"Bastard! Let me go! Waaah... Ah! No, uh—"

Lin Zhiyao's back was ramrod straight, her pretty face was flushed, her eyelids were half-closed, and her eyelashes trembled violently.

"What a dishonest little cat."

Shen Jin's hot, slightly damp breath lingered on her neck, his lips and tongue pecking and kissing her incessantly. "But your husband won't lie to you. Next time, if your husband finds out you want to go back, your husband will kill you."

At the end of December, Boston was blanketed in snow.

Shen Jin parked the Cayenne in front of a two-story villa, turned off the engine, and glanced at his phone.

A message popped up from a friend: "Just take a look for me, I'll be right back, please, Ash God!!!"

Shen Jin pushed open the car door without any expression.

The wind, carrying snowflakes, rushed towards him. He raised his hand to pull up the collar of his coat, and his leather shoes crunched as they stepped through the fresh snow.

This is an upscale neighborhood, so the real estate agent left the gate open for an open house in advance, and there's no need to worry about security.

He pushed the door open and went inside; the room was specially heated with radiators and underfloor heating.

The living room is spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a snow-covered courtyard, and the wooden floor has a brand-new finish.

Shen Jin glanced around briefly. The layout was nice, and the decoration was simple and neat. He took out his phone, just about to send a message to his friend saying "It's alright," when he heard a noise coming from the entrance hall.

The door was pushed open again.

A young girl walked in, dragging a suitcase.

She was wearing a simple, plain off-white down jacket, with a scarf wrapped around her chin. Her nose and cheeks were pink from the cold, and her eyelashes trembled slightly, covered with snowflakes that quickly melted as the heating was turned on, wetting her already thick, dark eyelashes into strands.

The girl entered the house, first stamping the snow off her feet, then looking up and around. Her almond-shaped eyes were round and bright, making her extremely cute.

Shen Jin paused slightly, holding the phone between his fingers.

The girl had a pure and innocent look, with features as clean as the moon after being washed by snow. Her down jacket was not fully zipped up, revealing a gray sweater underneath, which clung to her curvaceous figure.

Her waist was very thin, and the curve of her chest was tightly wrapped in the fabric, with her full waist and hips accentuated by the jeans.

She probably didn't expect anyone to be in the room. When her eyes met Shen Jin's, her eyelashes trembled, showing a hint of fear.

"Hello," she said softly, "Excuse me... are you also here to look at houses?"

Shen Jin stared at her for two seconds.

Lin Zhiyao felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze. The pink blush on her cheeks deepened, and she lowered her eyes, her fingers gripping the suitcase handle until her knuckles turned white.

"Mm." Shen Jin locked his phone and put it in his coat pocket. "You too?"

"Yes, I'm looking for an apartment nearby." Lin Zhiyao pursed her lips. "The agent said I could view apartments today, so I came."

Shen Jin didn't reply, his gaze shifting from her eyelashes to the snow-soaked wheels of her suitcase behind her.

This place is quite a distance from the subway station; dragging a suitcase here, you'll probably get quite cold.

"The heating here is alright," Shen Jin commented casually.

"Yeah, it's pretty warm in here." Lin Zhiyao smiled shyly at him, then looked down and opened her phone's notes app. "I'll just take a quick look around, I won't bother you."

After saying that, she pushed the suitcase inside, and Shen Jin's gaze unconsciously followed her.

The hem of her down jacket swayed gently with her movements. She paused in the living room, probably because she was a little hot, and casually took off the down jacket and put it on the sofa. Then she walked to the kitchen doorway and peeked inside.

There was a small window at the top of the stairs, and the sunlight shone in, illuminating Lin Zhiyao's still slightly chubby profile, making her eyelashes stand out clearly.

Shen Jin looked away and turned on his phone.

His friend's profile picture was still in the chat list, so he typed directly: "This place is no good, don't rent it."

My friend replied quickly: "What's wrong?"

"The walls smell damp, the wiring is old, and the attic is poorly lit." Shen Jin said without changing his expression, "You should find another place."

My friend was probably busy, so I didn't ask any more questions.

Shen Jin exited the chat window, found the agent's number, and dialed it.

"I want that two-story house on Cherry Street. The whole thing." He spoke in a low voice, pressing down on the microphone. "Yes, the entire house. Send the contract to my email; I'll sign it online."

He hung up the phone, and Lin Zhiyao happened to come downstairs, looking a little hesitant.

"How is it?" Shen Jin asked.

Lin Zhiyao glanced at him, seemingly surprised that he would take the initiative to speak to her, and her expression showed a slight moment of surprise.

But since she had met someone from her hometown in a foreign country, she couldn't help but feel close to them, so she honestly replied, "I really like the house... The layout is great, and there's plenty of sunlight."

After saying that, Lin Zhiyao looked down at her phone, a little disappointed, "But the price is a bit expensive."

She bit her lower lip, her brows furrowing slightly.

Shen Jin noticed that her phone model was quite old and not a very expensive one.

"My tutoring job is nearby, just a ten-minute walk away," she said, almost to herself. "If I lived further away, my commute might be too late... but the rent here is really..."

Lin Zhiyao didn't finish speaking. She sighed, her brows furrowing slightly, as if she were very troubled.

Shen Jin looked at her profile, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly.

She was quiet when she was troubled and deep in thought, her eyelashes drooping and her lips pressed together until they were slightly pale.

"By the way," Shen Jin said casually, "I just saw a message the agent sent me."

Lin Zhiyao looked up at him.

He said one of the apartments in this building would be on sale soon.

Shen Jin remained expressionless and spoke calmly, showing no sign of lying. "It seems the property has been vacant for a long time, and they're doing a year-end promotion."

Lin Zhiyao's eyes lit up immediately: "Really?"

"Hmm, you can ask him." Shen Jin took out his phone, pretending to glance at it again. "It should be about 30% cheaper."

"Thirty percent? That's so much cheaper?"

Lin Zhiyao's voice rose half an octave, her expression shifting from hesitation to surprise, and the corners of her mouth turned up. "Then I might be able to afford it!"

She quickly sent messages to the agent with her head down, her fingers trembling slightly as she typed, probably because she was happy.

After sending the message, she looked up at Shen Jin with bright, sparkling eyes: "Thank you! If you hadn't told me, I might have missed it."

Shen Jin looked into her eyes, which reflected the snow light outside the French windows, clean and bright.

He hummed in agreement and said, "You're welcome."

Lin Zhiyao smiled at him again, then turned to look at the kitchen cabinet door.

She bent down and opened the drawer to check. The hem of her sweater had been pulled up a bit, revealing a small section of her lower back skin, which was dazzlingly white.

Shen Jin did not look away.

He leaned against the wall, staring in Lin Zhiyao's direction, his fingertips slowly stroking the edge of his phone.

His eyes were filled with that slender, white waist, and the image of the girl smiling earlier flashed through his mind—her lips were rosy, slightly parted, revealing a hint of white teeth; she was incredibly beautiful.

Shen Jin's Adam's apple bobbed slightly.

He wanted to kiss her.

He also wanted to hold the back of her head with his hand, pin her against the wall, and watch her innocent eyes become moist because of him.

I wanted to hear her make soft, barely audible sounds, and even more...

Shen Jin paused for a moment.

After Lin Zhiyao finished inspecting the kitchen, she turned to him and asked, "What do you think of this house? Apart from the price, I'm really satisfied."

If your roommate is Chinese, and such a friendly one at that, your life will definitely be great.

Shen Jin straightened up, suppressing those thoughts, and his expression returned to its usual indifference: "Not bad."

"Then I need to hurry up and find an agent to see if I can finalize things sooner!" She happily pulled her suitcase. "Thank you! By the way, what's your name? My name is Lin Zhiyao."

"Shen Jin".

Her name was Lin Zhiyao.

"Shen Jin, Shen Jin... What a unique name."

Lin Zhiyao repeated herself, nodded, and smiled warmly and brightly, "Then I'll be going now, see you later."

"Wait, let's add each other on WeChat, right? We'll probably be roommates for a long time from now on."

Shen Jin remained unmoved.

"Great!" Lin Zhiyao smiled even more broadly. "I'm so lucky! I've met so many kind people as soon as I arrived in Boston! This exchange student program is a fantastic start!"

good luck?

Shen Jin gazed at the cute Chiikawa profile picture on his phone screen, a slight smile playing on his lips.

It was truly good luck that he met her here today.
