Because she was addicted

Chapter 2: Not the younger brother, but the boss.

The man behind her wore a black bespoke suit, exuding an aura of coldness and nobility. His hair was meticulously styled, every single strand carefully combed back, and he remained obediently in his place.

Gone is the unrestrained laughter, and gone is that lazy, carefree attitude.

He was completely different from the handsome, roguish young man by Erhai Lake.

Yet they are clearly the same person.

The same eyebrows, the same features, even the same voice.

The man seemed not to recognize her, brushing past her and walking straight inside, his voice chillingly cold.

"Put the project investigation and research report, relevant materials from the bidding meeting, weekly reports from each department, and financial statements on my desk in three minutes."

Yi Mo let out a wail and buried her head in a frantic search.

It was still early summer, but the air in the office felt like it had instantly dropped to minus forty degrees Celsius. Everyone was frozen in place, afraid to even breathe.

The man walked to the office door, suddenly stopped, and turned to stare at Wen Jia.

"You report."

Now it was Wen Jia's turn to be dumbfounded.

She reported?

What is she reporting?

She's been on leave for half a month and doesn't know anything!

It was clearly an attempt to make things difficult for her.

And why is he here? Isn't he a young tour guide who just graduated from university by Erhai Lake? Shouldn't he never appear in front of her again? Or is he not the person she knows, but just looks like him? Is she seeing things?

Countless thoughts raced through Wen Jia's mind. She wished she could faint on the spot, wake up, and find that it was all a dream.

"Jiajia." Yimo blinked her eyes to show her sympathy.

"Isn't the new leader called Owen?" Wen Jia's voice was dry and hoarse.

That's his English name; his Chinese name is Lu Chenyan.

With a loud bang, something in my mind collapsed, the huge sound raising a cloud of dust, leaving only ruins.

My heart, which had been hanging in suspense, was completely dead.

Her younger brother, whom she slept with in Dali, unexpectedly became her boss.

Three minutes later.

Wen Jia, who knew nothing about the new project, gave a report with a stiff upper lip, but naturally it was all utter nonsense.

Lu Chenyan sat behind his spacious desk, his slender fingers flipping through reports. The sound of the papers turning and rubbing together made the atmosphere in the large office even more tense.

"Secretary Li told me that Secretary Wen graduated from the prestigious Ocean University. Not only is she beautiful and outstanding, but she is also the best among all the secretaries in terms of professional skills, so she specially kept her position for me."

Lu Chenyan looked up from a pile of reports and project documents, his sharp gaze shooting at Wen Jia like a knife blade. Wen Jia felt as if that knife had been cutting her neck countless times.

"That's it?"

Lu Chenyan smiled and gently tapped the report in front of him with his neatly trimmed fingertips.

Yi Mo, who was standing to the side, could no longer stand still.

She wrote the report, but Wen Jia took the blame.

She opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end, she only opened her mouth and didn't say anything.

President Lu was absolutely terrifying today.

Her legs were trembling just standing there.

But Mr. Lu wasn't like this just a few days ago! He's strict about work, but he's reasonable and very gentlemanly. Once, when she was moving documents, he even held the elevator door for her!

But what's going on today?

It's as if they have a grudge against Wen Jia.

That's completely unreasonable!

What's going on?!

The two had only met for less than ten minutes.

Wen Jia knew that anything she said at this time would be wrong.

Lu Chenyan was probably after her.

At times like these, the more you try to evade and make excuses, the worse it gets. It's like a fish caught in a fishing net; the more it struggles, the tighter it will become.

She lowered her head and readily agreed.

"Mr. Lu, I took a two-week leave, and my work has fallen far behind. I'm sorry, I'll catch up today, and I promise I won't hold anyone back in the future."

Lu Chenyan's hand gripping the pen suddenly tightened.

Seeing her take the initiative to apologize and adopt such a humble attitude, I felt like I had energy but nowhere to vent it.

He couldn't let out his anger; he stubbornly held it back inside.

His face darkened.

He threw the pen on the table, slumped back in his chair, and without answering her, stared at her intently.

In 20-degree weather, she was wearing such a short skirt, her long, straight, fair legs showing through. Two deep indentations marked her slender ankles, and the whiteness of her insteps revealed even the blue veins and meridians. Nude high heels made her appear tall and graceful.

The scene from that night by Erhai Lake reappeared before his eyes.

These legs were wrapped tightly around his waist like snakes.

Under the gentle moonlight, Wen Jia nestled in his arms, crying in a suppressed yet heart-wrenching way.

For no apparent reason, Lu Chenyan's eye sockets started to hurt.

He pushed off with his foot, turning the chair to the side.

"The skirt is too short, I'll change into pants tomorrow."

"?"

Wen Jia froze, looked down at herself, and thought, "Is it short?" Her standard business suit covered her knees perfectly.

Her long, slender calves were exposed, looking neat and beautiful!

What a scoundrel! Doesn't he have any taste?

"Yes, Mr. Lu." Wen Jia was as docile as a puppy at this moment.

"Revised report, give it to me before you leave work."

"Yes, Mr. Lu."

"Notify the relevant departments that a meeting will be held in fifteen minutes."

"Yes, Mr. Lu."

As Wen Jia walked out of Lu Chenyan's office, she let out a heavy sigh of relief when she heard a muffled thud from inside, which sounded like a fist slamming onto the table.

"I'm so sorry, Jiajia. It's all my fault that you got scolded."

Yi Mo looked guilty.

"No, that's not true. It's my own problem. Let's go, hurry up and call a meeting."

Working in collaboration with Yi Mo, Wen Jia tirelessly notified all departments to come up for meetings, without taking a single break.

The other secretaries all cast sympathetic glances their way.

People attending the meeting came up one after another in the corridor.

Taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, Shen Yu suddenly walked over to Wen Jia and, pretending to discuss work, quietly asked:

"Jiajia, where have you been for the past two weeks? You didn't answer my calls, you blocked me on WeChat, and no one was home at your house. When I asked Yimo, she just said you were on vacation. Jiajia, are you alright?"

His tone was full of worry and tenderness.

If it weren't for the fact that the scene at the hotel was so stimulating and shocking that Wen Jia could never forget it, she would have even wondered if she had a mental problem and was having delusions.

Could Shen Yu, whose eyes are more affectionate than a dog's, really be that kind of person?

"Mr. Shen, the meeting is about to start."

Wen Jia didn't want to say anything more to him, so she packed up her computer and documents and left.

Shen Yu quickly caught up. When other people greeted him, he stopped and nodded to them before immediately catching up again.

"Jiajia, I'm so worried about you. What happened to you? I almost called the police because I thought you were missing."

Wen Jia suddenly stopped and turned around, saying:

"Mr. Shen, this is the company. If you keep following me like this, people will start to speculate. Mr. Shen, I'm more worried than you are. Please keep your distance."

"Jiajia, what's wrong with you?"

"What are you talking about?"

Before Shen Yu could finish speaking, Lu Chenyan suddenly said something, revealing that he had somehow appeared behind the two of them.

Wen Jia jumped in fright and quickly stepped aside to let him pass, clutching her laptop. Lu Chenyan, however, showed no intention of going in. He stood by the door, turning to look at Wen Jia and then at Shen Yu.

"Oh, I heard that Secretary Wen went to Dali on vacation and they were talking about the famous people there," Shen Yu said with a smile, changing his expression.

Shen Yu is 180cm tall, which is already considered tall and large. But standing next to Lu Chenyan, who is 188cm tall, he looks a head shorter. When he speaks, he tilts his head slightly, smiles, and unconsciously exudes a hint of ingratiation.

Before, Wen Jia only thought Shen Yu was handsome and considerate, and that everything about him was good. But now, comparing the two, she felt that he had a sleazy and ingratiating look on his face, and Wen Jia felt uncomfortable.

"Really? Secretary Wen went alone?"

Lu Chenyan's gaze drifted towards Wen Jia.

Wen Jia felt a chill run down her spine. "Yes."

"Not with your boyfriend?"

Lu Chenyan's gaze flickered almost imperceptibly over Shen Yu's body.

Shen Yu immediately laughed nervously, "Mr. Lu, what are you joking about? Secretary Wen is still single."

As he spoke, he casually turned around and greeted a department director who had just passed by.

Wen Jia's fake smile faltered slightly.
