On the way back

[Trevor's Perspective]

As the shadows fell to dusk, the Lord of Shadows walked and wrote his final story.

Little Aisha, who was standing beside her, asked her father a question.

"Dad, what are you writing?"

"The final chapter of The Shadow Heroes: The Fall of the Shadow King."

"Huh? The final chapter? Is the Shadow Lord going to die?"

"Well, I might get beaten to death. It's better to write it down in advance so that outsiders don't make things up."

Upon hearing the news of her father's death, Aisha cried out happily, "Can I see him?!"

"certainly!"

She slept and felt much better; her eyes were no longer swollen, and her hair was neatly styled.

Little Aisha slept very comfortably, but I, the King, didn't sleep at all.

Because of Senis's matter...

Then I let little Aisha ride on my shoulders. She held my head with both hands, rested her chin on the top of my head, and then looked down at the messy things written in my notebook, and then read them aloud in a low voice.

Under the Twilight

As dusk fell, the Lord of Shadows finally met his end.

Trevor had never been so embarrassed...

...behind them, there was only endless darkness.

Although the Shadow Lord is always surrounded by shadows, that darkness is not where the Shadow Lord wants to stay now.

He crawled forward unwillingly, hoping to return to that warm and happy place.

As darkness approached, Wang's mind was filled with uncontrollable flashes of happiness.

I have persevered in the darkness, just to protect those warm memories, and I have kept going until now.

At this moment, the mother who had brought the Shadow King to the brink of death smiled.

(PS: Maybe he was amused by the king's sob story.)

On that first night they met, fate led her to take in this child and become his mother, a bond that continues to this day.

Because the king deceived her, and when the lie was exposed, it was all over.

-------------

Aisha patted my head from above.

"Dad...you're not the one who deserves to be beaten. And even if she did hit you, she wouldn't kill you, would she?"

"well......"

Wang sighed and did not respond.

He continued writing in his notebook.

--------------

Although the memories are mostly pleasant, a lie is still a lie.

The scene shifts to a set of steps.

Trevor collapsed here, powerless; it was all over.

Aisha, who was in the distance, seemed to have anticipated something. She covered her mouth to herself, trying her best not to laugh out loud...

In his final moments, the Shadow Lord suddenly saw Senis approaching and standing before him.

Just like the day I first saw her.

And the king's last words were...

--------------

"What is it?"

Wang stopped writing and thought for a long time.

The last four words were written.

--------------

"Coo coo...caw caw..."

After that sound, the Lord of Shadows passed away.

[The Curtain Falls]

--------------

After Aisha finished looking up, she lay on top of my head and burst out laughing.

She laughed so hard she was shaking, her legs clamped around my neck, almost suffocating me and causing my premature death.

"What kind of last words are 'clucking and quacking'?! It's impossible to cry like that!"

"I just want everyone to be happier."

"Yes, I'm really happy."

She laughed for a long time.

After she finished laughing, she bent down from above, turned her face upside down, and looked into my eyes with her blue eyes, just like mine.

"I'm not going to stand by and watch... No matter what, I'll be with Dad. If we get beaten, we'll get beaten together!"

"Excellent! Truly my beloved daughter!"

Her reddish-brown bangs hung down, taking on a warm golden hue as the setting sun shone through.

I put away my notebook and went with her to face the approaching night.

Aisha was sleeping soundly until the setting sun shone obliquely on her face, waking her up.

But how could I possibly fall asleep peacefully?

Because of my sudden escape, I have no idea how to face Senis, nor do I know what the situation is like over there...

But you always have to go home.

And there are only two possibilities, right?

Senis either knows or she doesn't.

Therefore, we need to make contingency plans for these two scenarios...

First, let's assume that Senis is unaware of this, and Paul hasn't confessed either:

Then just say Aisha is her and Lilia's child, and get a beating for it. Like Aisha said, Senis isn't going to kill her...

However, if Senis saw that Aisha had the same green eyes as Paul...

She's smart enough to figure out what's going on, right?

This is so obvious...

So, while looking at the sleeping Aisha, I, the king, came up with a plan.

After placing Aisha into the Reality Marble, I changed the color of her iris.

This is an experiment I conducted when I was a child, hoping that my eyes could turn red like the Shadow Lord's at crucial moments.

Although I didn't get the desired result at that time, I had already figured out the principle behind the different colors of the iris.

The main difference lies in the quantity, type, and distribution of melanin in the iris stroma and pigment epithelium.

More melanin results in a color ranging from brown to black.

With less melanin, short-wavelength blue light is scattered, resulting in the blue of myself, Senis, and the witch.

Aisha's green is more complex because it is a combination of scattered blue light and yellow/brown lipofuscin/melanin.

In short, it didn't take me long to turn the eyes of the sleeping Aisha into the same blue as mine.

Looking up at Aisha, who was staring blankly at me, I was thinking to myself: Now that I've given you six eyes like me, Senis probably won't be able to tell right away, right?

My daughter and I might even be able to perform the Su Nuo ritual together.

When that time comes, my father will be severely injured and his magic power will be exhausted, leaving him like a candle flickering in the wind, and my beloved daughter will be no better off.

But the big boss on the other side is the same.

Finally, I chanted: "The Eye of Wisdom in the Twilight Phase, release [Crimson Emperor Azure Star]."

The obedient daughter Aisha chants: Phase Jackfruit Pillar of Light, releasing [Honkai Domain].

Finally, they chanted together: "Between the Nine-Tailed Polarized Crow and the Statement of the Interior and Exterior, we combine the Crimson Emperor Azure Star and the Collapse Domain to unleash the ultimate killing move [Nuclear Magic]."

It will be so cool!

But after thinking about these happy things, bad things happen next.

Another scenario...

Assuming Senis already knows the truth:

Then...

I have absolutely no idea what to do...

But at least...

Let Senis decide for herself...

No matter what, I'm on Senis's side.

【after a while】

I saw several jesters performing a comedy.

The actor who plays the clown is Paul the Beast.

The other animal trainer was that bastard Keith, and the animal he trained was the dwarf Tarhand...

Paul was tied up in the street.

With his hands tied behind his back and his knees on the stone floor, he was tightly bound by a thick hemp rope.

Keith stood behind him, one hand on his shoulder, as if escorting a prisoner.

And Tarhand, that dwarf gay man, was standing in front of Paul, punching him in the face again and again...

Paul the Clown was beaten black and blue without saying a word.

His left eye socket was bruised, his mouth was split, and blood from his nose smeared half his face as he let fists rain down on him.

"Seneca! Don't be angry! We'll help you beat him up! Don't be angry!"

The scene was rather comical.

Even if Paul knelt down, Tarhand was only about the same height as him, making the angle of his punch awkward.

Moreover, he clearly wasn't holding back at all.

Every blow was real, like venting something that had been building up for a long time. They were laughing as they hit each other, as if they had a personal grudge.

But after a brief moment of joy, my heart sank.

It seems Senis knows.

I haven't seen her since; she's probably hiding away, sulking, and crying.

Paul and his group were probably playing the victim, begging for forgiveness or something similar.

Tarhand beat him up, possibly out of "righteous indignation" as a former teammate, or perhaps because he himself was also seething with anger.

What should I do?

Should we kneel down together too?

To be honest, I have no experience in this area.

Just as I was hesitating, Senis appeared.

Her face was streaked with tears, her eyes were red, and the tip of her nose was red as well.

Lilia was with her.

Lilia had a red, swollen handprint on her cheek, with the shape of the five fingers clearly still visible on her skin.

She kept her head down, didn't speak, and walked half a step behind Senis.

Seeing the scene before her, Aisha unconsciously hugged my head even tighter.

Senis didn't look at Tarhand, Keith, or me.

She walked straight up to Paul, raised her leg, and kicked his black dragon hard.

Because of the phantom pain coming from my groin, I unconsciously tightened my grip on Aisha's calf.

So cruel!

Paul was even more ruthless!

He only let out a muffled groan and swayed slightly, but Keith pressed down on his shoulder and prevented him from falling.

He didn't even make a sound!

Great!

If you're so capable, go fight the final battle in Shinjuku!

Then......

Senis walked towards me.

I stand here, not daring to move an inch.

Senis walked up to me and stopped.

Her face was very close to mine.

I'm about the same height as her now...

At such close range, I could clearly see that the tear stains on her face were still there, and her eyes were still red.

But I couldn't understand her expression.

It doesn't seem like anger.

It doesn't seem like just sadness.

It's something deeper, something more tiring...

She looked at me for a while until Paul and the others gathered around, then lowered her head and said softly, "Let's find a secluded place to hold the meeting. Don't embarrass yourselves in public."
