A man in a black trench coat stood on the filing cabinet and took out a black document.

#Uncertain Investigation Files#

"The Embrace: A method of transforming humans into vampires. The cost is enormous, the success rate is low, and only the first generation of vampires and some of their direct descendants possess this full ability. It is suspected to be accompanied by [amnesia] and [cognitive confusion]; the transformed individual will lose all memories of their human life."

"Derivatives of the Embrace: Some non-direct lineage vampires who transform through the Embrace possess [inferior] characteristics, specifically manifested as [non-immortality], [rich emotions], and reduced tolerance to [sunlight]."

Other methods of vampire reproduction: [None]. Except for the first generation of vampires, all vampires are transformed from humans. The [Church], [Nobles], and [Merchants] were the first human groups to transform into vampires, while [Slaves] were the first human groups to become [Vampire Servants]. Modern new vampires are selected from [Human Incubation Institutions] based on merit, undergo transformation under the control of the first generation of vampires, and are assigned [Parents] and [Lineage].

The control effect of the first-generation vampires: Some of the first-generation vampires possess a certain degree of [mind control] over the vampires they transform. This manifests as [dependence], [trust], and [identification] with the family. The control effect disappears upon the death of the first-generation vampire.

Assimilation (Unnamed): Consuming the blood or bodily fluids of a vampire may cause a human to develop vampire-like characteristics; this effect only applies to clergy.

"Clerics: Represented by [Priests], killing the first generation of vampires requires the [Purification] ability of clerics."

Blood Hunters: A human organization centered around the "Clerics," hunting and capturing vampires, then handing them over to the "Priests" for complete "purification." Currently, the Blood Hunters' target is the "First Generation."

"Pet Humans: Some newly born vampires develop an extreme fondness for humans, even keeping them as pets, seemingly related to lingering human instincts and underlying guilt."

"..."

The Human Protection Association: An organization dedicated to ethical discussions surrounding human beings and combating cruelty, pushing for legislation, opposing gene editing of humans, reducing the establishment of human breeding farms, and promoting the research and development of "technological blood." Its leader is a human, also known as the "Blood Moon Faction."

The black half-glove finally stopped at the words "Blood Moon Faction".

The files were sealed.

Chu Lin closed the door to the archives room again.

"Brother Lin."

A young girl spoke up: "What a coincidence! You're in the archives too? Amei said there's braised pork for dinner tonight, would you like to try some?"

Chu Lin gave a gentle smile: "No, something came up. Please apologize for me."

The girl blushed and said, "Okay, Brother Lin, bye-bye."

Chu Lin nodded, then strode towards the door.

He pressed his earpiece, and a voice came through.

"Task number C4-12, red-level task. Details will be sent to you shortly. You can enter a rest period after the task is completed. Please be careful."

Chu Lin took the car from the garage, drove it, and headed towards the cemetery.

A bouquet of white carnations was placed in the passenger seat.

Upon reaching his destination, Chu Lin spotted people in the cemetery from afar.

"elder brother."

Yu Ci turned around upon hearing the voice, and after seeing Chu Lin, she hummed in response.

Chu Lin stood in front of the grave, bent down slightly, and placed the flowers on the tombstone.

Neither of them spoke, and there was a moment of silence, until an arm suddenly wrapped around Chu Lin's neck from behind.

"Hey!"

Xiao Bai hugged Chu Lin from behind: "What's wrong? Why are you being so nice today? You even came to see us. Did you miss your brother?"

Chu Lin smiled and said, "Yes, I really want to."

Xiao Bai was flattered: "Do you miss me more or Xiao Hei more?"

Yu Ci looked up.

Chu Lin lowered his eyes: "I want both."

Xiao Bai finally let go: "Our Xiao Lin Bei Bei is just kind and embarrassed to hurt someone's feelings. Actually, he must miss me more. Look, he even bought white flowers."

Yu Ci: "No flower is black."

Xiao Bai: "!!! That's just sophistry!"

Chu Lin couldn't help but chuckle softly.

Yu Ci was too lazy to criticize Xiaobai.

He glanced at Chu Lin: "Are you going to find him?"

Chu Lin nodded: "Yes, I'll go see him after this mission is over. If he doesn't remember me, I won't bother him."

"If you don't remember, just find another good one." Xiaobai walked around to stand in front of him. "You've been so busy these past few years, you really deserve a good vacation..."

Xiao Bai suddenly paused, looking at Chu Lin.

"Brother Lin, don't cry, cheer up."

Yu Ci also looked at him with a worried gaze.

Chu Lin finally realized what was happening, touched his face, and then wiped away his tears with the back of his hand.

He placed his hand on the stone tablet, his fingertips gently brushing away the dust.

Turning around, the wind blew across the hem of my trench coat, scattering a white carnation petal.

……

This press conference is now concluded.

While taking notes, Xiwen said to Alpha, "The schedule for the next few days has been suspended. There is a banquet later that you need to attend, and many high-ranking vampires will be there."

Alpha hummed in agreement.

As they reached the door, several vampires who hadn't been stopped by the security guards squeezed in.

"Mr. Alpha, thank you so much for promoting this human-pet bracelet. My Meimei used to be so sullen, but now that she's wearing the bracelet, she's much more lively."

"I've heard that you've been donating to human protection organizations in your own name. May I interview you?"

"Sir, would you adopt a human? What are your thoughts on the recent attacks by unidentified human groups?"

Xiwen stopped some of the reporters and unrelated vampires, and let Alpha get into the car.

The driver started the vehicle, and Alfa closed his eyes wearily.

Xiwen couldn't help but say, "Boss, you could take a break. Working all the time isn't good for your health."

Alpha: "It's alright."

Xiwen tentatively asked, "There's a segment at today's banquet that includes a high-class auction of human pets. They're of excellent quality and temperament. I have photos here. If you...

Alpha interrupted, "No need."

Xiwen: "Okay."

The car stopped at the building entrance, and Alpha got out and went inside with Xiwen.

Shortly after they left, another figure got out of the newly arrived car.

She has short, silver-white hair, exquisite features, and could even be described as beautiful. Her red pupils reveal a gentleness and affability rarely seen in vampires.

He reached out and handed over the invitation, tucked between two fingers.

Noticing the other person's hesitation, Chu Lin leaned closer and said in standard vampire language, "Excuse me, the perfume I'm wearing today smells a bit strange. Did it overpower you?"

"No, no, no," the vampire said, his face flushed with panic. "Mr. Seville, please come in."
