Douluo Continent: The Peerless Sun and Moon Traverse the Heavens
Chapter 10 Xu Cheng: Have I become an evil soul master?
Shrek City is geographically located on the Lima Plain of the Heavenly Soul Empire. After traveling for several days, the caravan approached the border between the Sun Moon Empire and the Heavenly Soul Empire.
The darkness made it difficult for the caravan to travel, so everyone sat around the campfire and enjoyed their dinner.
A cast iron pot sat on the campfire, steaming and bubbling. Countless thin, white noodles tumbled and swirled in the pot, as if dancing.
Xu Cheng held a plate in one hand, which contained fried meat sauce and chopped vegetables. With his right hand, he used chopsticks to scoop a handful of noodles from the pot, shook off the water droplets, and put them into a bowl to stir.
The warm noodles, steaming with moisture, quickly melted the meat sauce.
After stirring, the meat sauce coated the noodles evenly, making them even more glossy and appetizing.
Xu Cheng picked up a piece of noodles and put it in his mouth. The chewy noodles combined with the crisp shredded vegetables, and with each chew, the springiness and crispness collided alternately in his mouth. Xu Cheng exclaimed with satisfaction:
"This is the taste! It's absolutely authentic! Miss Ye, you should try it too."
Xu Cheng turned his gaze to Miss Ye Zi, who was the captain of the caravan's guards. She was young but possessed the cultivation of a Soul King.
She's been hanging around Xu Cheng a lot these past few days, which makes Han Ruoruo roll her eyes.
Xu Cheng didn't mind; that's just how it is when someone is too handsome.
Miss Ye was dressed very simply, in the standard attire of a merchant, but her features were very regular. Her golden hair was styled into a bun. She quickly responded and, imitating Xu Cheng, began to enjoy the authentic Zhajiangmian (noodles with soybean paste).
"Brother Xu Cheng, is this how it's done in your hometown? I often travel as a merchant between the Three Great Empires and the Sun Moon Empire, but this is the first time I've seen such a novel way of eating it."
Xu Cheng waved his hand, gazing at the bright moon in the sky, his tone filled with melancholy:
"Hey, it's just a family recipe, nothing special."
Having lived in the Douluo Continent for over twenty years, I thought I had long forgotten my past life. Now that I can access my past memories, there are some things I can't help but touch.
In his previous life, he studied in the north for nearly ten years, which was considered his second hometown. This bowl of fried noodles with soybean paste was his greatest hope for that place.
Seeing that Xu Cheng was lost in thought, Miss Ye didn't disturb him. She quietly finished her dinner, and then it was time for everyone to set up camp.
After politely bidding farewell to everyone, Ye Zi also began to set up the caravan's defenses for the night. As she left, she glanced back at the direction of Xu Cheng and his group, a hint of sternness flashing in her eyes.
After more than ten days of travel, the journey was relatively safe and uneventful.
On a clear morning, the group finally met Mingdu.
The three women in the carriage were all visiting Mingdu for the first time, and they couldn't help but lean out of the carriage to look around curiously, filled with wonder at this world capital.
In the distance, Mingdu did not have the towering city walls of the cities in Douluo Continent. What appeared before us were rows of tall buildings that seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see.
Seeing the familiar scene, Xu Cheng couldn't help but introduce Mingdu to the three women:
"The central city of Mingdu is the imperial city, and the entire Mingdu can be roughly divided into four districts. The eastern district faces the three great empires, so merchants come and go the most frequently, and it is also the most prosperous commercial district in Mingdu."
To the west of Mingdu are continuous mountain ranges, and the streams in the mountains converge into a river called the Sun and Moon River. It flows into Mingdu from the west, turns near the imperial palace, and flows south, connecting the cities large and small of the Sun and Moon Empire.
The West District is the commoners' area of Mingdu, mixed with all sorts of small workshops. The South District is mainly the Soul Guidance Industry and various academies. The North District is relatively quiet and belongs to the aristocratic area.
Once the caravan entered Mingdu, the bustling streets presented a completely different scene. Shops had their doors wide open, displaying their best-selling products outside, and shouts blared from the soul-guided loudspeakers.
Since the carriage they were traveling in was rented from the Ordinary Alliance, it needed to be returned along with the carriage, so they followed the merchant guild's caravan to a spacious courtyard.
"Brother Xu Cheng, let's go settle the bill together."
"Okay, let's go."
Ye Zi led the way into the Chamber of Commerce, and after several twists and turns, they arrived at a small room. She took out the bill and handed it to Xu Cheng.
Xu Cheng glanced at it, saw no problems, and stamped it with the Universal Soul Guide seal.
"Then we'll be going."
Just as everyone turned to leave, a brilliant golden light suddenly burst forth from behind, and a golden beam of light instantly condensed, striking towards the back of Xu Cheng's neck.
"Prepare to die, evil spirit master."
With a "ding," a golden shield appeared, blocking the sudden attack. Xu Cheng's passive invincibility shield was activated.
Xu Cheng broke out in a cold sweat. Fortunately, he had the habit of wearing an invincible shield, otherwise he would have been killed as soon as he returned to Mingdu. Xu Cheng would have wondered if he had already committed suicide.
Looking at Miss Ye who had suddenly made her move, Xu Cheng's expression turned cold: "Miss Ye, is there some misunderstanding between us?"
Ye Zi did not answer. Her martial soul possessed her, and two pure white wings grew from her back. Her whole body seemed to be wearing a golden armor, and the dark soul rings behind her flashed.
"The Holy Sword descends. In the name of Holy Light, purify all evil!"
A massive golden sword appeared, carrying an unparalleled aura, and attacked Xu Cheng. Xu Cheng's brow throbbed slightly, as the evil energy within his spiritual sea trembled instinctively.
It's a divine attribute... Did she mistake me for an evil spirit master?
Xu Cheng couldn't help but look at Miss Ye Zi. Wasn't her martial spirit the Holy Angel?
What keen insight! It must have been that I inadvertently released the evil energy from my spiritual sea, which she noticed.
Han Ruoruo appeared in front of Xu Cheng, waving her right hand forward.
A golden rope shot towards the giant holy sword. The instant it made contact, the golden rope transformed into a serpent that coiled around the sword. With a slight tightening, the once unstoppable giant sword shattered.
The golden rope continued its relentless advance, hurtling towards the leaves.
Ye Zi's eyes widened in disbelief that her attack had been so easily broken. Soon, her limbs were bound, and she was forced to lie on the ground. She tried to break free, but to no avail.
"Miss Ye Zi, what does this mean?"
Han Ruoruo stepped forward and questioned the leaves on the ground.
Sensing the murderous intent emanating from the beautiful woman before him, Ye Zi disregarded everything else and shouted:
"Sister Wei'er, save me!"
Everyone was stunned for a moment, not expecting Ye Zi to call for reinforcements so readily.
Soon, a terrifying pressure enveloped the entire room, and Jiang's mother, being an ordinary person, almost fell over.
Seeing this, Han Ruoruo quickly retreated and stood with Xu Cheng to help the mother and daughter resist the pressure.
"Da, da, da!"
A crisp sound came from outside the door—the sound of heels hitting the floor. The door was pushed open by a slender, fair hand, adorned with various gemstones.
A voluptuous woman walked in, tall and slender, dressed in an exotic red dress and wearing a veil. She glanced indifferently at the room, her tone icy:
"Who dares to cause trouble at my Ordinary Alliance headquarters?"
Xu Cheng stepped out at that moment, waving to Han Ruoruo and the others to relax. He looked at the alluring woman before him with a smile, but his tone carried a hint of teasing:
"Sister Wei'er has such a bad memory; I didn't even recognize her after all these years."
