Qi He's guilt vanished instantly.

Why keep a man like that around if you're not going to leave him? Just to make yourself miserable!

The two entered the old house's main hall, which was used for receiving guests, one after the other.

Similar to last year's New Year's banquet, there were about ten tables set up. Miss Qi arrived late, attracting a lot of attention.

Some of the rain fell on her, but most of it fell on Shang Jue's face behind her.

The momentum of Juxian Trading Company during that year was evident to all, and its growth rate made the Qi family both alarmed and wary.

Qi He ignored the malicious stares and sat down at the family table.

He paused slightly when he saw Qi Lanlan, looked away, and greeted Qi Zheng.

Shang Jue sat down beside her, took off her cloak, and handed it to a servant.

This scene was particularly jarring to Qi Lanlan's eyes. She smiled gently and said, "I heard from my second uncle that my second sister had a falling out with Brother Shang a few days ago and went to stay at Brother Shang's house. I actually believed it, but today I can tell that my second uncle was just lying to me."

Just as Qi He was wondering how to naturally bring up the topic of divorce, her eyes lit up.

The steps came at just the right time.

She took a deep breath and looked away, refusing to look at Shang Jue's expression.

The words she had rehearsed countless times in her mind came out with her voice: "Second Uncle wasn't lying."

Qi He put down her chopsticks, her calm voice revealing a hint of coldness: "Moreover, I'm not having a falling out with Shang Jue; I want a divorce."

Everyone at the table froze. The air seemed to solidify, and they all looked over with varying expressions.

After a long pause, Qi He finally heard Shang Jue's voice, which sounded somewhat incredulous: "What did you say?"

Qi He originally thought it would be difficult to say the words of divorce, but after she actually said them, it felt as if a huge weight had been lifted from her heart.

She put down her chopsticks, and the hall was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

"I have already made myself very clear, so there is no need to repeat myself."

Shang Jue suddenly raised his voice, breaking the deathly silence in the hall: "Qi He, don't make such pointless jokes. I don't find them funny."

So what if she spoke louder? She wasn't afraid at all.

Qi He thought to herself, since she was going to lay her cards on the table, she should do it with the same intensity.

She paused, stood up, looked down at Shang Jue, and coldly uttered, "Is that so? I never joke with my own life. Do I need to make myself clearer?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Shang Jue's expression changed.

Panic and helplessness.

Qi He knew he understood.

Shang Jue, please don't hold a grudge against me. I didn't mean to embarrass you in public.

You can't just draw my blood and expect me to pretend nothing happened, can you?

She is a person, not a real blood bag.

Just as she was about to bring up divorce again, Shang Jue stood up from his seat, his eyes filled with heavy emotions.

Qi He had never seen him so aggressive before, and subconsciously took a half step back, grabbing Qi Zheng's sleeve.

This action made Shang Jue pause.

"What exactly happened?" Qi Zheng frowned. "Why did they suddenly bring up divorce while we were eating? And they're arguing during the New Year."

Seeing that the two looked uncomfortable, Qi Zheng tried to smooth things over, saying, "If you have something to say, go to the study. Don't make a fool of yourself at the New Year's banquet."

Qi He thought this was for the best. Shang Jue always cared about his reputation. If she offended him too much, she would have a harder time dealing with him later.

Just as she was about to agree, Shang Jue's somewhat hoarse voice came from behind her: "Qi He, things aren't what you think."

For some reason, these words reignited the fire in Qi He's heart.

What's done is done. The original Qi He wronged him, and she acknowledged it.

But he did it and then denied it, putting on this eager-to-explain act, which in her eyes was nothing but hypocrisy.

"Isn't what I think?" When she spoke again, Qi He's voice had become somewhat sharp.

The fuse that had been buried for so long was finally lit.

"Was it you, Shang Jue, who secretly used my blood sample to match your sister's blood? Or did I stumble upon a fake medical record while sleepwalking? Shang Jue, ask yourself honestly, what have I done to wrong you? Did I kill your parents or ruin your entire family? Is it worth you enduring this humiliation and feigning compliance with me? Should I praise you for your perseverance and cunning? What makes you think I can continue living with someone who plots against me day and night? If I don't leave, are you waiting for me to die?!"

Only after shouting these words did Qi He realize how much she cared about this matter.

She didn't know when her face was covered in tears, her eyes were red, and she was trembling with anger. She used all her strength to barely stop sobbing.

She admitted that she was bothered by Shang Jue's pretense of treating her well while secretly plotting to kill her.

She didn't do anything to wrong him, so why should she bear the consequences in the end?

Does Shang Jue think it's fun to play tricks on her like this?

All that previously meticulously crafted nonchalance has now shattered completely.

The vine that had long been planted in her heart grew wildly, entangled her, and made it hard for her to breathe.

She just couldn't stand his scheming against her, nor could she tolerate him treating her badly in the slightest.

She is shameless, willful, and selfish.

Shang Jue's voice caught in his throat.

He wasn't sure how much Qi He knew, but he felt that the two of them needed some time to calm down.

"Calm down first." Shang Jue rubbed his temples. "Things aren't really what you think."

"I can explain, Qi He, you can't condemn me like this right off the bat."

Qi He paused for a moment, then laughed in exasperation: "Fine, tell me, how do you plan to explain this?"

"Back in March, I did use your blood for a compatibility test." A feeling of inexplicable annoyance rose in Shang Jue's heart, and he began to regret the decision he had made that day. He continued, "But I only completed the paperwork for the compatibility test; I never intended to force you to do anything."

Qi He took a deep breath, her voice still choked with emotion: "Do you think what I care about is whether or not I donate that little bit of blood? Let me tell you, I'll give to anyone who needs it. What I care about is why you kept it from me, why you didn't tell me?"

"That's a long time, from March until now, Shang Jue, tell me how long? Eleven months! More than three hundred days! How busy are you, Manager Shang, that you can't spare a single day to discuss this matter with me? Do I need to tell you the reason?"

"Because from the very beginning you assumed I was a heartless person. How could I possibly do something to hurt myself for someone else? In your eyes, Qi He, I am nothing but a despicable, shameless, selfish, and utterly useless piece of trash!"

By the end, Qi He was hoarse and exhausted, her chest heaving violently from the intense emotions she was experiencing.

Her mind went blank, and tears streamed down her face as if she had run out, stinging her cheeks.

Suddenly, there was no sound in the hall.

A deathly silence spread.

All that remained were her rapid breathing and sobs.

She closed her eyes wearily.

"I've already embarrassed myself enough, Shang Jue. I don't want to argue with you here, nor do I want to pretend nothing happened, so—"

It was as if she had delivered her final verdict to Shang Jue: "Let's get a divorce."
