I am a dragon

By the time I got up, Jiang Ruxue was already gone.

I quickly found my phone and called her.

"What happened to your sister-in-law?"

Jiang Ruxue's tone was urgent: "I'm going to the school."

With that, she hung up the phone.

A sense of foreboding welled up inside me. I got dressed and rushed out without even making my bed.

Ning Meng, who was behind me, asked, "Lu Feng, where are you going?"

I ignored her and went straight out the door.

When I got downstairs, Jiang Ruxue was nowhere to be seen. Just as I was about to leave the community, someone grabbed my arm.

"Lu Feng, you don't want to work here anymore, do you? You're always absent!"

Zhou Mingyuan suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

I was in a hurry to find Jiang Ruxue, so I turned to Zhou Mingyuan and said, "I've already asked the company for leave."

"I've checked with the company, and Director Du didn't receive your leave slip at all."

"You can ask Mr. Xu."

"Why should I ask General Manager Xu? I only have the right to supervise you, not the right to investigate. I will report your continued absence to the company."

"Whatever."

I threw down those words and ran outside, just in time to see Jiang Ruxue get into a taxi.

She used to have a car, but it was towed away by the court, so she had to take a taxi to get around.

I remembered that she was going to school, so I flagged down a taxi, and the taxi quickly drove towards Cotton City University.

I called Jiang Ruxue from the taxi and told her I was behind her.

When we arrived at the entrance of Cotton City University, we saw her just as expected.

"Why are you here?"

"I saw you came in a hurry, so I followed you to check on you."

"Let's go then."

As we walked towards the campus, Jiang Ruxue told me that the debt collectors, Cuntou and Changmao, had come to the school to collect their debts, and the school had asked Jiang Ruxue to handle it.

I followed her inside and saw a man in a sharp suit and frameless glasses sitting behind a large desk.

This man is Zhao Guoqiang, the vice president of Miancheng University. He is probably in his early forties, with a slicked-back hairstyle, and looks very refined.

Zhao Guoqiang saw a smile bloom on Jiang Ruxue's face, and when he saw me behind her, he paused slightly, asking, "And who is this?"

"He is my cousin, Lu Feng," Jiang Ruxue introduced.

I greeted Zhao Guoqiang: "Hello, Principal Zhao!"

"Hello, this young man looks very dashing; he's got a bright future ahead of him," Zhao Guoqiang said politely.

I didn't say anything, just smiled and stood behind Jiang Ruxue.

Jiang Ruxue asked anxiously, "Principal Zhao, the money was borrowed by my husband. I was kept in the dark. Now that my husband has disappeared, I really didn't know..."

"Teacher Jiang, don't get agitated. I know your character." Zhao Guoqiang reached out and pressed down on Jiang Ruxue, signaling her to calm down. He then asked Jiang Ruxue and me to sit on the sofa.

Just then, my phone rang. I took it out and saw that it was Su Ya calling. I didn't answer, put it on silent, and put it on the sofa.

He walked around from behind his desk and sat down next to Jiang Ruxue, saying, "It's really difficult for the school when debt collectors come to the school. They haven't hit anyone or caused any trouble, so we can't call the police."

Jiang Ruxue frowned and said, "Principal Zhao, why did you call me here so early in the morning? Is there something wrong with the school?"

Upon hearing this, Jiang Ruxue immediately raised her head and said happily, "Thank you, Principal Zhao, for speaking up for me."

Zhao Guoqiang has no airs of a leader, making him easy to like.

"I asked a friend to inquire, and the person behind Batong Financial that these two people mentioned is Master Qiao."

Master Qiao?

It's that name again. Both Chen Hu and Xu Lanya have mentioned him. Thinking about his identity, my heart sank.

Jiang Ruxue clearly didn't know who Qiao Liuye was, looking completely bewildered: "Who is Qiao Laoliu? Is he a gangster?"

Zhao Guoqiang pushed up his glasses: "Qiao Laoliu is a gangster who has connections in both the legitimate and underworld circles."

Zhao Guoqiang shook his head: "I don't know about that, but you can consult the court."

I turned to look at Jiang Ruxue. She didn't say a word, her face was pale, her hands were gripping the armrests of the sofa tightly, and she was clenching her teeth.

I touched Jiang Ruxue worriedly. Jiang Ruxue took a deep breath, seemingly trying her best to suppress her emotions.

Zhao Guoqiang asked with concern, "Teacher Jiang, are you alright?"

"Don't worry, I've already asked a friend to contact Master Qiao. I believe they won't bother you anytime soon."

Jiang Ruxue thanked Zhao Guoqiang repeatedly, and Zhao Guoqiang graciously replied that it was nothing to do.

I followed Jiang Ruxue out of the administration building.

"Sister-in-law, this is a big deal. I think you should tell Auntie, otherwise they will blame you."

Despite Jiang Ruxue's beauty, my second aunt often said behind her back that she was selfish and that she was causing the Lin family line to end because she didn't have any children.

Jiang Ruxue shook her head and said, "Let's wait two more days. We haven't figured things out yet, and their arrival would only cause more trouble."

I felt that Jiang Ruxue's words made sense, so I stopped talking.

I had only walked a dozen meters or so from the administration building when I reached into my pocket and realized I'd left my phone in the office.

I told Jiang Ruxue to wait for me where she was, then turned around and walked back quickly. The office door was ajar, and just as I was about to push it open, I heard Zhao Guoqiang making a phone call.

"Jiang Ruxue is about to take the bait..."
