Chapter 14 The Food I Miss

Several days passed in the blink of an eye. Due to word of mouth among the Pokémon, the number of Pokémon coming to Ange's place for breakfast every morning gradually increased to more than before his identity was exposed.

Some Pokémon that had never seen a human before actually came to peek at Ange just to catch a glimpse of what humans looked like, and then they were so enticed by the tempting aroma emanating from the store that they couldn't leave.

Anja also discovered that the Pokémon that came to monitor him every day were different. At first it was Talonflame, the second day it was Altaria, the third day it was Victoire... and so on, changing every day.

Today is the day of the Qixi Bluebird again.

"Good morning, Tanabata Bluebird." Anjie greeted the Tanabata Bluebird in a friendly manner as he came out to water the flowers.

The bluebird perched on the roof of Anjie's house, burying its head in its fluffy wings and lazily basking in the sun. Its soft, fluffy feathers looked even softer after being exposed to the sun, making Anjie want to bury her head in them too.

Sleeping on it must be so comfortable.

Upon hearing An Jie's voice, the Qixi Bluebird looked up at him, then slowly buried its head back into its wings.

Seeing that it wasn't angry at its indifferent attitude, Anjie smiled and asked, "I saw you came early this morning, you probably haven't eaten anything, right? How about I get you something to eat?"

"Wow~~~"

Upon hearing this, the bluebird looked up and cried out. Although Anjie couldn't understand its words, it was clear that it was rejecting her.

"Fine, I won't eat it then."

With that, Anjie carried the water bottle back into the shop.

A few minutes later, the three birds—the Blue Cottonbird, the Little Arrow Sparrow, and Pink Fragrance—flew onto the roof with a bowl of steamed buns hanging from a rope and placed the buns in front of the Blue Cottonbird.

"Tsk~Tsk~~" The Qixi Bluebird angrily cried out to the Blue Cotton Bird, clearly unwilling to accept Anjie's kindness.

"Chiru~ Chiru~"

The blue cotton bird felt that its mother was completely inexplicable. Anjie was clearly so kind, but its mother always said that Anjie had ill intentions. So it got angry and started arguing with its mother.

When Pink Fragrance and Little Arrow Sparrow saw that the Blue Cotton Bird couldn't win the argument with its mother, they immediately joined in the argument, making the Blue Cotton Bird so angry it was practically fuming.

These little brats are so ungrateful!

In the end, the four Pokémon parted on bad terms, with Swabbit flying away with Finch and Pinkie Pie in a huff.

However, about an hour later, the Cottonwood returned with Pink Fragrance and Little Arrow Finch. They stood side by side in front of the Tanabata and solemnly apologized to it.

After some questioning, the Qixi Bluebird learned that it was Anjie who persuaded the Blue Cotton Bird to come back and reconcile with its mother.

The Qixi Bluebird was filled with mixed feelings. It looked at the now-cold steamed bun in front of it and fell into deep thought.

Through these days of surveillance, it was confirmed that the human had not done anything to harm the Pokémon. On the contrary, because of his feeding, the children grew stronger day by day, and the pressure on them to raise their children was greatly reduced.

But how could there be such humans in the world? They are completely different from the humans it had in mind.

Although Altaria's offspring are native to the Nibel Plateau, Altaria itself is not. It was an accidental wanderer that ended up in the Nibel Plateau and was taken in and protected by Lord Volcanion.

In fact, the juvenile bluebirds live with their own flock when they are young. They migrate to different places with the changing seasons. Although they can't be said to have no worries about food and drink, the family members love and help each other and live a relatively happy life.

It wasn't until later that it met its trainer, was captured by the trainer, and was separated from its family.

Its trainer is a very strict person. His goal is to become one of the Elite Four, or even the champion, so he is extremely demanding of his Pokémon during training.

At that time, Altaria was still young, a Swablu, so it couldn't meet many of its trainer's requirements and was often scolded by its trainer.

For various reasons, Swabbit suffered repeated defeats in the competitions it participated in later, and was eventually abandoned by its trainer out of anger.

Although it happened many years ago, the image of the Qixi Bluebird still seems vivid to me now.

Looking at the food in front of it, the Qixi Bluebird's thoughts gradually drifted away.

Soon, the Pokémon finished their breakfast and left the small building one after another.

Just then, a cry came from the sky, and another bluebird appeared. The bluebird looked up and saw that her husband had come to pick her up. A smile appeared in the bluebird's originally melancholy eyes.

"Wow~ wow~~"

The father cottonbird gently landed next to the mother cottonbird and nuzzled his head against his wife's neck. The mother cottonbird responded by nuzzling her head against her husband in return.

After seeing that most of the children had left, the couple flew away from Anjie's home together.

After a while, An Jie came out to check the situation and saw that the food hadn't been touched, so he sighed deeply.

Back at the shop, Anjay, Diancie, and Munchlax cleaned up together. It was then that Anjay noticed a pile of things in the corner.

"Where did this come from?" Anjie asked, picking up the object.

This... isn't this a lotus root? It still has some mud on it, you can tell it's very fresh.

Upon hearing this, Diancie looked over, thought for a moment, and replied, "It seems to have been brought over by Trumpet Sprout. What's wrong?"

"This is really good stuff!" Anjie said.

He'd been eating steamed buns every day and was really looking forward to trying something new, but there wasn't enough lotus root to make a single dish, not to mention he had a big eater at home, a little Snorlax.

"Gang~~" Can I eat it?

The little Snorlax came closer and stared intently at the lotus root in Anja's hand.

"Of course, it's delicious too." Anja replied with a smile, then thought for a moment and said to Diancie, "Dianci, you and Komaru stay here and watch the house. Snorlax and I will go find Bellsprout and ask where this lotus root came from, and see if we can bring back more."

Anjie's mouth watered involuntarily as she thought about all the delicious dishes that could be made with lotus root.

Actually, there were many lotus flowers blooming in the lake not far from Anjie's house. He had wanted to see if he could dig up some lotus roots, but the lake was too deep and he didn't have any Water-type Pokémon to help him, so he had to give up.

"Okay, go ahead without worry." Tianxi nodded.

"Little Munchlax, let's go," Anjay called to Little Munchlax.

"Gang~~"

The little Snorlax immediately followed Angel with delight.

Anjie walked to the door and was surprised to find a beautiful white butterfly fluttering in his flowerbed. He exclaimed in surprise, "White butterfly? You've evolved?"

Looking back, it seems like it's been a while since I've seen the pink butterfly pupa. Turns out it secretly went to evolve!

"Li~~"

The butterfly nodded happily and expressed its gratitude to Anjie. If it weren't for Anjie's feeding, it wouldn't have been able to accumulate enough energy to complete its evolution so quickly.

"Have you had breakfast?" Anjie asked.

The butterfly shook its head. It had just evolved and came to Anjie, wanting to share its joy of evolution with him immediately.

"Then come inside and let Diancie prepare something to eat for you. You haven't eaten in a long time, you must be hungry." Angel stretched out an arm, letting the Vivado gently land on it. "I have to go out with Snorlax for a while, I won't be back for a bit."

"Li~"

The butterfly nodded and, from who-knows-where, pulled out a bright red flower and handed it to Anjie.

Anjie took the flower, held it to her nose, and sniffed it lightly. "It smells so good! Thank you, I really like it."

"Li~~"

The butterfly happily circled Anjie twice, and then, persuaded by Anjie, went inside.

"Let's go," Anja said, placing the flower in the Snorlax's ear.

As the little Snorlax walked, it reached out and gently touched the flower on its ear.

"Gang~" Am I pretty?

It asked Anjie shyly.

Although Anjie didn't understand what it was saying, he could tell what it was thinking from its vain expression, so he chuckled and said, "You're quite vain for a boy, how cute."

Upon hearing this, the little Snorlax grinned.

As An Jie walked, he still hadn't found the trumpet bud when suddenly the system gave him a notification. He opened the system interface and a pop-up window immediately appeared.

Congratulations, Master! You have hosted a total of 100 Pokémon. You have earned the achievement reward: Intelligence +1.

Anjie was taken aback. Was there really such a surprise?

Needless to say, it must be because Diancie entertained the Butterfly. When he looked again, his Happiness Points balance had indeed increased by 150 points.

He then looked at his personal information.

Anjie

Race: human

Sex: Male

Age: 16 (+500)

Physical condition: 4

Intelligence: 3

Culinary skills rating: A complete novice, barely able to eat it.

Anjie was delighted to have become stronger again, although he didn't know exactly which aspect of his intelligence had been enhanced, and he didn't feel that he had become smarter.

After closing the system interface, Anjie looked at Munchlax and asked, "Mumplax, do you know where Bellsprout lives?"

"Gang~~"

The little Snorlax gently shook its head.

"Alright, let's ask a Pokémon."

"Gang~~"

The little Snorlax nodded and immediately turned its head to look around for a target. Suddenly, a Flabber appeared in its sight. Its eyes lit up, and it immediately shouted and waved at Flabber.

"Gang~ Gang~~"

Hua Beibei hovered in mid-air. She saw Snorlax and Angel. She had seen Angel before, but she had been scared away before because of Angel's human identity.

Although it was still afraid this time, it did not turn and run away. It was very curious about Ange because there had been a lot of talk about Ange all over the Nibel Plateau recently.

Some said that Anjie must be plotting something bad, while others defended Anjie, saying that he was a kind human being who could make delicious food. Still others remained neutral and did not express any opinion. In short, the two sides continued to argue.

Hua Beibei was very curious about the real situation.

So, at Snorlax's call, Flora slowly descended from the sky.

Seeing that Hua Beibei didn't run away immediately upon seeing him, Anjie felt that his relationship with the Pokémon on the Nibel Plateau was indeed getting closer little by little, and his mood became even more cheerful.

"Hua Beibei, do you know where Trumpet Sprouts live?" Anjie tried her best to appear friendly.

Hua Beibei hesitated for a moment, then nodded gently.

"Could you please show me the way? I need your help with something," Anjie continued.

"Whoosh~ Whoosh~" Okay, follow me.

As she spoke, Hua Beibei chose a direction and flew forward, and Anjie quickly followed with Snorlax.

On the way, Anjie tried to strike up a conversation with Hua Beibei, but Hua Beibei became very nervous whenever she made eye contact with Anjie and couldn't have a normal conversation at all. On the other hand, the little Munchlax chatted with it enthusiastically, exchanging a few words here and there.

"Gang~ Gang~~" Do you think I'm pretty?

The little Snorlax held its head in its hands, showing the flower by its ear to Flowerbee.

"Whoosh~ Whoosh~" Hmph, none of them are as pretty as my flowers.

Hua Beibei gently swayed the fairy flower beneath her, speaking with a haughty and smug air.

"Gam~~Gam~~~" Impossible, I must be cute, my master praised me for being cute.

Snorlax immediately retorted.

"Whoosh~ Who is your master? What is a master?"

Hua Beibei looked puzzled.

"Gang~ Gang~ Gang~~" Of course, my master is An Jie. A master is a master.

The little Snorlax answered confidently, even though it didn't know what its master was.

Although Anjie couldn't understand what the two little guys were arguing about, he couldn't help but smile as he looked at their vivid expressions.

Led by Hua Beibei, Anjie and his companions passed through a thicket of bushes and finally arrived at a meadow. From afar, Anjie could hear the sounds of trumpet buds, mouth-shaped flowers, and large-flowered flowers.

Through the layers of leaves, Anjie could see a large carnivorous plant, a mouth-shaped flower, and three trumpet buds playing and frolicking on the grass opposite.

Ange had met Carnivora before; he was the father of Bellflower, while Blossom was Carnivora's mate and Bellflower's mother.

As soon as Angel and Munchlax approached, Victreebel noticed their presence.

"Ah~~" Who's there? Come out!

Now that she had been discovered, Anjie simply walked out openly.

Upon seeing Anjie, Big Eater jumped to the front, protecting its family behind it, its face full of vigilance.

Is this human finally about to reveal their true colors?

Trumpet Sprout was very happy to see Anjie and was about to run to her side, but was stopped by her older brother and sister.

Seeing their tense expressions, Anjie quickly explained, "Don't misunderstand, I just came to ask Trumpet Sprout for a favor."

The giant carnivore's face did not lose its vigilance, only showing a hint of doubt.

Upon seeing this, An Jie took out the section of lotus root she was carrying with her. "I just want to ask where the trumpet-shaped buds came from."

At this moment, the trumpet bud finally broke free from its older siblings. It twisted its slender body, trying to run to Anjie, but was pulled back by its mother with a vine whip.

The trumpet bud, held aloft by its mother with a rattan whip, squawked and waved its arms and legs, trying to express something, but unfortunately Anjie couldn't understand a word it said.

Anjie asked, "Bulbasaur, Victoire, could Bellsprout show me the way? If you're worried, you can come along."

The giant carnivore scrutinized Anjie for a few seconds, hesitated for a few seconds, and finally nodded. It glanced at its wife, and the gull-mouthed flower gently put down the trumpet bud.
