Having confirmed that the magician was using dark magic, Moriarty lost all interest in staying in the Forbidden Forest.
The magician's dark elemental magic transformed the Forbidden Forest into a filthy mud forest, as if a rain of blood had fallen, with the ground covered in black slime.
The good news, however, is that the magician seemed to have a hard time casting the spell "Apocalyptic Decay." He barely managed to defend against it.
If it were Moriarty, he would add a corrosive toxin to the River of Blood and Skull Mountain to prevent anyone from using dark elemental magic.
Otherwise it would look like this—
Moriarty pointed his cedarwood wand at a lump of dark, slimy liquid on the ground. "The Takeaway of the Wind."
The wind elemental magic followed the air into the slime, attempting to steal the dark elemental magic.
"Ding-dong~ Attempt to seize failed."
Moriarty had anticipated this outcome. He extracted a small amount of the slime and stored it in a small golden bottle, placing it in his system space, waiting to try extracting it again once his wizard level had increased.
Then he raised his wand and summoned a downpour, the raindrops pattering into the Forbidden Forest, washing away the filth and destructive aura brought by the dark elemental magic.
Moriarty flew back to the Quidditch pitch, where the audience had already dispersed and entered the Great Hall. Only Marcus was waiting to report to Moriarty.
As soon as Moriarty landed, Marcus leaned over and whispered, "The family wizards couldn't stop the magician, and he escaped from Hogsmeade."
"Tell me the details," Moriarty ordered as he walked toward the castle.
Marcus said somewhat ashamedly, "The magician fooled the wizard in the house with an inflatable doll. The real him changed his appearance and disguised himself as a witch to sneak out of Hogsmeade."
Moriarty nodded indifferently, while Marcus lowered his head in trepidation: "Father said the Flint family has mishandled things and is willing to accept any punishment from the young master."
"Remember those silver-maned horses?" Moriarty stopped in his tracks.
"You mean Glaling?" Marcus looked up.
"Get a batch of Grallings and put them in the stables at Slytherin Castle. You need to train them to be obedient and understand human nature." Moriarty glanced at Marcus and continued walking towards the castle.
Marcus readily agreed with a smile, "Well then, sir. I'll go find Hagrid; he's been looking after those Grallings."
Moriarty nodded slightly. This burly young man had finally found the career he loved.
"Moriarty is back!"
A girl screamed, and Moriarty saw heads popping out of the castle windows like gophers.
The girls had bright smiles on their faces.
Moriarty strode into the auditorium to avoid being tackled by a crazed female fan.
Dumbledore, Ludo, and the national team were talking in the hall, and Moriarty told them the truth about the magician using magic on him.
Ludo was the first to stand up in response to Moriarty, and he said indignantly: "The magician actually used magic on you? He must be trying to bewitch and control you. What did that brainwashing voice say?"
The heir! Oh, Merlin! Ha ha, what a ridiculous trick!
"If you ask me, it would be best if Moriarty captured him, and we'd send him to Azkaban to perform magic tricks for the villains there."
"Director Ludo, don't let anger cloud your judgment. That brainwashing voice may not be coming from the magician."
You heard it—the voice said to choose an heir.
Dumbledore looked up at Moriarty, as if he were certain that Moriarty was the "heir," a glint of light flashing across his half-moon spectacles.
"The magician obviously wouldn't choose a successor, would he? So I think there's a dark force lurking behind the magician."
Moriarty exchanged a sharp glance with Dumbledore; clearly, they were thinking the same thing.
Dumbledore looked out the window toward the east. The wizard he had sent to China to investigate the Himalayan avalanche was still missing.
The magician fled in the east; could the magician be a Chinese sorcerer?
Roman walked over, still reeling from his defeat, his tone hesitant.
"Um... before the magician left, uh, I mean before he ran away, he told me that if we met again, we might be enemies."
Moriarty's eyes flashed: "Is that so?"
Roman nodded dejectedly, but Ludo immediately jumped in, laughing angrily, "A magician planning to declare war on the British Ministry of Magic? Wishful thinking, wishful thinking!"
"Hey, hey!" the man with the afro hurriedly shouted, "My dear director, I think the 'enemy' the magician was talking about is an enemy on the Quidditch pitch. He must be telling us that he will be representing another country in the World Cup, and then we will be the opponents."
"That makes things simpler," Moriarty said. "Once the World Cup starts, we'll see which country Magician will represent."
"You mean—there really is a powerful force behind the magician?" Ludo suddenly became serious, his change of expression so swift it left the afro-haired man speechless. "And this force is connected to the Ministry of Magic of their country?"
"Obviously." Moriarty shrugged, sat down at the table, and said to Red Nose, "Could my future teammate please ask the house-elf in the kitchen to make me a glass of grape milk? Thank you."
"Um," Red Nose touched his reddened nose, "Well, it's impossible for a Hogwarts student not to know where the kitchen is, right? But are you really sure it's okay to say it in front of the headmaster?"
Red Nose glanced at Dumbledore, who gave him a faint smile and did not stop him.
"I must remind you, Mr. Moriarty has the highest authority over this castle," Ludo said smugly, standing behind Moriarty.
This tone made Moriarty wonder if Ludo was Lockhart's biological brother.
"Oh, so you're starting to boss us around now, trying to integrate the team, huh? Not bad." The man with the afro walked over to Moriarty, sat down, and frowned deeply. "But let me make this clear, the national team isn't Hogwarts, nor is it Slytherin Castle..."
"Enough, stop with the long-winded talk. You should know that these words mean nothing to me." Moriarty tapped the table in front of the man with the afro with his knuckles. "We agreed before that if the Dream Team wins, I will join the national team."
You saw how I performed, didn't you?
I don't care what you say, it's a fact that I'm better than you, and it's also a fact that I will lead the England team to win the World Cup.
"But, but? You're suspected of using magic!" the man with the afro said defiantly, tugging at Roman's sleeve, hoping Roman would speak up for him.
"I didn't! I never use magic in Quidditch," Moriarty declared loudly, his face unwavering. "It's the Magician who brainwashed me—can you guarantee he didn't brainwash the other players?"
The man with the afro was stumped by the question: Who can guarantee that?
His expression changed, and a bead of cold sweat slid down his forehead.
Moriarty crossed his arms and placed them on the table, revealing a mocking smile.
"Think about it, man. Once this gets out and players from other countries complain to the International Wizarding Association, all the efforts and past victories of the England team will vanish."
The man with the afro and Roman exchanged a panicked glance. Before they could come up with a solution, Ludo let out a cry of pain.
"My good sir, you are a noble Slytherin," Ludo plopped down to Moriarty's left, forcing a fawning smile. "Slytherins are the purest blood in England, and the honor of the England team is also part of the great glory of Slytherins. We are family."
Ludo, the director of the sports department, was genuinely afraid that the magician's tricks would be exposed, and if a complaint was filed, he, as the director, would likely have to resign.
Moriarty sneered. "Director Ludo, how many championships has the England team won? Do you even deserve to talk to me about glory?"
"Haha, um... hehehe," Ludo laughed awkwardly, feeling that he had lost face in front of Moriarty and Dumbledore, but he couldn't vent his anger, so he could only take it out on Roman, glaring at him fiercely a few times.
"Alright, that's enough." Moriarty waved his hand to quiet Ludo and the guy with the afro.
He said to Roman, "I'm giving you and your teammates a week to adjust. Come to Hogwarts for training in a week. If I find that your mentality is still as fragile as paper, don't blame me for being ruthless. You'll all be sent home!"
Roman and the man with the afro opened their mouths, while Moriarty narrowed his eyes. "You're not convinced? Very well! I'll tell you the results of my evaluation of you. You are utterly unqualified!"
As it stands, do you even deserve to be my teammates? The capable rise, the mediocre fall; I can replace you anytime and bring in the Dream Team for the World Cup—perhaps we'd do better!
