I became a farmer in the apocalypse.

Su Xiao struggled internally for a moment. Why not earn points if she could? After all, it was Shen Feng who offered to help.

"Okay, but don't say you're recycling it for me, just say it's yours."

The others frowned as they listened to their conversation.

Someone advised, "Shen Feng, I suggest you think carefully before you act. Aren't you afraid of stepping on Jiang Li's landmine by doing this?"

"From now on, when you buy grain or sell mutated bamboo shoots, you'll have to go to Jiang Li. If she finds out that you helped Su Xiao sell mutated wild vegetables, she'll definitely be unhappy with Jiang Li."

Shen Feng: "I can't just watch Su Xiao suffer. It's just a favor."

This means that he still intends to help Su Xiao.

Seeing this, everyone could only turn a blind eye.

"Alright, stop dawdling. Wild vegetables are getting harder and harder to find in these mountains. Let's hurry up and head up," Chen Feng said.

The recent spring rains have been intermittent, and although we can't feel it ourselves, according to official data, the concentration of foreign elements in the air has increased significantly compared to before, and the degradation rate of wild plants has generally reached over 97%.

The plants of the entire world are undergoing silent transformation, making it incredibly difficult to find anything edible in such a world.

He was genuinely worried that if the situation didn't improve, would humanity even have a chance to survive?

Let's avoid another famine.

[Day 22 of survival.]

The great catastrophe has not yet arrived.

Jiang Li looked at her personal panel.

Although it seems like a long time has passed, she has only been in this world for 22 days.

[Survivor: Jiang Li]

Survival time: 22 days.

[Special Ability: Wood-type (Level 2)]

[Abilities: Plant Perception (Level 3), Plant Growth and Decline (Level 2)]

【Career 1: Intermediate Farmer (Unlocks the skill "Gold Mining")】

【Occupation 2: Garbage Collector (Garbage collection profit share: 20%)】

This time, the system panel has an extra line of text compared to before.

The great catastrophe has not yet arrived.

Her system is very subtle in expressing many things, requiring her to discover them herself. For example, it doesn't explain why her role in this world has become "survivor," nor does it explain why there's an extra line: "The great catastrophe has not yet arrived."

But Jiang Li could more or less guess that, compared to the massive amount of data, she was just a tiny, insignificant presence.

He sighed, bent down, and continued hammering and tinkering.

Her farm is very different now. When she first arrived, it was just fifty acres of wasteland. Now she has more employees, chickens and cows, seeds, and she has become a garbage collector who can earn money by picking up trash. As long as there is no particularly terrible disaster, these things are enough for her to live well in this apocalypse. As long as the front line does not collapse and as long as those large mutated beasts do not set foot on her farm, she can still get by.

"I've grown pumpkins!" Qiao Wu looked at the large, orange-yellow pumpkins in the field, her excitement beyond words.

Jiang Li went over to check.

It was a 16-pound pumpkin. In addition, there were four juicy, fully grown Chinese cabbages in Qiao Wu's field.

"You can start picking now." After Jiang Li picked the pumpkins and cabbages and put them in the shop's cold storage, she gave her a form.

It says:

Harvested on April 4.14th: 16 jin of pumpkin and 16.5 jin of Chinese cabbage.

She handed the form to Qiao Wu, saying, "This is the pickup slip. Everything we pick from your field will be recorded here so we can easily settle your bonus at the end of the month."

Jiang Li casually asked her, "Have the sugarcane and sugar beets been planted yet?"

"It's planted."

Qiao Wu pointed to a cluster of sugarcane seedlings and ten newly sprouted buds in the field.

After exhausting his physical strength, Qiao Wu drove the tractor to plow the fields, following Jiang Li's instructions to plow a wheat field opposite the rice paddies.

Jiang Li returned to her room and took out the 10 banana seedlings that the system had given her from the reward box.

Botanically speaking, bananas are not actually trees, but rather a perennial giant herbaceous plant. You can think of it as a giant grass, so its trunk is not woody, but rather a pseudostem formed by layers of leaf sheaths.

Its true rhizome is hidden underground. The pseudostem above ground grows from one of its young buds. After it bears fruit, the pseudostem must be cut off because it will not bear fruit again after it has borne fruit once. Only after it is cut off can the underground rhizome sprout new buds, grow again, and bear fruit again...

Jiang Li went to a place not far from the vineyard and buried ten banana seedlings. Once they all grew, this place would become a small banana plantation.

Back in the vegetable garden, Jiang Li went to check on the plants that had been watered with nutrient solution the day before.

The system said that the plant nutrient solution could promote plant evolution. Jiang Li observed the plants and found that none of them had evolved, but one garlic clove seemed to have mutated.

Normally, a garlic clove has its stem and leaves at the top and the bulb at the bottom, with only one bulb at the bottom. But this garlic clove is very different; it has grown itself into a string of candied hawthorns.

One garlic clove is strung together with another, tightly connected.

Jiang Li squatted down and touched it. "What's wrong with you?"

How did you grow up to look like this?

Moreover, the surrounding garlic had been drained dry by it and had all withered. Jiang Li dug up a garlic plant next to it and found that even the roots were withered and dead. Jiang Li tried to repair it, but it didn't work; it was completely dead.

This garlic plant killed all the other garlic plants.

Not only that, but a nearby eggplant plant was also killed by it and withered away.

The system then focused its attention on the string of garlic cloves that resembled candied hawthorns, and marked it.

[Evolved Plant (Level 1): Inedible]

[Friendly Reminder: During their growth, evolved plants will rapidly absorb nutrients from surrounding plants. Each evolved plant requires at least 25 square meters of land to sustain it. Please control the planting spacing appropriately to ensure that the evolved plants have sufficient living space.]

Jiang Li used her abilities to scan the garlic, and it was indeed found to be poisonous.

At first, she thought it was a mutation, but it turned out to be evolution.

Moreover, after activating the plant perception, you can see the bright "lv1" on the top of its head.

Jiang Li: "..."

What does this mean? Is this a top-grade garlic?

Jiang Li was completely bewildered. Although she didn't know what was going on, the system said that it needed at least 25 square meters of growing land, so Jiang Li had no choice but to dig up the string of candied garlic and find an empty spot to bury it again, so that it could enjoy 25 square meters of space all to itself.

Looking around, there was nothing but this one plant, and it wasn't very big, making it seem rather desolate and lonely.

Water it again, and dig a trench around it and bury some fertilizer.

After taking care of everything, as Jiang Li was about to leave the vegetable garden, she picked up a shiny little booklet on the ground.

The cover reads "The Evolution of Plant Cultivation Manual".

Open it, and the first page shows a simplified diagram of the growth process of garlic evolution.

There are ten stages in total, corresponding to ten levels.

The level 1 evolved garlic looks exactly like the one in the vegetable garden.

At level 2, it will sprout another shoot from underground and grow a new bunch of candied garlic.

Finally, at level 10, this garlic will grow into a bunch of candied hawthorns, just like when you see someone selling candied hawthorns on the street. There will be a cylindrical straw target in the middle, and then the straw target will be filled with candied hawthorns. This is what the garlic looks like after its final evolution.
