Chapter 23 Fishing at Sea

Lu Chenyan seemed to have cast some kind of spell, constantly raising his fishing rod and catching fish that were getting bigger and more expensive each time. He was surrounded by fellow anglers who all gave him a thumbs up, saying he was incredibly lucky.

Wen Jia had never fished before, but she was still excited.

Lu Chenyan seems to be omnipotent.

At work, he is a shrewd and capable business elite. In his leisure time, he can play volleyball, climb snow-capped mountains, row boats, dive, and is even better at fishing than others.

Wen Jia couldn't help but cheer for him.

This finally drew the ire of Professor Fang, who was standing nearby.

She was about to turn around and say sorry when she saw Lu Chenyan chuckle and say disdainfully:

"Why blame others for being noisy when you're not as skilled as them, sir?"

Professor Fang was so angry that he didn't even want the fishing rod in his hand anymore and threw it aside.

"Young man, did you use some kind of secret bait? All the fish are going to your place."

"Is there?"

Lu Chenyan pointed to the bait tray in front of him, which contained only small, unwanted fish, just like the others. Professor Fang immediately felt embarrassed.

His wife, however, chuckled.

"Young man, you're so skilled, could you teach us? It's our first time fishing."

Lu Chenyan chuckled, not bothering to hide anything, and leaned over to pick up Professor Fang's fishing rod to take a look, while also pointing out his problems.

They also taught him how to attach the weight, how to find the lowest point on the ground, and how to watch the float...

"I never imagined that there was so much to learn about fishing! It's almost as good as doing academic research," Mrs. Fang exclaimed repeatedly.

Professor Fang was completely convinced after hearing this.

"Shall I try again?"

Lu Chenyan gestured for him to proceed.

Madam Fang strolled over to look at Wen Jia's fish box.

"Wow, you caught so many! Your boyfriend is amazing."

Wen Jia immediately replied:

"Auntie, the boatman said we can cook fish on board. We can't possibly eat all this fish anyway. Would you like to join us for lunch?"

"OK."

Mrs. Fang immediately perked up.

"You don't know, I don't like fishing, but I love eating fish. I was tricked onto this boat by Lao Fang, who said he'd let me eat my fill of fresh fish. And what happened? Humph, nothing at all. He's all talk and no action, just a liar. Girl, your boyfriend is much better—handsome, considerate, and a good fisherman too."

Madam Fang secretly glanced at Lu Chenyan a few more times.

She noticed the young couple as soon as she boarded the ship.

The man is handsome and the woman is beautiful.

Most importantly, her boyfriend is so thoughtful. He prepared sun-protective clothing and a hat for her, and even personally applied sunscreen to her. Plus, he's an excellent fisherman. I've never seen such an angelic man before.

That physique, that height, those muscles...

"My name is Wen Jia." Wen Jia reached out her hand.

Madam Fang immediately snapped out of her daze, smiled sheepishly, and said, "Su Qin."

"Aunt Su," Wen Jia called out sweetly, "It's too sunny here, why don't we go sit over there? I can reapply my sunscreen."

"Perfect timing, I'll get some too."

The two left affectionately.

Professor Fang's fish has arrived too, and he shouts excitedly.

"Old Su, Old Su, the fish is here! The fish is here!"

But when I turned around, my wife was already far away, cuddling with the girl next door, applying sunscreen to each other.

Professor Fang was a novice, and the fish he hooked was too big. He used all his strength, and his face turned red from straining. Just when he was about to give up, a hand reached out from the side and very firmly helped him stabilize the fishing rod.

"You need to use your waist muscles. Don't pull it too tight, or it will break the line. You need to find the right balance."

Lu Chenyan took Professor Fang's place, talking as he helped him hang up the phone.

Professor Fang looked at him and laughed.

"Thank you, young man."

"Hehe," Lu Chenyan replied with a smile, "I wouldn't call myself an expert, I just like to have fun. I can tell that you, Uncle, also like to have fun."

"Yes, I'm about to retire! I'm thinking of developing my personal hobbies. My husband, Lao Su, loves to eat fish, so he's learning to fish."

"Uncle, you're a devoted husband."

"Haha, no, no, I can't compare to you young people, you're so enthusiastic."

The fish was finally pulled up; it was a rare, large grouper.

Professor Fang shouted excitedly, grabbed the fish gripper, and ran straight to his wife.

"Old Su, Old Su, look! A giant grouper! A giant grouper! The first fish I ever caught was a giant grouper! Hahahaha!"

Seeing his enthusiasm, it's as if he wants to hug a fish and run around the boat.

Su Qin was also shouting with joy. The two of them together had a jump of over a hundred, and they were jumping like children.

Wenjia took photos of them and the fish as souvenirs.

Su Qin posted on his WeChat Moments.

She said excitedly, "Jiajia, we're going to eat our giant grouper later. Auntie will cook it herself. You don't know, Auntie is an excellent fish cook."

"Sure, I'll help you."

Lu Chenyan gave Wen Jia a wink.

Wen Jia smiled knowingly.

Su Qin was not exaggerating; the fish she prepared was indeed delicious, and Wen Jia wished she could swallow even the fish bones.

"Aunt Su, your cooking is amazing."

Wen Jia was generous with his praise.

Professor Fang also enjoyed the meal very much, saying, "It would have been even better if there had been some wine."

Lu Chenyan immediately chimed in, "Getting wine is easy, Uncle. What kind of wine do you want? I'll get it for you."

Professor Fang didn't stand on ceremony and gave his name.

Lu Chenyan immediately made a phone call, and soon the captain personally delivered two bottles of wine.

"The captain is my friend, what a coincidence, he also loves this drink."

With the wine, the atmosphere at the table gradually became more lively.

Lu Chenyan seized the opportunity to say:

"Nearshore fishing isn't fun; if you want to fish, you have to go to the deep sea."

"Is deep-sea fishing any more fun?" Professor Fang immediately perked up.

"Yes. Uncle, are you going? I'll call you next time I go."

Professor Fang almost immediately took out his phone and opened it, "Come on, add me on WeChat."

Wen Jia and Su Qin also added each other on WeChat and made plans to go shopping together next time.

Professor Fang added Lu Chenyan on WeChat and browsed through his Moments, which were completely blank.

Lu Chenyan hurriedly introduced himself, "I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Lu Chenyan."

"Xiao Lu, what do you do for a living?" Su Qin asked curiously.

"Do whatever makes money."

"Oh, you're in the investment business." Su Qin looked knowing and leaned forward. "So what's making money lately? Tell me so I can have some ideas."

"The company used to invest in real estate, but the market has been sluggish in recent years. During the transformation, we have successively invested in several emerging industries."

Lu Chenyan mentioned a few.

Su Qin immediately became interested when he heard him mention new energy sources.

"I understand, my husband is like that..."

"Ahem!" Professor Fang suddenly coughed a few times without warning. Su Qin immediately shut his mouth with an embarrassed expression.

Lu Chenyan pretended not to see it, "Speaking of new energy, my girlfriend is more knowledgeable."

"Really? Miss Wen is researching this too?" Su Qin asked, looking surprised.

"No, no, it's just something I did randomly for work," Wen Jia waved her hands repeatedly.

Professor Fang, sitting opposite him, squinted and said, "Tell me about it."

Lu Chenyan silently gave Wen Jia an approving look. Wen Jia thought for a moment and then began to share her views on the industry's development and some of her own insights.

Professor Fang listened while eating fish, neither shaking his head nor nodding.

After Wen Jia finished speaking, he said:

"Did you study this in college?"

Wen Jia shook her head. "No, I studied finance."

"It's not bad that you can say all this without having studied it. However, there are a few things you're thinking incorrectly."

Wen Jia humbly asked, "Where?"

For the next two hours, Professor Fang launched into a lecture, revealing his true professorial nature and once he started talking, he couldn't stop.

Wen Jia wished she could take out her notebook and write everything down.

Lu Chenyan gave her a reassuring look.

Dusk, the sun goes down.

The sky was dyed fiery red by the setting sun.

Professor Fang was then surprised to realize how quickly time had passed, and slapped his thigh, exclaiming:

"Oh dear, I came here to fish! Come on, let's catch the late-night catch!"

As he spoke, he pulled Su Qin toward the stern of the boat.

Wen Jia was still savoring the moment, silently remembering Professor Fang's words. Lu Chenyan gave her a bear hug and pulled her forward.

"Come on, I've been bombarded with knowledge for two hours, my brain is about to explode. Let's relax."

The fishing boat returned to port at 10 p.m.

Lu Chenyan chased after him with a bottle of wine, "Uncle, here's your wine."

We drank one bottle on the boat, and there's one left.

"How could I possibly accept this?! You're offering to drink and take things at the same time." Despite saying this, Professor Fang couldn't help but smile.

"Since I ate your fish, I should pay for the drink. Next time, let's go deep-sea fishing together, bring some wine, and have a good time."

Lu Chenyan personally placed the wine into Professor Fang's car.

Wen Jia and Su Qin waved goodbye.

In the car, Su Qin looked at the bottle of wine and said, "This wine isn't cheap, are you just going to take it like that?"

Professor Fang chuckled, "I spent the whole day acting with them, this is my payment. I didn't originally want to deal with them, but I really..."

Lu Chenyan is charming.

The young man was also a skilled fisherman, and the lessons he taught him were truly enlightening.

Wen Jia was indeed talented; as a layman, he could talk about new energy in a very logical and eloquent way. He found many of the questions she raised to be more insightful than those of his students. The more they talked, the more they clicked and the more excited they became.

Especially now, the domestic market is not very optimistic about the utilization and monetization of new energy, generally believing that it is a project with a low rate of return on investment, a money-burning project with no future. However, very few people can take a long-term view.

Wenjia is a good choice.

Capital is driven by profit, but Wen Jia sees further ahead, not only thinking about how to make money, but also about environmental protection and future generations.

My love for talent is irresistible.

It's a pity they weren't my students.

"You, I think you're just greedy," Su Qin said, pointing at her husband.

Professor Fang laughed heartily in the car.
