Falling into the rain

Chapter 11 Grown Up, Wilder Heart

Wen Huaixu's breath seemed to catch in his throat; he couldn't believe Yu Tingyu would say such a thing.

She said the place where she had lived for nine years was not her home.

That's not her home.

Is there any place with Zhao Xiao?

Then what is he?

Wen Huaixu was certain that this was the most disobedient Yu Tingyu had ever been since he had known her.

He felt as if he couldn't control her, yet he had no other way to deal with her; this sense of powerlessness left him feeling deeply helpless.

Wen Huaixu slowly clenched his fist, feeling an urge to grab Zhao Xiao and beat him up.

It was all because of him that Yu Tingyu was led astray.

He felt it was his responsibility to straighten out the wrong path that Yu Tingyu was about to take.

"I'll pretend I didn't hear what you said today, and please don't say it again."

Wen Huaixu spoke in a deep, cold voice, then looked away, his gaze falling on the darkness outside the window.

The night was dark and boundless, as if it were about to devour something.

Yu Tingyu refused, shaking her head and repeating, "I want to move out. I can take care of myself."

Heaven knows how much courage she mustered to make this request to Wen Huaixu; she absolutely could not succumb to his authority and give up halfway.

"Yu Tingyu!"

Wen Huaixu could no longer suppress his emotions, glared at her, and uttered her full name.

Yu Tingyu's back trembled slightly involuntarily; this was the first time she could remember him being so angry.

I've long forgotten when I last called her by her full name. We're used to calling her by her nickname "Little Fish," so it felt a bit strange for both of us to suddenly call her by her full name.

Under the blazing lights, Wen Huaixu narrowed his eyes and said in a deep voice, "I'll say this one last time, I don't agree. You'd better stay at home obediently."

His face was ashen, and he was shrouded in gloom, looking quite frightening.

But Yu Tingyu didn't seem afraid of him. She looked directly into Wen Huaixu's eyes, trying hard to suppress the tears welling up in them, her voice trembling yet sharp: "Why not?"

Yu Tingyu couldn't understand it.

She just wanted to move out, so why did it evoke such strong emotions in Wen Huaixu?

It's not like she'll never come back, nor is she getting married right now. She just wants to get away from him and see if she can suppress those dark, unbearable, and irrational thoughts in her heart.

Is this not even acceptable?

Wouldn't he get even angrier if she lost control?

Rather than having Wen Huaixu kick her out, she might as well move out on her own initiative.

What do you think?

Wen Huaixu retorted sharply, his tone icy.

He couldn't fathom the girl's inner thoughts; he only felt a sharp, throbbing pain in his heart. His dark eyes held no trace of gentleness, only seriousness and danger.

As I've grown up, my heart has truly become wild.

"I don't know..." Yu Tingyu said in a hoarse voice, her eyelashes trembling and shedding a wet patch.

She turned her head to the window, her gaze fixed on the deep night, her demeanor radiating stubbornness.

When Wen Huaixu saw the tears sliding down her cheeks, his heart felt like it was being pricked by a needle.

When was the last time Yu Tingyu cried? He couldn't remember.

She cried this time because he wouldn't let her move out, all for the sake of another man.

Wen Huaixu's temples were throbbing wildly, and he closed his eyes weakly.

After a few seconds of silence, he whispered, "Yu Tingyu."

Wen Huaixu gave her a deep look and pointed to the door: "If you dare to step out of the house, don't bother coming back."

He knew exactly why he was angry.

First, Yu Tingyu is in a relationship; second, she is in a relationship but hasn't told me; and third, she's going to live with another man.

Each and every one of these things was evidence of her crimes, and also the reason he lost control.

The man's words echoed in her ears, and Yu Tingyu felt as if she could no longer sit still.

How did it get to such a serious point? She just wanted to live by herself, so why can't she come back?

Yes, yes... She just said this isn't her home.

It's understandable that he's angry.

Yu Tingyu wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, looked up at the back of the figure standing behind her, her eyes filled with a mixture of grievance and confusion.

"it is good."

Her voice was so low it was almost inaudible.

But Huai Xu still heard it, and then came the sound of the door opening.

Aunt Jing was carrying two cups of hangover soup when she came upstairs and saw Yu Tingyu push open the study door and walk straight downstairs.

She asked in surprise, "Miss, where are you going so late?"

Yu Tingyu didn't say anything, went straight downstairs, and disappeared from sight once she stepped out the door.

Seeing this, Aunt Jing hurriedly pushed open the study door and suddenly saw that Wen Huaixu, who was usually as steady as Mount Tai, had his broad shoulders taut and his eyes had lost their usual coldness. His whole body exuded an indescribable sense of fatigue.

Aunt Jing rarely saw him like this, and subconsciously softened her footsteps, saying cautiously, "Second Young Master, Miss just came downstairs..."

Wen Huaixu's brows were constantly furrowed, and his hands, hanging at his sides, clenched and unclenched repeatedly, exuding gloom and hostility.

Although Aunt Jing didn't know what had just happened, she knew that the two must have had an argument. She said with concern, "Miss is still young. You should talk to her about it properly. Don't be so harsh."

Yes.

She's so young, how did she learn to live with a man?

They remain so stubborn, obstinate, and unrepentant.

Wen Huaixu lowered his eyes and looked down through the floor-to-ceiling window, where he saw a petite yet stubborn figure.

What if you get sick while dressed so lightly?

The hangover soup remained untouched on the table until it cooled down.

The ashtray was almost full of ash, and the grayish-white smoke in the study lingered continuously.

Wen Huaixu remained motionless in the same position after Yu Tingyu left, until a phone rang.

"Mr. Wen, Miss has arrived at the school."

Wang Hang's voice came through. The car he had arranged had been following Yu Tingyu's car, and he watched her walk into the dormitory building.

The school had always reserved a place for Yu Tingyu to rest, where she would usually take a short nap when she was tired from practicing the piano, but she had never stayed overnight before.

Wen Huaixu took a drag of his cigarette, the smoke rising and obscuring the emotions in his eyes.

His voice was deep and hoarse: "Understood."

After hanging up the phone, Wen Huaixu slumped down and tugged at his collar, as if he couldn't breathe.

My mind was filled with the image of Yu Tingyu's stubborn face with tears in her eyes.

He hadn't intended to be so harsh, but he simply couldn't control himself.

He rarely loses his composure like this.

From childhood to adulthood, no matter what happened, he was always calm and composed in the face of danger. Only when facing Yu Tingyu did he truly feel at a loss, as if nothing he did was right.

One cigarette after another was lit and extinguished in the cigarette pack, and the embers between Wen Huaixu's fingers never stopped burning, as if he wanted to smoke all the cigarettes he would ever smoke in this one night.

He didn't move and just sat in the study all night.
