Wang Dashan led his family for more than half an hour before daring to stop.

He looked around and soon found a cave.

He went in to take a look. It wasn't big, but it was big enough for his family. It was dry and well-ventilated, and there were no poisonous snakes or insects. Only then did he feel at ease letting his family go in to rest.

"I'm going to find something to eat." After settling his family in, Wang Dashan was about to leave.

Li stopped him, saying, "It's dark here, and it's not safe in the woods. Let's find something to eat tomorrow. Have some fruit to tide us over for now."

She had just picked the fruit on the road, and it came in handy in this emergency.

Wang Dashan was a hunter, so he naturally knew how dangerous it was to be on the mountain at night. However, his family hadn't eaten for several days, and he was worried. Seeing his wife take out some fruit put his mind at ease.

Li gave one fruit to everyone, and gave the extra one to Wang Yiyi.

Wang Yiyi didn't stand on ceremony and took it to eat; she was indeed very hungry.

The fruit was sweet and sour, and tasted better than she had imagined. However, after eating two in a row, she seemed even hungrier.

There was still a lot of food inside the RV, but it couldn't be taken out right now.

After finishing the fruit, Wang Dashan decided to gather some firewood nearby, which would not only keep him warm but also keep wild animals away.

Wang Datou and Wang Ertou went along with them.

For a moment, only the mother and her three daughters remained inside the cave.

Wang Yiyi made an excuse to go to the restroom and was about to leave when Li Shi, who was busy tidying up the cave, insisted that she not go out alone and asked Er Ya to accompany her.

Er Ya and Er Tou are twins, both fifteen years old, only one year older than San Ya. At this moment, they are terrified in the deep mountains and forests.

She had barely taken two steps out of the cave entrance when she urged, "Sanya, you can relieve yourself here. I'll watch you."

Wang Yiyi wanted to take some food out of the RV, but Er Ya was watching her, so she couldn't do it. She could only say, "It will smell bad here. No one can stay in the cave later."

Wang Erya thought about it and agreed. Suppressing her fear, she mustered her courage and took her sister a few steps forward.

Seeing Wang Erya's frightened expression, Wang Yiyi still couldn't bear it and stopped after taking a few steps: "Second sister, I'll go behind that tree, you just wait for me here."

Wang Erya glanced in the direction Wang Yiyi pointed, and saw the tree right there. She nodded and said, "Just call me if you need anything."

Wang Yi nodded, walked behind the big tree, and with a flash of consciousness, entered the space and opened the door of the RV.

She went straight to the refrigerator. Inside the freezer compartment were five loaves of bread, five bottles of milk, a hot pot base, and dozens of eggs.

In the apocalypse, humans turned into zombies, while the poultry gained freedom. Eggs were often found, and Wang Yi would pick them up every time she saw them. Over time, she accumulated quite a few in her refrigerator.

The freezer contained frozen buns, steamed bread, dumplings, frozen vegetables, a box of beef rolls, a box of lamb rolls, and a block of tofu. She had gone to great lengths to find these, but hadn't been able to bring herself to eat them.

Next to the refrigerator were several buckets of water, four and a half bags of rice, some compressed biscuits, and instant noodles.

Sometimes it takes half a month to find a place to resupply. Wang Yiyi always likes to stock up on food wherever she goes. She just came out of a supermarket warehouse, and the supplies are still quite plentiful.

Steamed buns and mantou need to be heated, and other things also take time to make. Er Ya is still waiting.

Wang Yi didn't have time to look at the other things carefully. She grabbed a piece of bread and started eating it, then drank a bottle of milk.

Just as they finished eating and drinking, they heard Er Ya's voice outside, as if she was looking for her.

Wang Yi looked closely and saw Wang Erya right in front of her, but she acted as if she didn't see her at all.

Has her entire body entered the spatial dimension?

She had entered the body consciously the two times before, and she thought that only consciousness could enter.

She wiped her mouth and left the space.

Er Ya breathed a sigh of relief when she saw her: "Where did you go? I looked everywhere and couldn't find you. You scared me to death."

Wang Yiyi laughed and said, "I'm right here, you just didn't see me."

Er Ya didn't mind, and pulled her hand towards the cave: "Let's go back quickly, Mother must be getting impatient."

Wang Yiyi didn't struggle and obediently followed Er Ya back to the cave.

Not long after the two returned, Wang Dashan came back with Datou and Ertou.

Soon, a fire was lit inside the cave.

The family was both frightened and hungry, and unable to sleep, so they sat around the fire.

After Wang Yiyi had eaten and drunk her fill, she felt drowsy from the fire. Seeing this, Li Shi simply let her rest her head on her lap, and she quickly fell asleep.

Wang Dashan suddenly spoke up: "I'll go home tomorrow."

Wang Yiyi woke up immediately. Over the years, she had developed a habit of not letting herself actually enter a deep sleep.

She looked at Wang Dashan with some surprise, as did the others.

Their home is located on the border between the two countries, and there is currently a war raging. Why would they go back?

Li immediately objected: "Husband, what's the point of going back? Are we just going to get arrested again?"

Wang Datou chimed in, "Dad, there are definitely still people from Dayong there. Wouldn't we be sending ourselves to our deaths if we went back now?"

Wang Dashan looked at his wife, then at his children, who were all filled with fear and unease. He knew all too well that now was not the time to go back.

He sighed and said to Li, "The war started so suddenly, there's no time to pack anything. I'll be right back, otherwise, will the children go hungry behind us?"

Li's face turned pale, and she couldn't bring herself to object. Yes, they had been taken away suddenly, without a penny to their name or any of their land.

She remained silent for a long while before saying, "Husband, I'll go back with you."

He then instructed Da Tou, "Da Tou, take good care of your younger siblings. Your father and I are going home for a while. We'll find a safe place tomorrow, and you can wait for us there."

Wang Dashan glanced at Li Shi, did not object, and added, "If we don't return in ten days, you can take your younger brother and sister to the east."

This is his last words.

Wang Daya immediately burst into tears: "Father, Mother, our family must stay together. If you want to go back, we will go with you."

Wang Datou, Ertou, and Erya all chimed in.

Upon hearing Da Ya's words, Li Shi also burst into tears, and even Wang Da Shan shed tears. The whole family embraced and wept bitterly.

Wang Yiyi watched from the side and couldn't help but roll her eyes.

Are these people out of their minds? What treasures do they have that are worth risking their lives to go back to? Besides, two adults lost their lives, leaving behind a bunch of children. How can they expect them to survive in this chaotic world?

The family is able-bodied, and Wang Dashan can even hunt. If they find a place where there is no war, how could the family not survive?

Seeing that she had almost stopped crying, Wang Yiyi spoke up: "Why do we have to go back? Our family can find anywhere; we're able-bodied, we won't starve to death, will we?"
