Chapter 31 One Night at the Pokémon Center

Upon hearing Angie's cry for help, Miss Joey immediately came to her aid.

Looking at Gardevoir's swollen belly, Miss Joy asked, "Is she about to give birth?"

Anjie quickly explained, "It's been in pain for a long time, but the baby just won't come out."

Miss Joy nodded, "I understand." Then she beckoned to Chansey, "Chansey, take Gardevoir into the delivery room." After that, she turned to comfort Ange and the anxious Kirlia, "Don't worry, everything will be fine with me here. You two wait outside, the baby will be born soon."

"Miss Joey, please," Angel said, holding Miss Joey's hand as if he were the child's father.

Miss Joy gave Anja and Kirlia a reassuring look, then quickly followed Chansey into the birthing room.

Ange, holding Komaru and Kirlia, waited in the hall for a while. Suddenly remembering that Crowmaster was still outside, she said to Kirlia, "Kirlia, I'm going to check on Crowmaster. Are you going to wait here, or come with me?"

Kirlia shook its head and pointed to the location of the birthing room, indicating that it would stay there and not leave until Gardevoir was out of danger.

"Okay, wait a moment, I'll be right back," Anjie said.

Kirlia nodded. Actually, it was the first time it had seen so many people, and it was very nervous and scared. But when it thought of Gardevoir, who was still inside receiving emergency treatment, it had to muster up its courage to stay here.

Just as uneasy as Kirullian was Raven Leader. Despite its calm demeanor, standing tall and proud, it was actually inwardly panicking.

With its imposing raven head standing at the entrance of the Pokémon Center, it's hard not to attract attention, so passersby will inevitably glance at it, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

This made the crow leader even more panicked.

It's also because the crow leader hasn't seen many humans and is afraid of them. You have to know that its kind living in the human world are completely different from it; they can be considered the tyrants of the Pokémon world.

Cunning, domineering, cruel, and ruthless... these are the first impressions people have of the Pokémon Crowhead, which can also be described as stereotypes.

"Raven Leader!" Angie ran out of the Pokémon Center and shouted. At that moment, Raven Leader felt that Angie was simply a god who had descended from the sky.

"Awoo~~~"

Crow Head hopped over to Anjie in a few steps, revealing a hint of unease.

Anjie noticed the crow leader's nervousness and patted its wings to comfort it, "Don't worry, it's alright, I'm here."

At that moment, Crow Leader did feel a sense of relief.

Then he suddenly remembered something, "Oh right, Chief Crow, are you hungry? I'll buy you something to eat."

The crow shook its head. How could it eat human food?

However, Ange ignored its refusal, "Let's go, let's go. Even if you don't eat, Kirlia has been worried sick the whole way, she must be hungry. Besides, Gardevoir will need to eat after she comes out of the birthing room, right? Giving birth is very tiring."

Since Anjie had already gone this far, how could the leader of the crows possibly refuse?

Anjie inquired at the Pokémon Center and found a Pokémon shop nearby that specializes in selling Pokémon items, including Pokémon food.

"Welcome." As soon as An Jie pushed open the door, a pretty young lady greeted him. "What would you like to order?"

Anjie waved her hand and said, "Let me take a look myself first."

The young woman still had a smile on her face, "Okay, feel free to call me anytime if you need anything."

Anjie nodded, then looked at the leader of the crows at the door and said, "Wait for me a moment."

The crow nodded obediently.

Anjie walked around the store and quickly found the place that specializes in selling Pokémon food.

After some observation, Anjie discovered that the Pokémon food here is generally divided into two main categories.

One type is suitable for trainers to carry when traveling. The most typical example of this type is the Energy Cube, which has highly compressed energy. Eating just a little bit can make you feel full. Its advantage is that it is easy to carry.

One type is suitable for feeding Pokémon at home, with Pokémon cookies being a typical example. These are characterized by their delicious taste and diverse shapes. The more common ones are cylindrical, about the size of a child's thumb; the more elaborate ones are square, diamond-shaped, round, heart-shaped… and even various mini Pokémon shapes. In short, they are very appealing.

In terms of price, the first category is generally more expensive.

Anjie thought about it and chose a little of both.

Energy Cubes, a small box, cost 500 League Coins. According to the cashier, this box can feed a Pokémon for two or three days.

Too expensive!

I bought a huge jar of Pokémon Cookies from Ange, a cylindrical jar that's one meter tall and one meter in diameter, for 800 League Coins.

It’s not cheap either.

Anjay walked out of the store carrying the Pokémon food she had just bought, and then said to the leader of the crows, "Let's go back to the Pokémon Center for lunch."

The crow nodded, slowly flapped its wings and flew up, following closely behind Anjie.

Anjie held the large jar of Pokémon cookies, placed the small box containing Energy Cubes on top, and then put the Komaru on the lid of the jar.

That's really heavy!

As he walked, he said to the tree-pillow koala, "Tree-pillow koala, are you full tonight? If not, you can try the energy cubes up there. They're really expensive. I wonder if they're any good."

The tree-pillow bear rolled over, lifted the lid of the energy cube, and popped one into its mouth.

I must say, these energy cubes look really good. Each one is about the size of a fingernail, crystal clear, and there are white, red, green, blue... in the box... just like crystals, very beautiful.

Anjie thought it should taste good.

However, the tree-pillow koala only ate one piece before closing the lid and refusing to eat a second one.

"You're full already?" Anjie asked in surprise. "Looks like the lady at the shop wasn't lying."

Just as the two Pokémon walked into a dimly lit alley, a dark figure suddenly darted out and snatched the Power Cube that Ange had placed on top with lightning speed, then quickly retreated back into the alley.

"Awoo~~"

Seeing this, the crow cawed and was about to retaliate against the darkness of the alley, while the tree pillow bear raised its glowing tree pillow, ready to smash it at any moment.

Angie quickly stopped the two Pokémon, saying, "Never mind, it's just a box of Energy Cubes." Angie naturally had a relaxed attitude towards Pokémon, because he loved them.

The crow leader and the tree-pillow bear then gave up, especially the crow leader, whose gaze toward Anjie held a subtle hint of closeness and affirmation.

The one that just stole the energy cube was clearly a Pokémon.

Anjie stared into the darkness of the alley for a long time before leaving with Crow Head and Tree Pillow Tail Bear.

As soon as he left, a Haunter carrying an Energy Cube box quietly peeked out from the darkness. This Haunter was slightly different in color from the usual Haunter.

The normal Gastly has a dark purple body and a red tongue, while this one is grayish-purple with a light purple tongue.

Gastly watched Angel's departing figure for a long while before returning to the darkness.

After returning to the Pokémon Center, Ange went inside with Crow Leader. After finding Kirlia, they went to the area in the Pokémon Center where Pokémon were to eat. Ange spent a few Happiness Points to buy three food bowls from the system shop and filled each bowl with Pokémon Cookies, placing them in front of the three Pokémon.

"Eat quickly," Anjie said.

The crow leader obediently began to eat heartily, while the tree-pillowed koala, lacking interest, rolled over next to Angie and continued to snore.

Kirlia, on the other hand, could not eat.

Seeing this, Ange advised Kirlia, "After Gardevoir gives birth, both she and the babies will need care. How can you have the strength to take care of them if you don't eat enough?"

Hearing this, Kirlia began to eat, bite by bite.

As for the tree-pillow koala that didn't get any food, Anjie didn't force it and put it all with the crow leader so that the crow leader could eat it.

After the two Pokémon finished eating, everyone continued to wait anxiously. As time passed, Kirlia's mood visibly became more and more irritable.

Just then, the lights in the delivery room suddenly went out, and Nurse Joy came out holding a white and green Pokémon egg.

Anjie and the others quickly went to greet them.

"Miss Joy, how is Gardevoir?"

Kirullian kept glancing towards the delivery room.

"Congratulations, mother and baby are safe and sound." Nurse Joy said as she handed the Pokémon egg to Ange.

"That's wonderful." Ange, the Crow Leader, and Kirlia all breathed a sigh of relief. Ange took the Pokémon egg and handed it directly to the eagerly waiting Kirlia, explaining to Nurse Joy, "Kirlia is the father of the child."

Miss Joey smiled and nodded, indicating her understanding.

"Miss Joy, may we go see Gardevoir now?" Ange asked again.

"Of course." Miss Joy nodded. "Gardedor had a difficult delivery this time and suffered considerable damage to her body. She must make sure to get plenty of nutrition in the coming period, otherwise her body will have a hard time recovering."

Hearing this, Kirullian was in a dilemma. It was currently a period of food scarcity on the Nibel Plateau, and even if it wanted to, it was powerless to help.

Ange crouched down and patted Kirlia's head, then looked up at Nurse Joy and said, "Of course, we'll take good care of Gardevoir."

Miss Joy nodded in satisfaction. "Then you two go see Gardevoir. If there are any problems, just call me and Chansey. If everything is normal before dawn, then Gardevoir can be discharged."

"Thank you, Miss Joey, you've worked hard."

After watching Nurse Joy leave, Anjay was about to take Kirlia and Raven to visit Gardevoir when Kirlia tugged at Anjay's sleeve.

"Chiru~ Chiru~"

It was a way of thanking Ange.

Kirlia is a Pokémon that can sense the emotions of others. When Angel touched the red sensory organ on its head, it instantly understood that Angel was helping them sincerely and without expecting anything in return.

He was serious about even the promise he made to Miss Joey.

Anja smiled as he sensed that Kirullian was much more friendly towards him.

"Let's go see Gardevoir quickly, Gardevoir must really want to see you right now."

"Chiru~"

Kirullian nodded and, together with Ange, pushed open the door to the delivery room.

Gardevoir was lying weakly in bed when it saw Kirlia enter, and it immediately gave Kirlia a bright smile.

When it saw the baby in Kirullian's arms, it immediately reached out to hug the baby.

Kirlia teleported to Gardevoir's side and handed it the baby.

Gardevoir carefully held the baby in her arms, gently stroking the hard-won child with her palm, her face full of love.

"Sanai~Sanai~~"

Gardevoir then sincerely thanked Ange, saying that without Ange's help, its babies might not have been born.

"Gardevoir, you should rest well. Don't worry about anything else," Ange said to Gardevoir.

"Gardener~" Gardevoir nodded gratefully.

Then Ange said to Kirlia, "Kirlia, you keep Gardevoir company. I'm going out with Crow, call me if you need anything."

He knew that Gardevoir and Kirlia would definitely want to spend some time alone together.

"Chiru~ Chiru~"

Kirlia nodded and held Gardevoir's hand tightly.

Before leaving, Angel left the Pokémon Cookies with Kirlia, asking Kirlia to take care of Gardevoir and make sure it was well-fed.

After leaving the delivery room, Anjie went to Miss Joey's place to settle the medical bills for the treatment.

"Hello, 5000 League Coins," Miss Joy said with a smile. "Do you have a registered, official Trainer status with the League? I can give you a 50% discount."

Anja shook his head. "I'm not a trainer." Not only am I not, but I'm also unregistered.

He then promptly took out his money and paid the bill.

"Oh, right!" Nurse Joy suddenly remembered something, "We have incubators here that are specially designed to protect Pokémon eggs and promote their hatching. Would you like one?"

"How much is one?" Anjie asked.

"500 Alliance Coins," Miss Joey replied.

"Alright, I'll take one." Sure enough, nothing related to Pokémon is cheap.

Of course, this also proves the prosperity of Pokémon culture in the world.

After paying, Anjay carried the incubator back to the birthing room and handed it to Kirlia. He didn't tell Kirlia and Gardevoir how much they had spent at the Pokémon Center, nor did he tell them that the incubator had been purchased.

However, everything he did was seen by the raven leader who had been watching him closely, and later the raven leader secretly told Kirlia and Gardevoir about it.

That night, Angie cuddled the Tree Pillow Koala and leaned against the Crow Head, spending the night in the lobby of the Pokémon Center.

Although the autumn nights in the Kingdom of Azot were chilly, Ange nestled warmly against the fluffy wings of the crow's head, and when he awoke the next day, he felt refreshed.

Early in the morning, Miss Joy was already busy with Chansey, and Anjay greeted them warmly.

Good morning, Miss Joey.

Good morning, sir.
