach my house-elf Luke how to decorate his modern manor—you were there at the time."

Dobby listened to Lucius's advice and completed the task brilliantly, while Luke also learned excellent decorating skills for a modern manor.

However, whether intentionally or unintentionally, Dobby took Luke all over the manor, and Luke naturally reported the manor's structure to me.

I can say that, apart from the secret room in your house, I know everything about the entire manor.

Don't look at me like that. I swear by the Slytherin name, I have no interest in Malfoy Manor.

But shouldn't you be focusing your attention on Dobby?

I remember reminding Lucius to keep an eye on his house-elves.

I can tell that Dobby dislikes your family—Dobby is only restrained by his identity as a house-elf, otherwise he wouldn't attack you.

With each sentence Moriarty spoke, Mrs. Malfoy's expression changed, and by the end, she had furrowed her brows tightly.

Her biggest concern right now is her and Draco's safety. Dobby harbors a grudge against their family, and if it weren't for his status as a house-elf binding him, Malfoy Manor would no longer be safe!

Lady Malfoy could never have imagined that Dobby would misinterpret Lucius's words and lead Luke on a tour of the entire manor!

In Moriarty's eyes, Malfoy Manor must be like a naked beauty!

Oh, Merlin!

Mrs. Malfoy suddenly remembered that she had lost a bathrobe around this time last year!

At the time, she thought it was just the house-elf's carelessness, but now it seems it's not that simple...

Moriarty knew Malfoy Estate inside and out.

The bathrobe...could Moriarty have stolen it?

The moment the idea came to her, Mrs. Malfoy's heart skipped a beat.

Mrs. Malfoy glanced at Moriarty furtively as they walked along the road, Moriarty's profile revealing a meticulous seriousness.

"What am I thinking! He's seriously considering how to deal with Horcruxes, and I'm just doubting him."

Mrs. Malfoy was ashamed of the thought that had just crossed her mind. How could Moriarty steal her bathrobe? He was, after all, just a child.

But then, another voice popped into my head: "Moriarty is a child? Really? Do you believe it?"

Mrs. Malfoy, of course, didn't believe it; she was just looking for a plausible excuse.

After a short walk, with Moriarty and Madame Malfoy each lost in their own thoughts, they entered the underground chamber.

"Ding-dong~ The host has been detected to have discovered the Malfoy family's underground secret chamber. You will be rewarded with two exploration lottery draws."

Moriarty didn't mind that it wasn't enough and kept it.

Mrs. Malfoy went into the depths of the dark room and took out a black-covered diary from a box.

"This is a Horcrux?" Madame Malfoy approached Moriarty, holding Voldemort's diary. "I didn't sense any danger, nor did I see any indication that this thing would bewitch me."

"After all, with you by my side, Voldemort wouldn't dare to act recklessly," Moriarty said without batting an eye.

Mrs. Malfoy, still somewhat skeptical, handed the diary to Moriarty, saying, "But I gave it to you."

"That's a wise choice." Moriarty nodded slightly to her and extended his right hand to take the diary.

The black cover is slightly faded, and the old date indicates that it belongs to more than fifty years ago.

"Ding-dong~ The system detected that the host discovered and touched Voldemort's diary. You will be rewarded with two exploration lottery draws."

Moriarty turned to the first page, where a blurry name appeared on the yellowed paper: "Tom Marvolo Riddle".

Mrs. Malfoy leaned closer and let out a short, sharp scream: "Tom Marvolo Riddle!"

"You know this name?" Moriarty asked, somewhat surprised.

"Old Malfoy and the Dark Lord used to be very good friends," Mrs. Malfoy said softly, then added after a moment's thought, "used to be."

Moriarty nodded slightly. Mrs. Malfoy looked at the name carefully, as if she had discovered something, and pressed her fair finger on the name.

"Look, it's written with ink."

If it is a Horcrux, it must contain a fragment of a soul!

I think the Dark Lord used words to preserve that fragment of the soul.

"clever."

Moriarty gave her an encouraging look. "But you're half right. What Voldemort left in his diary was a memory."

"memory?"

"A memory from fifty years ago: he opened the secret chamber for the first time, released the basilisk inside, and killed Myrtle."

Mrs. Malfoy remained silent for a while before saying, "Now that the diary is in your hands, I want to see you destroy it."

"I don't need to elaborate on the power of Horcruxes; I can't destroy them here."

Moriarty said casually, "Alright, let's go out first."

I've already won the prize in the exploration lottery, so there's no need to stay here.

Mrs. Malfoy also felt that continuing to talk in the dark room was not a pleasant thing, so she went outside with Moriarty.

They walked back to the drawing room in silence. Madame Malfoy invited Moriarty to have morning tea, but Moriarty declined.

"I have other things to do, so let's not beat around the bush, just say what you want to say."

"The problem with the Horcrux," Madame Malfoy said, sitting down on the sofa next to Moriarty. "I'm worried that you won't be able to destroy it, and will instead be bewitched by the spirits inside."

"Alright, let me show you Voldemort from fifty years ago." Moriarty suddenly became interested and placed the diary on the coffee table.

Moriarty smiled slightly at Madame Malfoy: "Could I have a quill pen and a new bottle of ink?"

"certainly."

Mrs. Malfoy quickly brought Moriarty the items he needed.

Moriarty unscrewed the ink bottle, placed it on the coffee table, and dipped his quill into the ink.

Mrs. Malfoy sat next to Moriarty, watching all of this with curiosity.

"Watch closely, don't blink."

Moriarty turned around and smiled, then drew several horizontal lines across Tom's name, as if he wanted to cross it out completely.

After finishing his work, Moriarty gave a mocking smile and wrote on the first page of the diary, above Tom's name: "Rupert Hagrid".
