Sure enough!

This address is way too intimate, it's even more intimate than how her parents and older brother call her Xiao Ran. It makes her feel a little uneasy, but since Lu Zhenghan brought it up, she couldn't very well refuse, so she nodded in agreement.

Zheng Han Ge, Ranran.

The sudden change in address made Xia Qiuran think to herself that she was starting to feel a bit like she was in love.

But how long can she hold on? Now she's been sent back to the army and is back to being a low-ranking reserve soldier. I wonder if Lu Zhenghan's grandparents will have any thoughts about it. If they knew that their grandson's girlfriend was so useless, they would probably be disappointed.

Regardless of what has happened, Xia Qiuran should still stand firm at her post until the very end. She quickened her writing, but soon the pen tip began to make a "scratching" sound on the paper, like sandpaper.

"What's wrong?" Lu Zhenghan asked, looking up.

"The pen seems to be clogged." Xia Qiuran said, flicking the pen a couple more times, resulting in a large drop of ink dripping directly onto the notebook, creating a bluish-black haze.

My heart sank immediately; this piece of writing had been for nothing.

"Let me see."

Lu Zhenghan walked over, took the pen, and unscrewed the pen case. Xia Qiuran also gave up her chair so that Lu Zhenghan could sit there and make the repairs. She stood to the side, looking anxiously. There were thick stacks of meeting minutes in front of the desk. The space was cramped, and the two of them unconsciously pressed their arms together.

Xia Qiuran's soft breath fell beside Lu Zhenghan's ear, and she exuded a pleasant soapy scent.

"Can it be fixed?" Xia Qiuran asked softly. A small wisp of warm air slid into Lu Zhenghan's earlobe and into his collar, causing a tingling sensation.

"It can be fixed, just clear the nib." Lu Zhenghan's Adam's apple bobbed.

"I have toilet paper here, don't get your hands dirty."

Xia Qiuran saw that Lu Zhenghan was about to pull the pen tip out with his fingers and immediately said something.

She leaned to the side to grab the toilet paper on the other side, almost pulling Lu Zhenghan halfway into her arms.

The white coat was already old and thin from washing. Through the two layers of fabric, Lu Zhenghan could clearly feel the temperature of Xia Qiuran's side waist.

"I'll pull it out; I already have ink on my hands anyway."

Xia Qiuran took the scrap paper and placed it on the pen tip. With a little force, the pen tip was pulled out.

"It looks like something's blocking the way, take a look."

Lu Zhenghan took it and used the needle to poke the inside of the pen tip little by little.

"Be careful not to prick your hand."

Xia Qiuran subconsciously leaned forward again, watching intently, her breathing steady, her chest pressing lightly against Lu Zhenghan's shoulder, the warmth quickly seeping into Lu Zhenghan's skin.

Lu Zhenghan's chest heaved slightly, and he subconsciously swallowed.

The pen-fixing motion in his hand didn't stop, but his mind uncontrollably kept replaying the incidents of artificial respiration and slipping in the family compound.

Xia Qiuran's body seemed to be made entirely of water, so soft everywhere.

Lu Zhenghan forced himself not to think about it, but it seemed as if his thoughts were out of control, and his mind was in complete turmoil. Because he couldn't concentrate, the needle in his hand suddenly pierced his fingertip, and a drop of bright red blood immediately gushed out.

"I pricked my finger, let me see."

Xia Qiuran was about to touch it when Lu Zhenghan casually wiped the drop of blood with his fingers and quickened his movements.

"fine."

"It's fixed, give it a try."

Lu Zhenghan cleared his throat, his voice still a little hoarse.

Xia Qiuran drew a wavy line on the paper with her pen, the strokes flowing smoothly. She looked up and smiled at Lu Zhenghan.

"It's much smoother than before."

"Thank you, Zhenghan. How's your finger?"

Xia Qiuran pointed at Lu Zhenghan's finger with one hand suspended in the air and said.

Looking at Xia Qiuran's fingers, which were as white as mutton fat jade, Lu Zhenghan wanted to gently hold them, but even though it was only a hand's distance away, it felt like there was a long way to go.

I practiced reaching out my hand repeatedly in my mind, but my courage always got stuck halfway through.

They had only been dating for a few days, and it seemed a bit too frivolous to hold hands now. After a series of internal struggles, they finally pretended to be nonchalant and looked away.

"fine."

"No, it's better to disinfect it. That needle came from their sewing kit and it's covered in ink. It would be bad if it got infected."

Xia Qiuran said that she brought over a medical cotton ball, wrapped her small hand around his big hand, and wiped the needle hole little by little.

The moment their fingers touched, Lu Zhenghan felt as if he had been struck by lightning. His previous struggles, hesitations, and anxieties all collapsed at that moment.

He dared not squeeze back forcefully, only stiffly feeling the warmth of Xia Qiuran's palm and its soft touch.

"alright."

Xia Qiuran disinfected her hands and tried to let go, but then she found that her hands were completely surrounded and she couldn't move them at all.

When Xia Qiuran met Lu Zhenghan's gaze, her heart trembled slightly, and a hint of shyness crept onto her cheeks.

"Commander, the disinfection is complete." Xia Qiuran tried to break free by exerting a little force with both hands, but found that Lu Zhenghan's large hands were as firm as stone.

Call me Zheng Han.

Lu Zhenghan stared intently at Xia Qiuran with his deep eyes, unable to look away for even a moment. His warm breath gently caressed her face, his brows slightly relaxed, shedding all his usual composure and self-control, and revealing a layer of restrained tenderness.

His throat bobbed uncontrollably twice, his lips parted slightly, and his breathing became increasingly heavy.

Half of her eyes were filled with surging excitement, and the other half with caution. Her gaze was focused and intense, like a tide about to wash over her, threatening to engulf her entirely.

He didn't take another step forward, but leaned his body slightly downward, his Adam's apple bobbing heavily, his self-control almost breaking.

He was afraid of scaring Xia Qiuran, but he couldn't help but move closer to her. His gaze first fell on her eyes, and then involuntarily slid to her soft lips. He couldn't bear to look away for even an inch.

The two were very close, the air thick and hot, and Xia Qiuran's heart was pounding wildly.

"Brother Zhenghan, this is a hospital, please let me go."

"Ranran, I don't know why, but I can't help but think of you whenever I close my eyes."

A gentle light shimmered in Lu Zhenghan's deep eyes, and his usually serious face softened considerably.

Xia Qiuran felt embarrassed by the stare and turned her gaze away, speaking slowly.

"Maybe these tasks are too tedious, Zhenghan. Why don't you go back to the guesthouse first? I can do the rest myself."

He tried to pull his hand back, but it remained firmly held in place.

"Ranran, do you want to kick me out?" Lu Zhenghan asked in a low voice.

No, I didn't.

Xia Qiuran's voice grew softer and softer as she lowered her head, not daring to meet Lu Zhenghan's deep eyes.

Lu Zhenghan moved forward little by little, and the already close distance now made their breaths almost intertwine.

"Ranran, you are so beautiful."
