For the past hundred years, Gulis has been teaching Hoopa to appreciate nature, to understand the true meaning of power, and to know that power is not for causing trouble, but should be used in a useful way.

After Gulis passed away, the task of protecting Hoopa fell on the shoulders of Balza and Mayali.

Balza and Mayari felt that Hoopa was now able to harness the power of the past and understand their great-grandfather's teachings, so they took it with them and left the Valley of Creation.

They came to the place where their great-grandfather had sealed Hoopa, hoping to help Hoopa find the Jar of Punishment and regain his former power.
