Hunt her

Chapter 24 So you have someone you like?

Yan Xu narrowed her eyes, not wanting to pay attention to him: "I'll send you the takeout address. You'll have to figure out your own dinner later. Don't order for me, I'm not eating."

Shen Yi nodded: "No."

So he went downstairs to the convenience store and bought two buckets of instant noodles and sausages, as well as some snacks, bread, and milk.

He didn't order takeout.

When Yan Xu came out of the shower, she smelled a familiar aroma of braised beef noodles. She walked to the dining room and saw that Shen Yi had made two bowls of instant noodles.

This is what he meant by "not pointing out".

Shen Yi raised his chin: "Come and eat, it'll melt soon."

Yan Xu sighed, walked over and sat down, still smelling of shower gel on her body. Shen Yi ate very quickly, it was clear he was hungry.

After he finished eating, he went to the bathroom to take a shower. Yan Xu said, "I've put the bathrobe on the rack. You can take it."

Shen Yi saw a long, light pink bathrobe hanging neatly on the wall and thought happily, "Now you're even willing to share her clothes, and you still dare to say you haven't changed?"

Yan Xu diligently ate instant noodles outside. Recently, he has been eating three meals a day on time and has gained about seven or eight pounds. The flesh on his face has also gradually returned.

"Buzz—" The phone vibrated.

Yan Xu saw that it was Xiao Jingxing and answered the phone: "Hello, Brother Jingxing."

Xiao Jingxing, dressed in his pajamas, swirled a glass of red wine in his hand and took a small sip: "Xiao Xu, when are you planning to go back to Kunming? I'll come pick you up."

Yan Xu lowered his eyes: "It will take some time, Brother Jingxing. Don't tell my dad and the others about my new number."

"Okay." Xiao Jingxing finished the rest of his red wine. "I will definitely do whatever Xiao Xu says."

For Yan Xu, Xiao Jingxing has always been a heartwarming presence.

He used to take care of her when she was sick or uncomfortable, even when she had her first period and her stomach hurt.

To her, Xiao Jingxing was an older brother she could trust more than her parents.

Standing at the bathroom door, Shen Yi hesitated whether to open it. It was the first time he had heard her chat with someone so gently, her tone was not sharp, and there was no sense of distance, only intimacy.

Is this the power of childhood sweethearts?

After Yan Xu hung up the phone and returned to the room, Shen Yi opened the door and came out. There were pillows and a thin blanket on the sofa.

He would have been happy to see this before that phone call.

But now, I just feel superfluous.

After turning off the living room light, Shen Yi tossed and turned, feeling depressed, and finally closed his eyes to sleep.

Inside the bedroom.

Yan Xu lit incense, leaned against the headboard, and gently stroked the bracelet in the jewelry box, her eyes filled with sadness and reluctance.

"Grandpa, I miss you so much." Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. Yan Xu raised her hand and wiped them away with her fingertips. "What should I do to preserve what you left behind without hurting it?"

She was afraid that she would become immersed in this loveless marriage, and she was also afraid that Shen Yi would be implicated because of her.

Yan Xu suddenly felt extremely tired, both physically and mentally exhausted.

She placed the bracelet on the bottom shelf of the bedside table and went out of the bedroom to get a drink of water to calm herself down.

It was dark outside, and Shen Yi was asleep, so she could only open the refrigerator to get water by the moonlight.

She glanced at the sofa out of the corner of her eye; the thin blanket was slowly sliding down.

He fell asleep so quickly that he didn't even notice the blanket was about to fall to the floor.

Yan Xu pursed his lips, then, overcome with kindness, went over and picked it up for him, covering it up again.

If he catches a cold while staying with her, I'll have to take care of him tomorrow.

Shen Yi noticed the movement on his body, and he grabbed Yan Xu's wrist and pulled him towards himself. Yan Xu lost his balance and fell directly onto him.

Shen Yi held her, feigning ignorance, and asked, "Why aren't you asleep?"

Yan Xu struggled to get up, but her slippers weren't slip-resistant, and she fell down again: "..."

Yan Xu sighed helplessly, "Get up and drink some water. I'll pick up the blanket if it falls on the floor."

"Oh." Shen Yi rested one hand behind his head to make it easier to see her. "You've gained weight."

Yan Xu turned his face away: "I know."

He supervised her meals every day, making it difficult for her not to gain weight, and he even managed to cure her anorexia.

Yan Xu was quite grateful to him, shifting her body slightly upwards: "Thank you, Shen Yi."

As she moved closer to him, Shen Yi's restless energy finally gave way. He said in a low, controlled voice, "Don't move, don't speak."

Let me take a moment.

Yan Xu sensed something was wrong, so she leaned forward slightly to look down at his lower body.

Her face turned completely red in an instant.

Shen Yi, breathing heavily, pulled the blanket over himself.

Yan Xu naturally knew what he meant, and immediately stood up, hurriedly tidying her hair: "Then I... I'm going back to my room."

After saying that, he quickly opened and closed the door, got into bed and turned off the light, his movements so fast that he was afraid of recalling what had just happened.

Shen Yi smiled indulgently: "You flirted with someone and then ran away, how ruthless."

After a while, Yan Xu heard the sound of running water coming from the bathroom, and the scene he had just seen reappeared in his mind.

We're both adults; she's not unaware that his body is reacting.

But how did it... cause a reaction?

She did nothing.

Yan Xu, oblivious to his own flirting, covered his ears and went to sleep.

Shen Yi didn't know how long he had been in the shower. When he walked out of the bathroom, the steam behind him was so thick that he could hardly see anyone.

He stopped and stared at the bedroom door, his eyes glazed over, his ears burning: "If you flirt with me again, I won't let you get away."

Whoever starts the fire must put it out.

Yan Xu, who was lying in bed and hadn't fallen asleep yet, felt his face burning.

She heard everything.

The next day.

Yan Xu was able to get up a little later. According to the usual time Shen Yi left home, he should have already left by now.

Yan Xu changed his clothes, carefully turned the doorknob to open the door, and peeked out from the doorway.

Phew... nobody's here.

Just as she walked into the living room, Shen Yi came out of the kitchen, carrying two bowls of rice noodles.

Shen Yi calmly said, "Come and eat, see if my cooking skills have improved."

"Where did you get this pot?" Yan Xu walked into the kitchen, where there were pots, pans, and dishes. "Did you buy it this morning?"

Shen Yi: "Yeah, the order I placed last night arrived this morning. Never mind that for now, sit down and eat."

"..."

Has he forgotten that she has been rejecting him all along?

"Shen Yi, do you remember when you got your marriage certificate you said you'd get a divorce if anyone ever fell in love with you?"

Shen Yi raised his eyes, paused for a moment, and then asked, "So you have someone you like?"
