Red Dragon, but chosen by all four gods

Chapter 8 Inanna's Confusion

A silver moon hung in the night sky, its dim light barely casting a veil of light on the wilderness.

Legend has it that in the Golden Age, there was more than one silver moon, and a great moon goddess would bless travelers under the moonlight, as long as they were devout.

However, the group traveling at night had vision in the dark and did not need any lighting.

Inanna recalled the ancient legends her brother had told her, and felt uneasy.

She is currently traveling with two dragon hatchlings and a dragonborn guard to the Bluewood Forest, where the turbulent tribes reside.

All she knew was that the young red dragon was the leader of the group, and the dragonborn obeyed his orders. The white dragon seemed unimportant, merely following along.

They came from the great Golden Dragon Court, and it seemed they had sneaked out so they wouldn't be discovered by the dragonborn who were there to greet their father.

Furthermore, the red dragon seems to dislike being called "evil".

The five-colored dragons are infamous throughout the world of Eladica, and the term "Dragon Plague" is indispensable in every story of Godfall.

There are actually red dragons that aren't evil?

Could it be that the great Golden Dragon Lord has been bewitched by the beautiful red dragon's appearance? Or is he treating it like a servant?

Inanna knew that nothing in the Golden Dragon Court was something she, or even the entire Galahren family, could interfere with.

Her most important task now is to gather as much intelligence as possible and survive.

The red dragon named Heros showed no intention of explaining anything to her, and when she talked to him, Inanna felt that her thoughts were read, making it difficult to lie.

As for the dragonborn named Hill, Inanna was certain that what she wanted most was to end this journey as soon as possible and, incidentally, silence her, the one who knew the truth.

Finally, there was the white dragon following behind the red dragon, who didn't say a word and seemed a bit silly.

My elder brother once said that the white dragon is the most savage and least intelligent of the five dragons, and almost all the dragons look down on the white dragon.

Maybe he's easier to talk to, and I can get some information from him?

Even a few words are better than nothing.

As we walked, the faint howls of unknown wild animals drifted from the depths of the distant mountains and forests, a common sound in the wilderness.

But Heros's eyes lit up, he pulled Hill aside and said something, then instructed Anglu and Inanna, "Stay here, we'll be right back."

He then eagerly flew towards the direction from which the beast's howl was coming from.

Hill was somewhat reluctant, but he followed closely behind.

Inanna and Anglu were left standing there, staring at each other.

Inanna thought to herself, “They don’t seem worried at all about me running away.”

However, with that powerful dragonborn warrior around, he wouldn't get very far before being caught and brought back.

She knew very well how powerful the dragonborn warriors of the Golden Dragon Court were; even alone, they could easily defeat an elite squad of a tribe.

Stealth, assassination, charging, decapitation—they are proficient in every technique on the battlefield.

However, this is a good opportunity to talk to the young white dragon.

So Inanna thought for a moment, then asked Anglu with anticipation:

"Greetings, esteemed and powerful White Dragon, I am Inanna Galahren."

Upon hearing this, Anglu tilted his head and said, "I am a kind white dragon."

"Uh, of course, under the radiance of the Golden Dragon Court, there is naturally also justice and kindness. I was rude and offended Lord Heros before... May I ask your name?"

"I am a kind white dragon," Angru said earnestly.

"...Um, I was being presumptuous. I don't know the name of the true dragon. Do you know what Lord Red Dragon needs me to do? I want to serve him better."

"I am a kind white dragon." Angru scratched his head, looking puzzled.

Inanna: "..."

……

A moment later, a disgruntled Inanna saw the little red dragon and Hill return together.

To her surprise, the little red dragon had several wounds and was covered in blood, but judging from the amount of blood, it was not entirely his own.

Hill had a thorn beast slung over his shoulder, and Anglu had already excitedly moved closer.

Although an adult Thorn Beast is very strong, could it really injure this little red dragon even under the protection of a powerful dragonborn warrior?

"That's all, let's keep going."

Upon hearing Heros's words, the group continued on their way, and Inanna naturally dared not ask any questions.

Heros was somewhat annoyed.

He thought the "Crimson" statue would be the easiest to obtain, but it turned out to be the trigger condition that left him unsure.

He had just heard a beast howl and followed the sound, and sure enough, he found a magical beast that hunted for food at night. It was mainly in the shape of a long-toothed thorn beast, but it also had the shadows of many other magical beasts on its body—the influence of the Godfall Calendar did not only exist in intelligent races.

In short, although it is just an ordinary magical beast, it is already an adult and is stronger than the newly born red dragon.

Heros told Hill not to intervene and took matters into his own hands, spending quite some time before finally managing to hunt it down.

He felt that such a battle was probably enough to trigger the "Crimson" statue.

Unfortunately, so far, he has not felt any call from the "Dream Palace".

The wounds on its body are nothing; dragons possess powerful regenerative abilities. Even if their bones are broken, they can recover simply by sleeping.

However, this would negate half of Heros's original purpose.

"Dark purple is better this way; all we need is Mother," Heros muttered.

Since it cannot be triggered through ordinary battles, Heros temporarily lowered the priority of "Crimson".

"Inanna".

"Huh?" Inanna quickly responded.

"You said that this troubled tribe used strange magic when they invaded White River Valley?"

"Yes, François said they used evil troll magic, full of blood and fire."

Inanna added, "Although I haven't seen it with my own eyes, I've heard from warriors who have been there that their warriors are covered in blood runes, which make them incredibly strong and can even set their axe blades ablaze, making them extremely formidable on the battlefield."

"Blood and fire." Heros nodded. The red dragon liked both of these magic systems.

"Crimson" failed to trigger, so I'll try triggering "Azure" instead.

"Your family must also have a lineage of spellcasting, right?" Heros asked casually, but since Macaros was currently staying at Galahren Castle, he didn't plan to try it out for the time being.

"Yes, yes, Finn is the best spellcaster in our family, and there are some books in the family that record magical knowledge, but I am not qualified to read them... However, our magic is certainly not worth mentioning in the eyes of a true dragon."

Heros could tell that she was very reluctant to let him notice her family's magic.

This "Finn" must be a relative who was kind to her.

It didn't matter to him; he didn't care about Gallaheren's family relationships.

To be honest, after realizing that he lived in a place even worse than these nobles, he didn't have much affection for the entire Galahren nobility.

"Let's go then, let me see what this tribe's troll witchcraft is like."
